Hey is anyone going to the next Fanime Con? Maybe we could have another Naruto gathering and I'll cosplay as TenTen from Naruto, since not a lot of people have done her.

06-29-2004, 02:16 PM
Hi! I'm going next year. We need to have another Naruto gathering. :3 I think we should have it on a Sunday again. ._."

06-29-2004, 03:25 PM
Sup, I'm going to Fanime '05. :bigtu: I'm not really a Naruto cosplayer, but it would be cool to take another group pic of all of the Naruto players again!

06-29-2004, 11:04 PM

That's good. This year's Fanime Con didn't have a TenTen, Kurenai, Asuma, Gai, Temari, and Kisame. Who were else were we missing?

06-29-2004, 11:42 PM

I'm going as Temari next year! :3 So we have that taken care of. I'm doing her on Sunday.

331 Days!!!!!!!

06-30-2004, 01:41 AM
probably. dunno as what though >.<

06-30-2004, 06:00 PM
I'll be going again. I'll get a Zaku costume for Naruto-ness. I also have my Metal Gear Solid soldier costume, though I ought to pick up some sort of prop weapon to complete it. I'll hopefully also have a costume of a Halo Marine (not the green master chief). Yeah, it's not related to anime, but I couldn't pass the chance up to work on something with the Hi-Impact armor guys. (they held a panel at Fanime for '04, and hopefully *crossing fingers* will do so again next year. If that's the case, this time I must video tape it for reference)

06-30-2004, 10:41 PM
I'M GOING!!! I'll be cosplaying as Dizzy from Guilty Gear XX and Sasuke in sexy no jutsu form (my friend is going to be Naruto in sexy no jutsu form XD ). It will be awesome. I might do an Anko (from Naruto) costume if I don't forget.

07-01-2004, 02:25 AM
i'll be going for sure! i plan on being an ANBU member (probably ANBU kabuto)

07-01-2004, 04:34 PM
I'm going next year too but not as a Naruto character, I don't know who I'm going to be cosplay as, I'm still thinking of who I want to be, I have a year to think about it.

07-01-2004, 04:57 PM
Dont forget about Kimi no Hanyo!!! If you live near Sacramento, its the place to be 2005!!

07-01-2004, 05:45 PM
Kind of hard to say.

This year, it was on top of BayCon, and I was already booked for that. Plus, I didn't have an anime costume, and my hard-fast rule is that I don't plan to go to an anime con until I have at least one anime costume to wear.

We'll see though. :) Especially if said anime costume is done.

07-01-2004, 06:36 PM

im quite the procrastinator *kekeke* so thats why im working on next years costumes NOW.

I figure i have a lot of procrastinating to fit in between now and next year... ;)

07-02-2004, 05:32 PM
I wanna go, but I'm currently still recovering financially from this year's Fanime, and saving for Yaoi-con.

07-06-2004, 03:55 PM
I defineitly(I know i spelled that wrong) want to go next year. I'm already saving up money (I quit the high school cheerleading squad just to get a job at Konocti Harbor Resort and Spa to make money for anime conventions and cosplay!). I dunno what I'll cosplay as though...maybe sakura...I'll think about it... :bigtu:

My group and I are trying to make it to next year con, I heard it was really fun this year. But to bad we won't be able to join the photo shoot, we're all cosplaying Sailor Moon Characters. Maybe we could get a photoshoot for that going.... :jjacks: *thinks of a bunch of other things to do*

08-17-2004, 05:09 PM
I'm going next year, but I'm going to try to cosplay as Cheza from Wolf's Rain. Anyone else doing Wolf's Rain Cosplay?

08-18-2004, 01:21 AM
I'll be going next year, as either Zell Dincht or Leon Kennedy (RE2 style) depending on which one I finish first.

08-19-2004, 06:25 PM
*raises hands* im going ^^ but at this point, i don't know what days im going and im unsure of who as... possibly haku in his pink sleeveless kimono thing and ritsu sohma in his pink/ light purple kimono or his yellow one or momiji in his new years kimono. haku..ritsu..& momiji are such dears. there are much more possiblities. =3 i can't choose!

I'm definitely going. I missed 04's since no one would go with me...
Anyways, I won't be cosplaying as any of the Naruto cast but instead Marik from Yugioh and Tifa from AC ^^;;

08-21-2004, 05:30 PM
i REALLY want to go..but im not sure if i can.i need to find a ride..and its about 1:30 mins away from where i live.my aunties and uncles live in san jose..but they might not even wana go.(my cousins/aunties/uncles arnt into anime). so yeah..i already asked my mom n dad bout it...n they keep asking me "whos going to bring u?"

08-24-2004, 06:50 PM
you might be able to go with me and my group if u can...i'll ask my mom. if everything goes according to plan, i'll have one more hotel room then last year, giving us more room, meaning more people can join (all my friends from where I live: Clearlake) so, just in case, start saving!!! ^_^

08-24-2004, 10:51 PM
Fanime Con next year will be on the same night as my Senior Prom! But that's on a Saturday night anyway...I'll be going on Sunday to catch the music fest (or also known as the Gaku Fest) it was so fun this year!! Hopefully my whole family will come too...my mom, dad, and two brothers. As for cosplaying...I'll be going as Mana from Malice Mizer (Gardenia). I'm almost done with it...I just need the acessories...since I'll be wearing this costume for Halloween this year!

08-26-2004, 03:56 PM
hi this might sound stupid...but....where is fanime?????

08-26-2004, 06:57 PM
hi this might sound stupid...but....where is fanime?????

Fanime is at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, California. It takes place on Memorial Day weekend If I remember correctly :p .

08-27-2004, 05:21 AM
ohhhhhhhh ok thanks

08-27-2004, 05:36 AM
Fanime is at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, California. It takes place on Memorial Day weekend If I remember correctly :p .

why do all the cons have to be in california????? is it because it's a big state ...what?????....i wish i lived in california...(currently living in connecticut...only one con a year :waaaah: )

08-27-2004, 08:10 PM
I'm going to go. I can't miss Fanime cause it's my hometown con :D

08-27-2004, 09:21 PM
cry....cry........stupid connecticut

08-29-2004, 05:01 PM
I'm totally going to show up. Transportation should be easier, since I'll be in Santa Cruz instead of all the way in ghetto P. Hill. I know I'll be wearing Rinoa (especially if Zellie, Selphie and them are going) and maybe Shia because I just love that costume. I'm going to try out female Sanosuke at JTAF and if that works, I'll wear that to Fanime as well.

This is assuming I can afford to even GO for three days. I need to recover some funds...

08-30-2004, 08:06 PM
I'm going to Fanime 2005 ^^ I wouldn't miss it for the world... though I'll have to miss part of the day for my cousins wedding in Reno, but I'll just fly there and back and hopefully not miss much. Besides my friends won't shut up about it. That's all they talk about which is nice but it kind of ruins the though. SHEIK WILL RETURN!

09-02-2004, 04:28 PM
I, Fallen_Magician, shall take it into consideration...Actually....I think I will go! :P Cause I'm trying to plan a Soul Caliber Group for that.

09-22-2004, 12:57 PM

I"m going to go! And for more than one day! YAY!

09-24-2004, 12:38 AM
I'm committed for Fanime 2005. So much, that I preregistered for '05 during the Saturday of '04. (Second year in a row I've pre-registered.) At least that's one entry on my list, everything else besides Fanime is still up in the air.

Costumes will come during the off-season, of course.

09-24-2004, 07:50 AM
Not if it conflicts withBayCon again. There's no WAY I'm missing one of the best-run and fully-programmed and awesomely-night-life-partied SF/F "Eclecticons" on the West Coast.

I've been attending the 21-year-old BayCon for 11 years; IMHO it's just a better con than Fanime, more established and more smoothly run, has a much better Masquerade than Fanime, and has wizbang efficient Security and Tech crew, though the focus is multi-genre, not just Anime. It's also designed to appeal to a whole actual community of all ages, not just a narrow demographic of 14-21. It's more laid back and "relaxed-feeling" than Fanime, despite its MUCH fuller programming schedule. (Expect lots of compliments on your costume, but far less photos. It's a bit different mentality.)

And as far as "creepy fanboys" - the SF community at cons like BayCon is hyper-protective of the underaged. Many of us are PARENTS and RELATIVES of kids. "Creepy fanboy stalkerism" doesn't get far at this kind of con.

I will drop by Fanime if there is a "lull" (I dropped by Fanime on the last day this year.)

09-25-2004, 07:48 PM
I'm quite sure the "upper management" at Fanime con must have their reasons for scheduling Fanime on the same day as Bay Con. But whatever I'll be at Fanime that's for sure, maybe I'll stop by at Bay Con for a day just to see what it's like.

In all honesty I could care less about Bay Con but with all of the hoopla about Fanime vs. Bay Con I'll admit my curiousity for Bay Con has grown by 10X....now :)

09-25-2004, 09:03 PM
Furuba gathering anyone? =]
im gonna be either kisa sohma, summer tohru, zodiac banq. momiji, or ritsu in his girl's kimono.. yea i know i havta narrow down my list.. but hey its still early..

I'm going to Fanime in '05. :D This is so cool. I live in Fremont and it's about a 10-20 min ride to get there. My friend's parent is going to drive us there.

I soooo want to cosplay as a Naruto character, but sadly, I have no costume, no money (I spent it on the pre-registration... now, i have about... $12), and no sewing skills.

If any of you live in the Fremont area, attend Irvington High School, and knows how to sew (or put together very good) costumes, would you befriend me? Please? I beg of YOU! I must cosplay!

If any of you fill out these requirements, you would probably already be in the Anime Club...

I must cosplay!!

About the Naruto gathering, if you plan one, you must tell me where and when it takes place!! I'm a fan of Naruto. I don't know a lot about the series, but I know enough and am still a fan. I heard that a gathering took place this year and I missed it. I didn't miss the Duck, Duck, Goose game but I missed THE GATHERING!

Are any of you willing to make me a naruto cosplay outfit and give it to me (for free or a for a VERY SMALL fee, like $2)? Probably not, but one can only hope. PLZ?!?!?!

09-26-2004, 12:05 PM
i missed the gathering too x_x ill try for 05 too
and... fanime isn't till next year, and in may.. thats quite a long time. theres still time to gather your money and make a costume much later =P i don't think anyones going to give you a costume, coz ya know, the hard work and $$ put in kekeke ;] maybe try asking to borrow a costume from someone.

hmm and maybe i should start a new thread for the fruits basket gathering..

10-04-2004, 11:37 PM
When is BayCon? I haven't been to a regular con since the last Worldcon I was at...

10-05-2004, 04:07 AM
BayCon is traditionally on Memorial Day weekend, and runs for 4 days.

Here's their website, but it hasn't been updated for the 2005 convention yet...

10-05-2004, 12:40 PM
I had so much fun this year that before I left I paid for next year!
I also hope to have two cameras shooting (an associate and myself) so that I can photgraph more cosplayers!
Love and Peace

10-05-2004, 02:21 PM
I'm so going to Fanime 05! This is my home con and I wouldn't miss it for the world! ^_^

I'm gonna be hosting/organizing a few gatherings (i.e. FFVIII and Soul Calibur) so be on the look-out for those.

I'll see you guys there in seven months!

10-12-2004, 12:07 PM
I'll be going to Fanime '05!

This year, my sign will be better, I'll have a room, and (hopefully) a PDA to store the e-mails of all my fangirls.

I am also going to bring a helluvalot of luggage. Mostly Costumes, cosmetics, cat appendages (Kyo costume...), sewing kit, food, ice chest filled with my beverages :drink: of choice ( CAFFIENE!!! ), PS2, and my next vibrating plushie for Dom (Of Megatokyo) to bless.

Also, if anyone wants to help split the cost of a room... I am looking for room mates. Preferably fellow cosplayers. I only have one rule for the rooms, if you can't help pay... Bring food or drink...

---EDIT Oct 14, 2004 8:28 am---

Did I scare everyone away? *tear*

10-19-2004, 12:29 PM
Deffinately going. Fanime was the first con I went to back in '01. Fanime love! See you all there, I hope.

For costumes, I'm trying to get together FFVII:AC Tifa, SCII Seung Mina 2P, and GGXX Dizzy (Jellyfish crew). I'll probably wear Rinoa and maybe one or two others too, but those are the new ones ^^

10-29-2004, 09:39 PM
I'd like to attend, and it will be my first big anime convention (I went to RECCA con, but that was more like a mini-con ^_^). I'll have to see how much money I have after I go to E3 tho -_-;;

11-01-2004, 11:49 PM
i'll definitely be there!

11-02-2004, 01:01 AM
im going to the fanime! *dances* i cant wait! im so far planning on being kagura from inuyasha(always a nice safe costume, eh?)

11-03-2004, 11:15 PM
I'm gonna try to get there (if it matters ^^;;; ) and hopefully I'll have a chance to see everyone's wonderful costumes.

11-06-2004, 10:21 PM
so far im pretty sure im going but im still iffy about the costume... i dont really know who i want to be. im starting to think about being someone from Wolfs Rain instead of Inuyasha, but in wolfs rain the costumes are either too easy or too hard *sigh*

11-10-2004, 09:08 AM
fanime 04' was my 1st and will be my home con, even though 04' wasnt that organized especially with con security, but ill be several characters.
sephiroth, snake (metal gear solid 3),bryan fury, and ???? you'll have to wait to see my ultimate costume from a certain violent game.

11-28-2004, 05:50 PM

My friend's dad was one of the people who started Fanime, and she says that in the past, it used to be scheduled in June or July, after school ended, but what happened was turnout was poor because of Comic Con and Anime Expo (or one of those two).

The reason why it's on Memorial weekend is because then the turnout would be the greatest, since most university and high schools, as well as workplaces let out for this holiday.

Now that's set aside.... My friends and I are going~ I need to go and do a dance/fight choreography number with my Xianghua, as well as show up with BAAU.

Of course Im going to 05~~~

As Beramode from war Of Genesis... probablyno one has heard of him ::sniffles::
Hmm, Im not sure what my second costume will be, but Ill have one for sure.

12-06-2004, 02:29 AM
You can count me in for attending the 2005 version of Fanime as I attempt to do the impossible feat of visiting both Baycon and Fanime during the same weekend.

*Wheee! You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll kiss sanity bye-bye* :schitzo:

Actually should be a great weekend, Baycon is a well established "stately" convention in comparision to Fanime, and has it's own well established culture with great art show, dealers room, and evening events. But that being said, there is something about the nonstop cosplay and energy that a convention of 6000 brings. And the San Jose convention center is a great location and easy to reach from the Baycon airport Doubletree location.

Just hope that I can keep my photos from each convention straight when the time comes for posting them to my gallery.
