All,

I have been looking thorugh the photo galleries and have found this pic: http://images.cosplay.com/photo.php?photo=7631&lang=eng

I was wondering if any one knew of a commercial place to get a dress like this one.

my mom sells them at her store, but we are from canada, and you are not.

try ebay or there should be a place somewhere in your local china town.

A quick Google search came up with these:

http://www.goodorient.com/goodorient/customer/home.php?cat=258
http://www.cybamall.com/dragons/dresses.html
http://asianideas.com/qipao.html
http://www.easycatalog.net/admin/run.cgi?prog=publish&category=3f1686b60126b11a&session=briverlily

Hope these help! ^_^
Though I agree about checking your local China Town! ^_^

My god, I have a dress almost EXACTLY like that (it was custom made to actually fit me better than store-bought, but that's a standard stock-print Chinese fabric that's been around for over 20 years.)

Taipa,

What did you use as your search criteria? The first link has just the dress I'm looking for, now I just need the money to get one.

Bipolarbunny, where is your store?

in langley. although we only have that silver colour in a child size.

if you want a particular size or colour and we don't have it, if you are willing to pay $10 more we will ship it from Nam for you, takes about a month because their postal service bites.

I believe I just searched for "chinese dress" which gave a few useful links, and then another search for "cheongsam" (since I couldn't remember how to spell it until it came up in the first search ^_~) ^_^

Or you can sew your own. I know that Jo Ann Fabrics has a beautiful oriental fabric line in their stores right now. And I know for a fact that there are patterns like that available. Its worth a shot =) This is a cosplay site, you know. ^,~

yeah, you can buy pretty good patterns for it, i think the hardest thing would be the piping as my mom (who is a professional tailor) says she can't do neatly since it goes all the way around the edges and you would have to cut the fabric diagonally, which takes up A LOT of it and then it's also tiny and the curves are hell to do.

also frog buttons cost about $5 for 2, which is a bloody rip off.

I've given that thought, but don't know how to sew. Plus I don't have time to take on another, possibly expensive hobby. ^_^

eBay is your friend. ;) $30 I have seen the most expensive and about $5 shipping. I personally have never seen a retail place that carries them. :(

Anyone know where I can find a Chinese dress with longer sleeves and a flat chest? Something a bit more flattering on a guy without being a robe. I might have to look into ao dais.

I like this one:
