If you are interested here is the Live Journal Community (http://www.livejournal.com/community/hp_picnic/) where are the planning is taking place. Everyone who is interested is invited to join and we look forward to hearing your ideas and hope to see you there.

--oh and Admins, I wasn't quite sure if it was okay to post this here, if it isn't I am sorry.--

I'm interested! Where is it going to be? I read the LJ but I see no location information.

We don't have a location yet but we are open for suggestions.

We found a site with great information on how to cook certain dishes used in the books and movies. Plus someone figured out a way to play Quidditch.

As of now though we aren't sure if we should have everyone team up in their houses or sort people.

OCparks.com is a listing of all the county parks. Great place to start, that's where I did.

QUIDDITCH!! Right on! I call Keeper or Chaser ^^

And people should definitely be sorted. But I'm sure everyone is capable of sorting themselves. But there should be stickers or something givin out at the picnic to show what house someone is in. Even if they're as simple as Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green dots ^^

Oh boy, here comes MY sorting confliction. I'm SUPPOSED to be a Ravenclaw, but fate dealt me with the perfect Slytherin costume....

It doesn't matter how many tests I've taken, I've ALWAYS came out as a Slytherin >_<

Hahah I am Slytherin too!

Yeah see thats one of the problems we were worried about. People would want to be in the house that they think they belong in So the team sizes would be uneven. Everyone would want to be a Gryffindor or a Slytherin and there wouldn't be any Ravenclaws or Hufflepuffs. Although if we do that we might be able to combine teams like the Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs against the Slytherins and Ravenclaws. We really want to have somthing with the houses though because it would make it a lot more fun. For example I was thinking of actually assigning people to keep assign and take away house points. So that way at the end of the day we could have some sort of prize for the winning house.

As of now we have(registerd on LJ)

Slytherin-2
Gryffindor-3
Ravenclaw-1
Hufflepuff-1

Although there are 3 people who have joined and have not added their information so That really doesnt help me get any sort of idea as to how many members of each house are planning on attending.

Right now we have 10 members but I really want to have at least 20.

Alright for those of you who do not have a livejournal and do not want to get one but would like to post in the community here you go
Username-toocoolforanlj
Password-harrypotter

It's all set and joined in the community. Just put whatever you go by on the internet as your subject line and at the end of the post with a little - before it. (ex. -Tomthecoolkid) or whatever. Just to make things clear.
Posting is pretty easy to figure out. Go to http://www.livejournal.com then at the top of the page put your mouse over the word journal on the menu. Then you will see options apear below it. The first being "Update ....." You want to click on the "......" Then write out your post, at the bottom of the page there is a little bit of stuff called "Optional settings" The first thing is "Journal to post in" and a drop down menu. Choose hp_picnic on the dropdown menu. Hit update and you are all set.

Hmm. I'm interested in attending but it depends heavily on when and where it will take place.

You know... you could eventually turn this into a full-fledged Harry Potter convention.

As far as I know, there isn't one in California and I believe one could certainly be needed. ^^

hahaha that would be so crazy if it were to turn into pottercon or somthing along those lines.

There is no way I would be able to fund somthing like that though.

An actual convention is a lot different from just a cosplay gathering with some games, Gainax Boy.... conventions have special guests, panels, and a hell of a lot more events than just getting together at a park to dress up... and all those events cost a whole lot of money to run. Maybe if you have the money you can start one, but I think you should do a little research about things before jumping into ideas like that ^^;

That seemed a bit harsh. He said that perhaps this could eventually be turned into a con. He didn't say he expected someone to pull out their checkbook and starting lining up guests of honor. A lot of Cons start off being really small, with very few events and quite often no special guests at all held at a local school. I see no reason why an anual harry potter picnic couldn't become a harry potter con, eventually. What if it was something a bunch of us thought was a great idea and we worked really hard to make it happen. No reason why a few fund raising events couldn't help us reserve a space somewhere. Well I'm just rambling now so I'll stop :)

Thank you very much Felicity ^__^

Yeah, I was saying eventually it could become a con.

I know of plenty of big-time conventions that started out as small gatherings :)
Nothing hurts from thinking positively ne? ^^
