View Full Version : Help with pleats and washing cotton.

Ok, 2 different questions in one thread, I hope that's okay ^^;;

I need to know how to make them for a Sailormars costume that I'm doing, but I only know that I'm supposed to iron them, but I'm not sure how I should fold them. I'm using these instructions (http://gothfashion.info/x.php?stuff=circlepixie) and pleating it. Also, I'm just gonna fold it under the pleat in front so it will look more like the original. Is that wise? And any pointers on getting that v-shape?

Second question! How much does cotton shrink when you wash it? I'm gonna be using it for a friend's Xellos costume and need to know how much to buy.

Lilibat is great! In the gothic fashion image gallery I am the one in the picture titled "corner (http://www.gothfashion.info/gallery/AnL1/aah) "

Her circle skirt pattern is great. Pleats can be a pain, but are helped along muchly by creasing then ironing with a steam iron before sewing. To get the V-shap, I'd suggest having a v shaped guide on the bodice/leotard and pin and sew on the V. The skirt should hang a lot like it does in the SM pictures if you do that.
