I just got the Hyatt from www.hotwire.com for $130 a night plus tax ($38.95 for my 2 nights).

Selecting Baltimore Inner Harbor for check in Friday and check out Sunday netted 2 hits.

One is a 4 star hotel with tennis court and other amenities for $130 a night, and the other one is a 2.5 star hotel with no amenities listed for $132.

The $130 one is the Hyatt. This is better deal than the similarly priced hotels listed on the Otakon website, as the Hyatt is rated higher and is connected to the convention center.

Are you sure this is the Hyatt Inner Harbor? Cause that place was like 300.00 a night O_o;;;

I'd be all about this but I can't frikkin see what hotel it is until I buy :(

I'd love to get the Hyatt but can anyone else confirm this?

EDIT: And do they charge your card for the full amount right away? or do they just check to see you have that amount on the card and then charge you for real when you get to the hotel.

I should also point out that the Days Inn Inner Harbor is currently offering the Otakon rate if you call, which is $125/night.

As far as I know, hotels generally take your credit card number only to hold the room and to make sure you're over 18 and not kidding them; sort of like a "reservation" that you're actually going to show up.. when you get to the hotel, then they actually charge the money. :)

Edit: The price you receive might change as we move closer to the date of the con, but I think it's safe to say that if it's a 4 star hotel with tennis courts then it's the Hyatt. I researched a bit trying to figure out what hotel that was before making my purchase and the Hyatt was the only hotel in that area with those 2 qualities.

So using Hotwire, is there a way to request double beds vs king bed, or non-smoking? Didn't see anything about that. Is it just potluck with the hotel, or would you be able to contact hotel with hotel confirmation number to see what they have you down for? Hmm

heh... I just set up mine the other day....

Hotwire by default requests a double occupancy, nonsmoking room... That's means, for *2* people. I waited a day and called the hotel to confirm, and they were able to change it to double beds and nonsmoking without a problem.

Oh, FYI, I got mine at $140/night, so if you want in on the hotwire deal, you need to do it soon. I imagine the rates will steadily go up as we get closer..

And the 4 star hotel listed did wind up to be the Hyatt. That's the bad thing about hotwire.. they don't tell you the hotel name until you've purchased the room.

Even though couldn't tell what room type it requested - I went ahead and got the Hyatt last night, it was $144 now.

I gotta say thanks!!! I didn't want a hotel that was like 3 blocks away and I heard Baltimore can be little risky.. I don't want to get mugged or robbed.. god knows I'm all ready broke. hehehe.. But I did this hotwire and got the Hyatt which is basically across the street. Aaaaaaand got a good deal too.. $133 a night. Aaaaaannd there is a parking garage next door. So maybe parking won't be too bad.

oh this will be my first Otakon!

._. same here, yay. I gotta call and get it switched to two beds and make sure it's nonsmoking, hehee ^^;; *hops on the phone*

^^; yare yare... I just wish they didnt' charge you the full amount up front ._.

:3 The Hyatt is riiiiiight next door to the convention center, it connects via skybridge, so you don't even have to brave the bums or the honkin of the horns and hoots of cars passing by ._.;;;

Yea I called today to make sure the Hyatt has my reservation.. I also requested a room with two doubles and non-smoking..

yea.. the only problem is they take the money up front. So you gotta have the cash in your account..

*wonders how she going to make a car payment now*

But sweet.. I didn't know it was connected via skybridge.. :D

I made reservations at the Days Inn back in October, they identified it as the Otakon weekend right away. The Otakon staff is harping at us to not reserve rooms, but I'd rather not be screwed like I was the last two years, and find out the Days Inn was full merely hours after it was posted to the site. I'd rather be safe and have it booked way ahead of time.

I can't wait. >:D Ota-rockman 2004! *works on her roll-chan costume*

Oh wow, I guess I better start looking into hotels then. If the Hyatt is right next door and it's that cheap I'm gonna try to aim for that but if not.......on to the next closest one! (man, airfare better not go up before registration begins!)

I have also been thinking about rooms - since I cann't 100% guarantee I will be able to go this time cann't do hotwire as no refund there. So thinking about getting room at Days Inn though Otakon says don't yet - just to insure a spot which I might later have to cancel. Plus my anime club is thinking about coming this year too, so told them we need to make plans early if all want to stay in same hotel.

I've been waiting for the Days Inn to announce their Otakon rate, but if they're already taking reservations.. oi. I'll have to call them tomorrow and see. Even if Otakon doesn't work out a deal this year with Days Inn, it's close enough to the actual con for me to want to pay the extra cash for less hassle. I've got three rooms worth of people to manage.

Shit! Well that clinches it, doing the Hyatt this year o_o I was planning the Hyatt or Sheraton... heh... Less I can get something cheaper for Sheraton...

Wow .. this old post got bumped. The deal is still valid though. I reserved the Hyatt again for 04 about a month ago.

Yeah, even the hotwire deal is $224 now though...I already booked at days inn, but I'm kinda miffed that Otakon is being so slow about all this...I mean, if hotels will take reservations 9-10 months ahead, they should have contacted them about discounts and had it online by now...according to a few people Days Inn is now sold out...kind of hard to believe since they never had any rooms available online even 3 months ago, but I suppose its true, I went through AAA so I wouldn't know. Think about it though people, already one of the closest ones are sold out and hyatt is filling up fast. Last year I made my reservation only 2 months before and I got in the Radisson for $120...at this rate all hotels will be sold out in few months...the prospects are not good.

EDIT: It's $264 now at hotwire....ouch!
