If I'm going to wear lipstick for a long period of time, what is a good way to keep it from drying? Just so I don't have to keep re-aplying it over and over.

I've never encountered a lipstick, expensive or cheap, that "dries off". However, just about any lipstick may need a touchup after you eat, drink, kiss, or do anything else likely to smudge it off your lips.

I've never drying lipstick either, but there are some tricks to setting it to help it last longer. You can use a lipstick pencil for first coverage, then a regular tube lipstick. Blot lightly with a tissue, brush on (lightly!) a neutral/clear setting powder on your lipstick, then reapply with the tube lipstick.
For a more matte finish, you can reapply with more setting powder. Or, for a shinier wet look, a final coat of lip gloss.

Have you ever heard of SoftLips? It's very moisture rich and lasts for a long time. It also has spf 20 to protect your lips from the elements. I usually apply it over my regular lipstick and it helps it last longer and stay moist. Plus it comes it yummy flavors like vanilla, champagne, and strawberry.

I find ALL lipsticks to be drying, ranging from "annoying" to "serious chapping". Long-wear lipsticks seem to be the worst culprits for me, so I avoid them in favor of moisturizing types. I also apply a layer of plain Chapstick under the lipstick. If you have a problem with lipstick seeming to wear off quickly, I think it's best to stick with natural-looking colors that are close to the shade of your lips so it's less noticeable.
But no matter what you use, you'll have to reapply *something* eventually. Like needing to re-powder or blot every couple of hours to avoid a shiny face in photos. Makeup needs to be frequently checked and fixed, that's all. ^^;

Only tip I can say is if you don't want it to feel dry.. put it on, lightly blot it with a tissue so it's not too thick, then use roll gloss over it. It'll feel a bit better and be nice and shiny. ^_^
With my lipstick experience though... carry the color you're using with you for tough-up's, and don't eat anything like burgers.. something like popcorn chicken and fries would be a much better meal if wearing lipstick.. unless it's that stay-put lipstick, I've noticed it really does stay rather well even after eating.

Use Lip Venom over it, or one of their colors. I adore that stuff. It makes your lips super-super shiny.

I get this stuff from Victoria's Secret called Sweet Talk and I put that over my Regular Gloss or lip stick that makes it shiny and it lasts for about 4 hours with light drinking and eating.It cost $7.00 a bottel but I bought one 6 months ago and it lasts forever!!!

to keep the colour going strong, first apply foundation to your lips.
to keep it from drying..try gloss (clear or with a matching colour) to keep it from fading, or any one of those drug store brand lipsticks with the 8 hour lasting power. they work.
