My boyfriend and I are going to get to AnimeNEXT by bus. We plan to take a bus to NYC, then catch an NJ Transit bus/train to the con.

Our options are
Greyhound ($110 for both of us roundtrip)
Fung Wa bus (chinatown bus) - site won't load
Lucky Star bus - 10 bucks each way. I wonder if Lucky Star IS Fung Wa?

I think we're going to go with the Lucky Star bus, since it's cheap and all buses have the same travel time of 4.5 hours. The next question is if anyone has had any bad experiences with Lucky Star? I know my friend has taken the "chinatown bus" (presumeably the Fung Wa) from NYC to Boston several times to see me, and with little problem.

Secondly, for the locals, is the "corner of Chrystie and Hester St" IN Chinatown? And how would I get to the Port Authority from there?

ps. - can a staff member fix the title of this thread?

Yes, that's in Chinatown. Just grab the A,C, or E train from the Canal St. station up to the 42nd/Port Authority station. Or better yet, see if the bus driver will drop you off at the Port Authority.

yes thats in chinatown
actually i think the grand street station is closer, if youre taking the grand street station, go uptown with B or D train then at west 4th street, transfer to uptown A C or E train to 42/Port authority

if you choose to go with canal street, take the Q, R, W uptown to Union Square, then transfering to the L to 14st and transfering uptown A C E to 42/Port authority

the chinatown buses are quite cheap (i was planning to take one up to anime boston, alas no $$) and most of the time there wont be a problem with them, just have to be on time heheh..
