View Full Version : Boot Covers for AC2 Ezio?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me/give me any advice for making boot covers for my Ezio cosplay. I've watched tutorials on how to make different kinds of covers, but my problem is, I don't know what kind of materials I would need for this particular type. I've made one set, and they turned out to be a complete mess.

Hmm, well I once made a tutorial about them. They turned out a bit sucky but the progress I use to make booth covers stayed the same.
I used leather from an old couch. A pretty good way to save up lot's of money, but at the time I didn't quite refine the techniques of putting everything together.
As of now I can advice you to just follow the progress of patterning it out and after that decide what you want to do. In case of old leather from couches you got leather that is about 1,5 mm thick. Some of the edges look better when you fold and sew them and other edges (like the ones from little belts) will look better if you keep a rough edge. In this case one layer of leather won't be enough to get a nice thickness, so you can bulk it up by using two layers (old leather is for free, so that doesn't matter that much). I end up putting a piece of plastic between them (from old milk containers) to make them more regid. Sew the edges and it will look fine =).
I recently started to back some leather parts with ground isolation foam (it's cheap, so that's why I use it). This gives it some thickness (you might want to try that with the front of the greave).
As I allready mentioned, the tutorial I made leaves you with flat ugly greaves, so you might want to look at some of my other leather work to get an idea of what you can do:
Backed with isolation foam the leather will get a nice thickness, as I did with my Edward leather vest:
Backed with plastic I made all the belts for my Connor costume. The weaponbelts are backed with some real sturdy PVC to make sure the guns etc won't displace anything (as you can see I still sew every edge to make it look better):
In the above image you can also see what effect folding the edges of the leather does (the vambrace and holsters are constructed that way).
Hope that helped.

No problem, glad I could help. Would be a waste if I keep all that knowlage to myself, wouldn't it?
Thanks for the compliments btw, you're always welcome to visit my page, finished results over there haha: http://trujin.deviantart.com/
