~The feathers. I love those damn feathers. I almost didn't find them, and I was going to use one of those cheap (and rather inaccurate, in my opinion) chandelle boas as a last resort. Lo and behold, 2 days before the con, I found the perfect feather trim!

~Headdress. I'm very proud of this, it's my baby. It took me 8 months of on and off work to complete.

~Gradient on the dress. The only other Edea cosplayer I have seen with a gradient is PixieKitty. Most people just don't do it, which is a big bother to me. It makes the dress interesting and ties in the bright colors of the headress with the rest of the outfit.

~Claws. I actually had them! I haven't seen another Edea cosplayer with the really long, sharp fingers. It was hard to function with them, though - I had to take off my gloves to pick things up, eat, etc.

~In most of the pictures my fan is missing it's outer rim of spikes... a few broke off in transit to the con, so I snapped the rest off before I put the fan on.

~Neck isn't cut as low down as I would have liked, but I had to keep it up a little higher because MOM wouldn't let me out of the house otherwise.

~You can't see the gradient I airbrushed on the tips of my claws, but it's there. Trust me.

Reference pictures are here. (http://www.geocities.com/holographics2000/edea.html)

Photos of the finished costume are here (http://images.cosplay.com/photo.php?photo=9730&lang=eng), here (http://images.cosplay.com/photo.php?photo=9731&lang=eng), and here (http://kse3.dyndns.org:1129//ah/ushi2004/pics/DSC03596.JPG). There are also some in my gallery... all are on the first page.

Before I wear this again I will have a better (a.k.a. REPAIRED) fan, latex veins for my face, and her ice spear (it's gonna glow, too).

Ideas for improvement, anyone? I need some other eyes besides my own to look it over ^_^.

In my opinion, you did a very nice job on Edea. It's a lot better than some of the Edea cosplayers I've seen. ^^ I especially like the fabric you used for the dress, and I really like the hands/claws.

Ice spear too, eh? Mmmmrehehehehe.

you did a really good job. I wish I had played the game so I could appreciate it more... Somethings is makes we sad when things like this come up. It's so nice, and I can tell you spent a lot of time on it, But I haven't seen the costume in action, so I can't appreciate it to the fullest.

Wow. Just wow. I had to spend a few minutes to find something to criticize. XD My only suggestion is a little more make-up - eye shadow and lipstick, to be exact.
Other than that, I think it's awesome. @__@

Oh I remember seeing you at Ushicon.Sadly the pic I took of you didn't turn....actually hardly any of my Ushicon pics turned out.Anyways it's a lovely costume.

I agree with the others. I had to really look to find anything off at all! The headress and makeup are amazing, professional even! The only thing I would change on a remake or repair would be the dress. It seems to fit loosly on you in some of the pictures, and the feathers at the top aren't as extravagant as the ones in some (but not all) of the referance pictures. *shrugs* I'm reaching here. Your costume is essentially perfect.

That is some very good work. I feel the final product is very in feel and design with the reference shots you provided. I hope that this costume will make a few other stops along the way this year as it is definatly a showstopper.

My suggestion is that you could use some fusable interfacing to keep the petals at the bottom of your skirt stiff and straight. Just little polishing off details.

I think my only complaint/suggestion is more on the make up; perhaps, as Gren suggested, use something to stiffen the petals on the bottom of the skirt... Oh, and the skirt should be 'out' more at the bottom (if that makes any sense) Other than that, it's an absolutely *WONDERFUL* costume :)

I agree, maybe some kind of 'mermaid-style' petticoat (unseen, of course) to help the skirt keep its flared shape. Otherwise, it's gorgeous- and I especially like the headdress. It's obvious you put a ton of time into it.

It's absolutely beautiful! I can tell you put a lot of hard work into it! I esepcially love the headdress and frame... very beautiful!

Other than what's already been mentioned, the bottom of her dress seems to be a bit lighter than what it is now judging from refernce pictures, but I'm sure even getting the gradient in there would've been hard to begin with. ^^

Beautiful costume. I remember the character from the game and thought the cape part to the costume was more sheer then the fabric you choose. I did see at my local JoAnn's a fabric that would be perfect to replace the ones you used in the pic. It has more of an iridecent/transparent look to it which I think would be more perfect for your costume. If you want I can go tomorrow to locate the name/type/numbers for the fabric so you can see if you can track down the fabric and see if its to your liking.

More lipstick! Edea has fuller (but not as wide) lips as you have. You can put lipstick outside of your lips - dun be afraid ^_^ Also go for more "cat eye" eyes with the eyelinder, and maybe try darkening your brows.

OOOOO! it looks absolutely wonderful!, i really like the way your back oranament came out..gorgeouse...!

I have to agree with the makeup suggestions, though I LOVE the veins on your face. They look beautiful! I can't wait to see what your improved version will look like.

For your new fan, perhaps you can make the details a little narrower? (note: like others, I'm really scraping the barrel for things to criticize... it's just too good) Your headdress is AMAZINGLY detailed, and perhaps adding that sort of attention to the fan would add alot to the costume (it is the eye-catching part) (... heh heh... that could be a bad pun I just made if you think about walking through large crowds with it...)

Be sure to post more pictures as you fix up the costume! (I really envy anyone who gets to see this costume in person. It's VERY nice.)

OMG That headpiece is incredible! How on earth did you make it!?

03-21-2004, 03:36 PM
Jeez!! That's an awesome Edea costume. I think it's the best one I have ever seen. I really do like the gradient on your dress, you don't see that to often. Your headpiece and fan are just like........wow, to good! I think the only thing is to add more lipstick, but that color is the perfect Edea color. I think Edea would be proud. ^_^

>OMG That headpiece is incredible! How on earth did you make it!?

The main "ingredients" are celluclay, paperclay, aluminum foil cores in the horns, and hot glue. And various other things ^^;;. It took me forever to make though...

I like your feathers too ^^ You have the best Edea i've EVER seen! Beautiful. Are you going to Otakon?

>Are you going to Otakon?

Sadly, no. I can't afford any out of state cons right now... maybe I can make it next year. ^_^

[edit] - Eek, we look alike in our avatars! Ahahahaha~

All I can say is: wow. I'm very, very impressed with this costume. The only thing I can think of is that you might want to accentuate the bottom of the skirt more.
