Whee!!! I've just immersed myself in the wonderful world of Japanese fan comics -- aka doujinshi (btw, it's not doushinji... I think I've heard lotsa people say it that way, I used to, too, but...). NOT weird yaoi crap (although that sometimes happens to come up in books I read... well... tried to read, that is.

OK, I was just wondering if anyone out there scans/translates doujinshi as a hobby, or knows any websites that have these services available. (PLEASE!!! NOT HENTAI!!! YUCK!!!) If not, I'd like to do this! If anyone else wants to join me...

^^;; well, reply to the thread, nya!

Well, I was thinking about doing some translations after I go to Comic Market is Tokyo at the end of the month of some of the things Im going to buy, but that would all DEFINATELY be hentai ~_^

*hits you on the head with a frying pan*

No hentai. No no no no. MAYBE mild comic yaoi... but not hentai. That's just icky IMHO.

But, to each his or her own, ne?

Well, I can say that there -are- many people out there who are available to translate japanese for you, should you provide scans (which is difficult without ruining your favorite doujinshi), but you really will have to pay them. Few can afford to do it out of the goodness of their own hearts (though my friend was translating FF:U After for a school project), but prices tend to be reasonable.

I have a friend who would possibly be interested in it. Her rates are about $5-10 a page, negotiable, I'm sure. What series is the doujinshi from?

X_X FFU:After?! like, the one from the website?!

Well, I'm in Japan learning Japanese, until January, anyway... But, still, I was just thinking of making a website for people to share their Doujin, that's all.

FF7 ^^;; I LOVE FF7!!! ^^;

Nyeh? What website? I mean.. they are making a website, yes, is that what you're talking about? n.n;

As far as people sharing their doujin online, it's a nice idea, but I would recommend against something like that. Doujinshi artists tend not to approve of things like that, even for the sake of translations and gaining publicity... at least, if there were scans of the books. It would be an interesting idea, though, to have worded translations to go with doujinshi with brief descriptions of the panels.. (This works well for some doujin themes more than, ah, others.)

anyway... n.n

Well, I'd love to be in on a project like that. Don't know how good I'll be though. I want to do it mainly because it'll help my Japanese a lot if I'm around it a lot more (text-wise)

Oh yeah, the artists...

But really, for the sake of American fans... I wish we could communicate with them, to let them know they had an American fan following...
