View Full Version : Professional Photo Shoots?

Where do people get all those really nice photos of their costumes at the convention? Are there photographers there or something? Where are they?
Sorry for all the questions. This is my first con! Thanks!

There are tons of photographers at conventions, but most of them aren't professional. They're usually just other cosplayers, or people who keep online convention photo galleries. My photos don't usually turn out very nice, but that's because I'm horribly unphotogenic. :geek:

People with cameras at the con are everywhere, pretty much. Less in the dealer's room because of space problems, though.

mmhmm infini is right. TONS of photographers (amateur and pros too) at conventions

Animenorth actually will have a pretty professional photo area this year, so you will probably be able to get a couple really great shots there ^_^

well, i think most really nice pictures are just by people who are good at taking photos! i think that's basically it............this year, i'll be making a video documentation on AN! for fun and also to promote AN to my anime club :D i'm gonna be bringing a normal camera, too! so, watch out cosplayers! XD

I'll be bringing my digital camera with me so I should be able to take some pics and email them to you

I'm sure after this con, there will be a post on where to find cosplay pics! Hee hee I'll definitely plug my site and others as well. ^_^ Ikegami [http://www.pictures.adaelis.com/] and Anime Cafe [http://www.animecafe.net/conventions/] always have a lot!

There are plenty -- tons, even -- of people taking pictures, but it doesn't necessarily mean that you'll be able to get your hands on their pictures. Some photographers create galleries on the web and post a link to them at the boards (especially the official AN board). You might find yourself there. Some have a friend take pictures with their camera. And so on.

Anime North will have a photography room which should be staffed most of the time. IIRC, it will be located in the center of the South wall (the long wall with no exits) of the TCC. Feel free to come have your picture taken there. When we're not in the photography room, we'll be around. There will be 3 or 4 photographers with AN staff badges labeled photography crew (or something like that), incl myself (http://www.pictures.adaelis.com/) and Thrikreen (http://www.animecafe.net/conventions/). Bother us! That's what we're there for. We're not pros, but we have experience at taking con photos (see above links), we have good digital cameras (4MP = 2272x1704 in my case, way more than needed for prints) and tons of disk space for pictures (20GB in my case).

I will be placing a poster at the photography room listing known photoshoots and allowing people to add to the list.

I've been thinking about you, wondering what you'll be bringing this year. I'll know soon enough!

Really !? *flattered*
Well if the thinking was in a good way.
Its going to be a quiet AN for me, don't know to many people coming. Probably spending most of my time helping out at the AB booth.

Costumes this year..
Eclair from Kiddy grade
Rosette (if I get it done in time.. but I don't have the right wig yet >.<)
Black Anko (its a variation on a character from Naruto.. its just an easy costume though)

Did I tell you I sold my Mint Costume, someone offered to buy it. So I'm going to redo the whole outfit and make it 67% better!

You wearing anything?

as long as i don't catch u in varanoir again ^_~

05-13-2004, 07:47 PM
Iee *embarassed*
LOL just kidding.
I won't be wearing varanoir for awhile :)
Though 2 times isn't so bad considering that some people wear their costumes to every con every year. While thats not bad.. I like to keep it fresh :)

aye, of course I meant that in a good way! I looove your costumes. I don't see how you could make Mint any better than you already had. Looking forward to taking another bite of your Eclaire ;)

And yes, I imagine I will be wearing something. Unless some lucky lady brings me to her room... oh! you mean costume! I'm making a giant chicken from Sprited Away for the masquerade. I can't guarantee I'll be wearing it outside the masq.

I think I steered the thread off topic... talk to you soon
