So, for NYCC, I plan to do a vintage harry potter themed costume, probably influenced by the 1940s and 50s, so McGonagall's Era. I really want to cosplay either a young McGonagall or a Young Poppy Pomfrey, and I really want to get a whole group together of teachers as students so fingers crossed

From young mcgongall I plan to get a school dress in grey, use my gryffindor tie, get a red sash to tie around the waist, put a house patch and prefects/head girl badge on the dress, wear my dark brown Eowyn wig from Arda and braid it and tie it off with a tartan ribbon, and then little details like her books, a back pack from the era, maybe even a celtic cross since her father is a pastor

For Poppy Pomfrey my plan is to do the same basic set up, but in ravenclaw, get a nurses cap, do 1950s hair on my own, get a badge that says Poppy Pomfrey Student Healer, get a little first aid kit and fill little vials with colored water and then healing books and a back pack

What do you guys think

Well, if you are not going to be Movie-Accurate, it sounds fine. ;)
Anything goes I guess when it's Original Design.

Anyhow, that reminds me, I think I had FINALLY found the right Tie (well, almost) for the 1940s Students based on the design from Chamber of Secret. Can't wait to improve my 1942 Moaning Myrtle Costume as I had to wear my Style 2 Slytherin Tie the few times I did her ;)

Actually, it can be considered movie accurate. There is a picture on the Harry potter wiki about the different uniforms and one of the pictures shown is a Slytherin girl wearing a gym slip as I described above. We never really got a full view of the Riddle era besides myrtle so I think it all is creative play since it is never see. Besides one picture.

Oh, the dress you said you're using is you meant a Gym-Slip/Pinafore.
Ya, I had a Pinafore made specially for my 1942 Myrtle eons ago as of all things, hers has 5 Pleats! >_< (Pinafore in my Country only come in 3 Pleats on each side and mostly blue anyway).
But the Tie I used Green-with-Silver-Double-Strips as that is what it looks like on Myrtle.

I really like this idea. I am also planning on some sort of Harry Potter themed Cosplay for NYCC this year, though not sure what yet though.

Here is some places that researched different era's of HP clothing if you need it.

Woh! WHY didn't the images of Myrtle without her School Robe appears around 2004? >_< I had to go around begging people to do screencaps and torture my VCD to see the design of her Pinafore.

Thanks for the head-up btw :)
