Any ideas on how to do these wings? I don't really want to buy&cut a full-size one,so what would you advise doing?
Also, need help on making/getting a halo&holding it in place in the most inconspicous manner possible (i.e I want to try for no wire going from wings to halo to hold it up!)

I know party city makes very cute white angel wings that are about the size of a Haibane's wings. If you could get ahold of a airbrush you could airbrush shades of brown and grey onto the feathers to get the colour that you need. You could also replace the white elastic straps with clear elastic or something in the color of your costume, or make slits in the back like the character does big enough that you can fit the wings through. I've been wanting to make a shirt like that. :)

hope that helps.

As for the halo you might try a v-shaped wire attached to a headband with a foam halo attached... pm me if you don't understand. :)

I think I know what your talking about Schu about the wings from party city but I wouldn't cut those. I'd say that kind of job could be done with a wire/foam frame and goose feathers that way they will be light enough to actually attach to the shirt (so you won't have to wear it like a backpack). the halo is going to have a wire somewhere lol (yeah gravity sux...) anyway I would make the base with a clear headband (found in most kid sections in craft stores) and add two thin wires on each side to hold up the halo...
(very rough sketch)

rainbowfeatherco.com has a large selection on feathers for low prices, and they color match.

Yeah, but no help on *making* the wings....which i what I need.

1) cut out the basic shape of the wing out of the foam 2) add the wire along the edges to support it 3) cover it with the feathers using a glue gun

And three years later I'm using this thread/these links as references/sources for my friend. It's good to collect links in threads.
