View Full Version : Non-anime music in skis

I'm toying with the idea of using non-anime music, music from a Broadway show (Cats) that I like to go with a skit I am working on -- is this going to be a big no-no. or do people think that this would go over all right? I'm not sure, I've never seen it done before, so I am wondering if there is a reason for that?

its ok, normal songs have been used for skits, and have actually won!! Bg music is Bg music.

Background music from whatever is probably fine. Song parodies, however, are hilarious. ^_^ This group at ACEN sang a parody of "Men in Tights" called "Card Captors in Tights." Just be careful; some cons may consider this closer to karaoke than masquerade.

Some judges also don't like singing skits, as think beongs in karaoke. But if music was for background or to do a very short dance to should be fine.

On the same note, I am doing a skit with my two friends dressed up as the girls from FFX-2 and lip synching and dancing to "you dont own me" with a little message at the begining about how tired we are that every final fantasy game stars men.....do you guys think that would fly? I mean, I thought it would work before, but now Im worried.....:O

but do you have to use the song "you dont own me"? maybe "I will survive" or that cher song "life after love", just thinking about you dont own me has the image of yuna pointing her finger at the audience swaying her hips and... i dunno, the high pitched voice in that song... nevermind atashi baka desu

I dont know....our idea was kinda like....we dont have to stand behind and cover all the dumb butt men the whole game, plus we got the version done on the movie "First Wives Club" so theres three women singing it so we all get a part (yeah for me because otherwise Yuna would just be singing, and the girl thats dressing up as her I dont think would enjoy that, being that its her first convention!) But those other two are great ideas!
