I read in a forum where they talked about pre-recording the voices for your skit.

I was going to be doing a skit at Ohayocon 05 and was wondering if I should do that.

(BTW: We'll be the 'fanfiction gone BAD' group  )

Your choice of font color is really hard to read...

Personally, I'm all for prerecording. It guarantees you'll be under your time limit, that everyone will hear you, and you won't have to worry about forgetting your lines.

Only issues might be that the player might not be able to play a burned cd (I don't know of many, but it happened once), or that the sound levels might be off (be sure to check your cd on various players first, to make sure the L-R balance is ok).

I've used burned cds, and once it worked perfect, and the other time it didn't. I'm guessing with the one time it didn't, they had funky things set up with their sound system (only volunteers, none of them AV trained).

Go for it! All you really need is a computer and a microphone (the kind that go over your ears and have a speak thingy like operators do is nice); you can download the software from the internet (for the editing purpose). Be sure to complete it early, so you can practice with it beforehand.

Good luck!

I agree that pre-recording is the way to go. One related piece of advice though, is to practice with your recording, to work on lip-syncing and cues. Since the voices will not be coming from your mouths, also try to use expressive body movements to accentuate who is talking and what they're talking about.
