Can anyone share some new gungrave pics?

12-22-2002, 04:07 PM
I have a couple of reference pictures on my web site:

I'll probably have more up when I get the time and when I finish the game and start working on my costume...

Um... yah... that was really lame grammer wasn't it?

12-27-2002, 01:21 PM
I've been to your site already, but I wasn't able to find the pics I'm looking for. But nice site, btw. ^___^

So, how's the costume going?

12-27-2002, 04:19 PM
I saw the site, nice work. I might have to take up the same approach with the cowboy hat, though I've already spent almost $200 just on the apparel alone ... making it the most expensive costume I've attempted. I haven't even begun the fraggin' coffin yet... I swear, cosplay isn't for the weak of wallet.

officer_fujita: Thanks. :) Um... it's currently, not going anywhere. It's not my active project yet. Though I did find a perfect pattern for the jacket. I'm also still not quite sure how I'm going to do the coffin yet. :(

MakioTwist: Thanks! :> Hehe, yah tell me about it. I'm going to essentially be sewing the jacket and stuff if I ever get around to it. Are you doing found items or sewing as well?

heki-chan: Oooh thanks so much! That first picture is great. :D Gungrave is basically a video game for the PS2. It's from the creator of Trigun, so there is some overlap. Basically Grave is a ressurrected assassin who's taking revenge for the people who originally killed him.

Lovely holiday sentiment isn't it? ;)

I found this online yesterday (forgot URL. Damn)

It makes Grave look lanky.

I'm about to start making the coffin at the end of this month or early February so we can hopefully finish everything by mid-March. Hopefully, work on the coat starts next week. We'll have to use a custom-made hat so it matches with the coat (hue)

DO you have larger versions of these pics (or know where I can get them)?

Thanks for the pics! =D

Good luck! I'm gonna start working on the guns soon.

Thanks for the photo of the front of the gun, that's something I've been looking for.

Oh as for the back and the coffin, try grabbing screen shots from the intro movie, there's some good details on it:

Download the larger one, it has more footage.

No problem^_^ it was just a nice coincidence that those were on my HD^_^

Certain parts will definitely have to be bought (i.e., pants), but I'm sewing most of it. I know the coffin won't be done in time for Megacon, but hopefully by late Spring it will be. I have to wonder if the security at any of the conventions will confiscate it...

01-03-2003, 03:23 AM
heki-chan: Hehe, thanks for the picture! It's great :D

As for the weapons policies, I think they won't mind the coffin, but the prop guns they might not like... will have to see depending on the convention. Thankfully mine won't be all that heavy so I can bring them and leave them in the hotel room if nessessary.

01-03-2003, 09:44 AM
We don't have much of a problem here when it comes to props- so I'm more worried about having to lug around a large, bulky coffin during the con.

Thanks for the tip! I downloaded the smaller clip before, thinking that both the it and the 11MB one are the same with the other just at higher resolutions. I'm downloading it right now. =]

Here are some more pics of Grave's guns- it might help if you don't have them yet

LoL, thanks Ziggy! That's a lot better than attempted pictures or HDTV stills to work from...At least now I don't have to fire up the PS2 everytime or print out horribly small artwork I snagged from the site. As for Ceruberus, I've decided I'll leave'em holstered or placed away in the coffin to keep from having them confiscated. BTW... this is the 'tenative' list of things I'm buying versus sewing:

I'm Buying... the hat (but will alter it), shoes, white dress shirt, bandoliers, chains(duh!), gloves, pants, and the majority of the coat unless I opt to make it from pleather.
I'm sewing or making... The holsters (working on it right now!), kneepad, coffin, guns, any detailed items/designs.

I'm buying most of the items I don't have from thrift stores (I'm on the college budget again!), eBay or from the local Hardware store. Even though I've spent about $200 thus far, I'm not going over $400...this final cost includes the coffin.

edit: Happy Birthday Fujita! You're two months older than me. :D

01-03-2003, 08:29 PM
officer_fujita: Thanks for the picture! There's a smaller version in the manual, but this will help a lot! As for the video, yah, the larger one as a couple more seconds of CG video which was useful then the smaller video.

MakioTwist: Well I will make it look fake looking somehow. We'll see.. As for the holster... at least in the game, Grave stores the guns in the coffin and there's this cool animation when he takes it out. Hehe, but yah, I'm probably gonna also have actually usable holsters. :)

Um... I already have the boots, just some rubber rain boots that I use for my Zack costume. The pants are easy enough, just black pants. I found the pattern for the jacket and going to attempt to make sew it.

Not too sure about the coffin yet, I'm guessing I'm gonna make it out of foam core so that it's light.

01-03-2003, 09:10 PM
Yep- definitely buy the shirt and the pants, since they look just like ordinary white shirts and slacks. The one which needs to be sewed is most definitely the coat.

MakioTwist: Heh heh- thanks! =]

I meet this guy again at the Comiket 63 and this time I also remember to take a picture of his back.

And another one.....

01-08-2003, 08:24 PM
Wow! Much thanks for the photos. I have the general 'design' of how I'd like to do the jacket, but the cross on the back was kickin' my rear on how to accomplish it. At least now I've got a idea how I can pull it off. Now if anyone could recommend some decent, leather cutting scissors... :D

01-08-2003, 10:00 PM

Holy Crap!!! That's AWESOMEz0rs!!! Thank you so much, Briareos!!!

03-09-2003, 01:08 AM
I havent found the perfect hat yet... anyone know where I could get one?

03-09-2003, 01:16 AM
Um... I'm just using a black "cowboy" hat that I found at orchard supply hardware. It's not cut with the V in the back, but I think it'll work out fine.

I got a size larger since I'm probably gonna wear darkblue wig under the hat.

03-09-2003, 09:26 PM
I hate to say it, but I'm considering making my hat from scratch... anyone else with me on this one...? Hints, comments...anything?

03-09-2003, 09:47 PM
Hehe, good luck. :)

They do have hat patterns you can buy, you'll probably have to modify the back to have that V shape.

03-09-2003, 11:36 PM
hat patterns, eh?? ya mean I could find one at JoAnn's? I've just noticed that all the Gungrave cosplayers I've seen look like they made their hats... or is that just me?

03-10-2003, 12:01 AM
They do have hat patterns at Joanns that's true, but I don't know how they did their hats. For all I know, they sell them in Japanese cosplay stores. :)

03-10-2003, 08:50 PM
Heya ZiggyB... I figgured since I'm so anal about my cosplay I'm going to draw out my own pattern for the hat. But as for the guns I have a few ideas as to how I'm gonna approach it but nothing definate yet...

Any words of encouragement would do :D

03-10-2003, 08:57 PM
Trying to remember if ther link to the other gungrave thread is here or not.. if it's not... then here it is.. http://forums.cosplay.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1331&highlight=gungrave

03-11-2003, 12:28 AM
For the guns I'm probably gonna carve them out of wood and use a dremel to put in the detail and then paint it. I think the gun will be the easiest part of my costume. :)

03-11-2003, 12:58 AM
I found this issue of Hyper Hobby at Tower Records the other day...and noticed something :) http://www.geocities.com/c_canizales/ggravefig1.jpg

03-23-2003, 08:06 PM
How are you (anyone...anyone) crafting the guns??

03-25-2003, 10:32 PM
I found THE PERFECT BOOTS. (of course I'm going to have to modify them a bit, but not by much) Anyone that's doing a Grave costume still alive?

03-26-2003, 12:06 AM
Still around. Just that my Grave costume has been pushed to later into the year... maybe even next year. <sigh>

Too many costumes, too little time. :)

03-26-2003, 09:32 AM
still alive! I just got the glasses earlier this afternoon for a mere 150php (that's less than $3), I'll modify it a bit so it'll look like Grave's. As for the guns, we're modifying pelletgun berettas for that one, adding a combination of plastic and cardboard then painting it with spraypaint.

We have to rush everything now, we have to be set before April 25!

03-26-2003, 09:39 AM
this pic is kinda small, but still good to look at =)

04-11-2003, 09:13 AM
Augh! I missed the auction for the Ceruberus gun kit! :(

04-13-2003, 11:38 AM
