I don't know if this is affecting everyone else, but do you guys have these strange ads on both sides on this site with ads that link to games? It's so distracting I literally just pricked myself with my sewing needle... I have pop-up blocked on my computer so I am wondering if this is affecting anyone else. Is this only affecting on Google Chrome users?

YES. It's so annoying.

I thought it was just me. Well then.

Also, I'm on Firefox so I don't think it's a browser issue so much as a site issue.

These just popped up on mine as well, and I use Firefox.

It seems to be codded into the site so they can make some moneys. They really need a better and less intrusive way though, otherwise people using addblock will just increase. :/

We recently partnered with a 3rd party who is taking over ad sales for the website, in order to increase our revenues so we can hire on a programmer full time.

Part of it includes skinning some sections of the website. The current skins that are appearing are test ads (called remnant ads) which are basic ads that are running until they have brought in longer-term advertisers. A few of them are a bit on the ugly side, but they will start fitting better into the look and feel of the website soon.

Skins will *not* appear on any profiles, photos, or costumes, and will mainly appear on the forums and category pages of the site.

Additionally, one thing we're looking to do is just remove much of the advertising for logged in users, but we need to run the test through for a while before we can go further on that.

I don't find that the sidebar ads are distracting any more than others, BUT if people post images that are too wide it makes the post deform and stretch behind the ad on the right. :P Case in point, Noize's post is doing that, and I can't see the right-hand side of the image or the far-right end of each line of text.

Yeah, I see them too, and also not liking them. Distracting while on my computer (especially since they don't scroll down with the page) and almost impossible to browse on my phone.

Yeah, i'm also getting 'em. I logged on and thought it was just my computer going haywire or something, but I guess i'm not the only one. Btw, i'm using Safari.

IE browser at my job doesn't seem to have this problem. Interesting.

Aww skin(background) ads. They not so bad as the usually only focus on 1 tad at a a time, rather then then online gaming mash-up right now.

This site runs them all the time the have a main ad bar on top that is flash/video driven then they also run a skin ad in the background in conjunction with that bar ad space.

I never full size my browser window which means they never show so I never noticed them until I saw this, but they're there for me too. They're not that obnoxious IMHO but then again, I don't usually see them.

My monitor is 42in. I get them and they are gigantic....but then I realized that I have Firefox and disabled the scripts. Much better.

Yeah I have adblock and do not track me. I only pause adblock on sites that aren't annoying or for LoL streamers.

Personally I don't mind the ads.

They give a bit more color to this site. o_o;

I am selfish and use adblocker.
When the ads get less obnoxious, let me know.. I shall disable it only for this site so I can support it to not be so heartless.

I'm just annoyed that I keep clicking on them by accident when I'm scrolling down.

Hmm. Started getting pop-ups from this site. Just one so far, and it closed itself. Guess it got through my pop-up blocker somehow.

...I don't see this going over too well.

We do not and have never had pop-ups on the website. Ad network filtering explicitly keeps those from ever appearing here. Once in a great while, a pop-up might slip through the filter, but in my experience it's been on a ratio of literally one in a million ad views, tops.

The only other "pop-up" I can think of is the PM notification pop-up, but otherwise we would never ever run them.

It definitely came from here unless it appeared from thin air.
This site was the only tab I had open.
But again, it's only been once and it closed itself.. No idea what that really was haha
