Hey all! Despite the long lines, some of the snooty con staff, no con suite, and walking back n' forth between the Conference Center and the Holiday Inn with high heeled boots on, me and Ultry-chan had a great time at this year's convention. I took almost 50 pictures throughout Friday and Saturday until my batteries in my camera died which was a shame because there were so many other impressive costumes I wanted snap shots of. All of them will be up on my PhotoBucket by tomorrow. ^.^v

All the slots for the masquerade were full but I did get to participate in the hall costume contest for the first time as Captain Harlock. I decided to leave my Arislan costume at home until Katsucon next year. I also hope to dress up as Devilman for that one. Even though I didn't win anything, I still saw some really impressive work and the folks that did win had amazing array of costumes! Nobody came to my Leiji Matsumoto photoshoot yesterday, mainly due to the fact I was the only one dressed as one. The masquerade, despite some technical difficulties, was great. Most of the skits were very well done. They seem to get better every Nekocon. I blew all my money on the Laputa soundtrack, the second volume of the Nausicaa manga, two boxes of regular chocolate Pocky, and a bottle of peach flavored Ramune soda. ^.^v

I ran into several friends of mine except for Kara-chan who I heard was sick. I hope you get better girl! I missed ya'! :::snugs da' Kara-chan::: I also made a ton of new friends and even was a con gopher for a few hours on Friday night. I was totally beat today, so I slept in until 2PM. I heard that next year, NekoCon will be held at the almost-complete Hampton Roads Convention Center. I'll most certainly be attending. ^^

My shoutouts go out to Danny T., EuroBeat King, G-chan, Lander-san, Derek, Rob Lantz, Tikki, that pink haired girl with the huge fluffy feet and paws I talked to after the cosplay photoshoot (I'm terrible with names! :::bows::: ^^;), Cristi-chan and Serge, the gopher crew, the staff, and everyone that made this weekend a kick butt time for me and Ultry-chan! I forgot anyone, please bash me in the head with a giant silver spoon. lol Take care all! ^.^

After a long drive, we made it back to MD. Nekocon was a lot of fun this year! I'm glad I had a chance to "chill out" at a con for once ^_^

Pics will be uploaded ASAP.

I'd write a list of the people I wanna say hey and thanks to, but I think my mind would explode. SO : Agents! (you know who you are!) Here's to another kickass convention! And everyone else I hung with/met, thanks for making this con so much fun. I especially wanna thank Lizakitty, Reiko, and Stuuuuu. You guys made this vacation possible for me, and I REALLY needed it. Thank you!

Yeah, I'm back. The drive was heinous. It took 5 hours for us to drive what should have taken 3 hours, at the most. And now I have a headache. But Nekocon was good this year, though still a little boring at times. I think our panel went off well, and I got to hang out with good friends and eat at Sonic!! Mmmmm...Sonic. We have commercials for them here, but no restaurants anywhere in the area. That's what you call a cock-tease.

I had a good time- By the way- you may have seen me- I was Misha in her school uniform...I wanted to have more than just that one costume- But I got rushed! U_U* Oh well- lots of funny con. pics. and a report should be up on my website really soon. I didn't attend many panels- what was some of the good stuff I missed? I want to say hello to my buddy Giant Alucard, Eurobeat King, and all of my friends that I went with- Steph, "TESTUO", Beth, and the Ultra-cool people I met while standing in line for two hours in the FREEZING cold next to-
Gosh I don't want to attempt to remember their names- but they know remember me and I remember them- burps and group hugs for all! Isn't it funny how cold weather brings cool folk together? Yay for my first Neko Con

Nekocon was a fun experience for me overall. Dispite the fact I had to stay in my friend Shea's (the tall Mr. Kimura walking around fri and sat) very small room at his apartment for the whole con and driving 20 minutes there everyday while getting lost finding are way back almost every night (we suck at directions!)

I met some cool people, like Fory-san and many others who all came to talk to the illustrious Dr. Hentai, or just to give comments about how cool my Tom Servo was. :bigtu:

The costumes were really good I must say, I took a lot of great pictures, but I wish I had taken more. Oh well, it's hard getting out a camera when you've got a robot in one arm and a bag full of stuff in the other. :p

The panels I went to were a lot of fun, Char Hakkai's J-rock panel was great and i'm glad I finally attended. The cosplay contest was a little disapointing to me, a lot of the skits were good, but a few left much to be desired in my oppinion, but I was amazed at just how short the competition was. Then again, I waited nearly two hours in line for something that only last about an hour it seemed.

And now for a little bit of critical ranting:
How many people saw my friend Rob as Pockyman this year? Wasn't he cool? Wasn't it nice of him to throw out full boxes of Pocky to people for nothing except out of his own genorocity? Well... don't expect to see it again.
Sadly, because some idiots have to ruin the fun for everyone by not controlling themselves over 50 cent boxes of cheap bland tasting chocolate. Pockyman is RETIRED and he's not happy about just how stupid people get over the stuff. Seriously, when someone dives over a bush head first into concrete for a box of crappy chocolate sticks and knocks someone else down and my friend gets yelled at by the con staff, it's just not worth it anymore.
He had similiar acts of idiocy happen at Otakon, and the above incident was the last straw... Sorry for those of you who can controll yourself for a box of Pocky, but for the few who can't ruin it for the rest of us...
[END RANT]

Well, aside from the above there, my experience at Nekocon was great, I got a lot of great stuff at the con and even though I drove over 5 hours both ways to get to the con from my home; I hope to see a lot of you at my next con I go to (probably Katsucon or Animazement) and remember, Tom Servo Rules!

Heyas all! Anderson and Alucard finally got home sunday evening after taking a wrong road split that lead us in a circle adding a good hour and half to drive time (last time that vampire will navigate :P)

Want to say hi and thanks to everyone who stopped us for pics or complimented us on our costumes(made me happy lol) .

Shouts out to Fory-san and GreatSG: Finally got to meet both of yas (tho briefly)!
Fory, keep up the faith in the "old school" anime style, history does come full circle :)
SG, Gret to meet you and servo (great job too btw) and get crackin on that crow! LoL.

EurobeatKing, Nice to hav met ya ut never did find your night time table :( Cant wait to see your pics, i know they'll be great :)

Too all the canceled panels and shows (MST3K?) and those few volunteers that went waaaaay overboard on thinking they had to yell at everyone in reguards to rules and policy (including threats) heres a big middle finger for yas! **!** (my biggest complaint of the con)

Props to the Initial D guy (you know who you are, and who we are lol) and anyone else i might have missed. Thanks for all the glomps, tackles, hugs, comments, jokes, and insanity that helped make this fun ^_^

Sidenote: I have 3 cameras of pics that i cant get developed til later in the week (ok i blew $500 at neko so now i need real world money lol) but ill be posting them as soon as i get them done.

This con was very wonderful and I attended a lot of events. For the curious ones I was the man with the boombox on his back as well as cosplaying Kira, Vash, Robo Ky, Iori and a Persocom.

Hey That Guy gave me props up there. Thanks! (lol I have 3 bucks to my name)

Hope everyone had a good time, I miss you all!

GreatSG, I saw your friend walking around, I had no idea he was giving away all those boxes. It's crazy that people got that crazy over it though. I mean, I doubt that they didnt' have $2 to get a box from the dealers themselves (or pay a little extra for a really good flavour). Now that I know how generous he was being it makes me sad that people ruined it :(

I had a great time at Nekocon, was a little less than $200 well spent (wish I had more) and I definitely plan on going next year. My boyfriend and the other guy that stayed with us are going too, and we already have another person who wants to come! (YAY!) We haven't decided what costumes to do for next year yet but we may do a larger Chrono Trigger group one day now that we have a possible Magus and a girl who will be either Lucca or Schala. I was happy to meet so many Sailor Moon cosplayers as well :)

I was a little frustrated that the staff over at RRI got our reservation wrong and our third person had to spend the weekend on a cot, that some people seemed to let authority go to their head, and that I didn't bring a jacket to wear in the freezing cold cosplay line and was desperately in need of hot glue once my velcro started unsticking, but it was great and next year will be better. I was surprised (pleasantly) that neither me nor my boyfriend got glomped even once (though several hugs were received which was very nice. I love hugs!) We're thinking of going to Animazement as well, though it doesn't have the advantage that Nekocon does of being soon after my birthday so I may not be buying much :( I am in need of something of Kuronekosama, some good j-rock or j-pop, a big plush moogle and more doujinshi!

I wish this weekend hadn't had to end!!

Nekocon... was interesting this year. The lack of video rooms (didn't they have three or four last year...?) kind of turned me off, as well as the lack of programming- I did find out why things were going the way they were though; (through various gophers/staff); apparently they were understaffed and overworked- they pretty much drafted one guy (who will now become a con legend... and he doesn't know it) EVERYONE there.

In any case, I did find some parts fun (Hell-con; you know if you were there) and saw some pretty nice costumes, as well as some pretty cool cosplays (the Dead End skit comes to mind, as well as the Kingdom Hearts...)

In any case, I enjoyed it somewhat, but I think the location, hotel issues on our part, and the constant shuffle between the main building and the marriott(?) turned me off a great deal. There also seemed to be a lot (A LOT) of animosity between con-goers and the staff; does anyone know the specifics?

You know this was my major complaint of the con this weekend. The staff seemed really hateful this year. For example, people guarding the dealer's rooms were making rules up that weren't even listed in the book (f.e. no wearing dog collars or chains when going in the dealer's room; at one point they weren't going to let me in with Ultry-chan because it was a possible "weapon"). But yeah, it seemed to me that thanks to some minor hassles at last year's convention some of the staff members felt they had to throw power around over every little thing.

*yay Amp!* (Amp will be making my midnight halo 2 release possible ^_^; )

and i'd like to give a shout out to you stuuuu for having a blanket in his car, so i didn't freeze all my assets off in line for the cosplay =D

initial diesal~ check dizzylizzy's photos ( http://tidalstorm.com/lizzy/album61 i believe) for a short movie clip of when we asked you to do the robot in robo ky!! that was awesome. ^_^

of course there are always issues between powertrippy staff and crazy convention goers, probably the more disturbing part was for anyone who went outside the convention center for, lets say, a bite to eat, only to be escorted out of the mall for being dressed strangely. the least they could've done was let them eat first, jeez. i mean, it makes for an amusing story, but still~ ;_;

(glad it wasn't me, i'm a terror when i'm hungry)

so maybe it's better that i overheard they will try to switch locations next year. also~ horray to the confused pizza delivery guys all weekend :)

Fory, there was a problem with people running around in a conga line while we're trying to seat people for the cosplay. We were trying to get everyone in and start the cosplay as soon as we could. No one was trying to kill anyone's fun, it's just that not everyone was even in and seated yet so having people getting out of their seats and running around the room wasn't helping any.

::waves hi to everyone::

i had no probs with staff. btw, i personally thought getting up and doing the conga was a bad idea since they were getting people in for the cosplay, plus the electronics, and also with what g-chan said. sometimes con-goers get out of hand without thinking. ^^

Agents- luv you as always. thanks for putting up with the room situations that i had to go through. ^^ ::blows kisses::

greg- (who isn't on the forums) you can rock my sox anytime baby. not only a tastey AC cloud, but a fantastic roommate. lar and beth, be sure to tell him he's welcome in my room anytime. ::wink wink::

ainslye- thanks for driving. i know i've already thanked you, but i honestly can't thank you enough.

pixiekitty plus your friend ^^- it was wonderful to meet you guys. in all honesty, i was intimidated. ::blush:: you both looked awesome and were so sweet! hopefully if i ever see you guys again i won't be so shy.

al- well, al..... you know i luv you!

everyone else i didn't mention- you guys were great. it was awesome to hang out with everyone whether it be for 5 minutes or a couple hours. i can't wait to do it all again!

this was my last nekocon. i simply cannot take the drive anymore. INSANE!

As a little comment on the whole congo line before the Cosplay... Not really directed at anyone, of course...

I was back there in the line, and everyone eventually agreed that we were waiting FAR too long. The staff members kept coming in and telling us that they were letting people in. I'm chocking that up as an unexperienced-gopher problem, and also on the fact that the location this year was new. And then we heard that the crowd was getting really rowdy and therefore would elongate the amount of time we had to stand back there.

I'm ALL for the congo lines. Hell, I LOVE them. But not when they're trying to seat people, please. I mean, I know what it's like to have a job made difficult because people want to have fun. They weren't trying to be mean, they were just trying to get things running smoothly, since there were so many hold-ups at the Con this year.

... >.> Ya know? *does the Rikku dance*

Thanks Kat and Dizzy Lizzy, I was indeed a very very sad robot when I could not be in the maskurade. Apparently they didn't get my form and on top of that wouldn't let me participate even though there were a couple of cancelations. I only wanted to do a skit to Mr. Roboto for just 1 minutes. *Cries* But seeing a movie of me makes it all better. Can't believed I missed the Cosplay.com shoot but I was a busy bee running a lot of photoshoots.

Oh yeah...gotta get the blood flowing. Must stay awake!! It's gonna suck that just as I'm getting home my husband will be getting up for work!! =(

Well...as long as I get my copy, I'll be fine. I can't wait. It's gonna be a busy night!! Hope everyone else gets plenty of sleep. Get some sleep for me, too!

As my first Nekocon and smaller convention, I loved it! I'm used to all the crowds at Otakon and this was much better. I'll deffently be back next year. Even with the 7 hour drive. DC traffic on Friday night was torture - I got there 3 hours late! eh, sorry.

It was nice meeting all the nice people who wanted my picture/hugs/whatever, I didn't know I'd be that popular ^.^; Anyway, I was very happy, even if the walking was a bit tiring. Plus seeing the Dark Vash saturday and talking to Fory-san didn't hurt ^.-

I had a great time at Nekocon once again ^_^ I got to see all my friends again and got to meet some new ones from cosplay.com. I have no complaints even though getting used to the new location was definetly strange.

Since this seems to be a kind of shoutout thread as well..here are mine ^^

To digikoomi, Yzak, and Kira from the Gundam Seed photoshoot: I had a lot of fun and it was nice meeting all of you! I hope we get to do that again some time.

To the Jiraiya and Tsunade that sat with a quiet Itachi cosplayer on Friday night: That was me ^^ That was one of the highlights of my day. You guys were awesome and what a strange trio we did make. Thanks for keeping me company!

To everyone in the Naruto, Shonen Jump photoshoots: Thanks for some great photos! Especially the ninjas vs. pirates for the Saturday SJ shoot. THe One piece group was actually my group of friends and it was good to outnumber them at least once that day ^^

To everyone from cosplay.com who said "Hello Tohma!" as I was passing by, or who stopped and talked with me. Its was nice meeting all of you and in some cases, seeing you all again! ^^

To the three girls that glomped me almost to the ground when I was dressed as Itachi on Friday: Thanks for one of the most surprising but best glomps ever. I'm still amused by it.

To Eurobeat King, thanks for all the great pictures you took of my costumes and my friends costumes!

I'm sure there were a few more shoutouts I wanted to do but I can't think of them at hte moment. Lastly, I'll be getting my pictures put up soon hopefully..just having some upload problems at the moment x_x

Hey, there you are!!! lol Eww, DC traffic is always horrible. My mom and her sisters came back from PA one time and they were stuck in the traffic at DC. They said it was so slow, that they could have stopped the car on the side of the road for several minutes and get back in without anyone moving an inch. But it's good to know you made it there safely! Where did you drive down from? It certainly was good chatting with you and I hope we get to see each other again at another con. This con was special to me, as it was my first foray from attendee to staff. I really hope I didn't come off as rude to anyone.... ~_~ I sure didn't try to. I don't think I had to raise my voice once at a line, and that made me happy. ^_^ And to that short little one in front of the video game room on Saturday morning, hehe, you guys were fun. Thanks for not killing me when the room didn't open on time. ^_~

I blew a little too much in the dealers room...but hey, what's the fun if you can't splurge every now and again.

And I think my shout out to an energy drink would have to go to Bawls. Mmmm...Caffeine. I had a 7 hour drive to and from as well....that last two hours on the turnpike were killer.

Wheee! This was my second time at nekocon and I had a great time!! I loved every bit of it!! I have to admit the staff was a little disorganized but I didn't really have a problem with them, except for once, we where waiting in line to get into the dance/rave on sat. and I was sitting on the floor because it was taking a long time and i was wearing boots and they were kinda hurting my foot and a staff member said i couldn't sit in line D: I guess he's just doing his job but we were out there forever @_@

Well hopefully next year will be better staff and programing wise :3 but honestly I had an awesome time X3
