i was hoping to do a chii cosplay for a november convention...but im not very good at sewing. *sweatdrops appear as the visions of 9th grade "clothing" come to mind* And of course the costumes online are so damn expensive. I wonder if there are any "basic" (if you can call it that) outfits to try. I love chobits but i lack any manga of it. *borrows it from people at school* mmm anyone got pics? that would be helpful. I'm collecting cosplay pics and manga/anime pics of her outfits links are welcome!!

OOOOOooooo!!!!! I'm going as Dark Chii for my covention! Do you have a wig, chii ears, spools....if not, go to the classifieds and then 'commissions' then go to wigs. There is an awesome girl there taking comissions for wigs. She's doing mine. Okay no about that dress...she wore many different styles, so any thing will do. I'm using stuff from GoodWill, and my sister, who is going as light chii, got her dress from Encore. ($15) Pinks, whites, corsets....they aren't too expensive if you know where to look. Good luck!!!

Most Chii outfits are very ruffly and frilly and can be very difficult to sew. If you're not very good at sewing, try making a school uniform or gym uniform or something like those. They're fairly simple.

Dark chi???????? Her name is *freya* sorry to nag....but i dont know why people call her "Dark Chi" .....*sigh* Theirs nothing "dark" about her, ( only that she wears Dark cloths, and she is not chi. She only looks like chi....( only because elda and freya are indeed "twin sisters". Im sorry to nag....im just a complete chobits freak, and cant contol myslef.

Sorry to double post:
If you want to do a "simple" chi outfit, than go for, yes a sailor japanese school uniform ( that she wears in the manga and anime) or P.e cloths that she wears . or.....theirs a simple chi christmas outfit, thats easy to make. I do agree with sailorknight, most of chi's outfits are difficult to make, and if you are new at sewing, please dont attemp to make one of her hard dresses, cause then you'll be ending up buying a whole lotta fabric ( which you need cause frills take up alot of fabric) and spending your money, on something you cannot accomplish (unless you have your gardian help you...or having someone else make it for you) Try something simple, and it'll turn out great.
Have fun with your cosplay!
O, and if you need any help with anything, please feel free to PM me!

All I have to say for the love of god dont but some formal dress or a skirt and slap chi ears on. The cosplay community has its fair share of bad chi cosplayers. Chi is one of the most beautifully designed characters. To wear your old prom dress and ears wouldn't be right. I know I'm not the only one with this pet peeve. Chi is one of the most poorly done cosplays.

I think it's okay for people to call Freya "Dark Chii" because that's just what EVERYONE called her before her name was revealed. And some habits are hard to break =)

I have a Chii costume that I made a few years ago but sadly I lack the wig so I've never taken pictures of it -_-

Since you're newer at sewing, I say go with the other's suggestions and make her school uniform. Pleated skirts are easy to make without a pattern but if not you can find one at a school uniform store (if you have catholic schools in your area then you should have one of these stores) or even a store that deals with tennis or cheerleading uniforms. For the top you just need to get a white shirt from wal-mart and add stuff to it.

I kinda dissagree with you. Their are alot of good chi cosplays, she is not one of the poorly done cosplays. Their are alot of people who poorly cosplays characters, but who cares, cosplay is just to have fun. Not to make something of yourself. If she wants to cosplay chi, i dont know why you are putting that character down. Were just giving her advice, were not telling her what to do, but it seems like your the only one hear telling her what to do...which she will not probably fallow. I think if her prom dress resembled one of chi's outfit, than it would be okay. If she wants to cosplay chi than she should go for it!

Ryoko demon: Have fun with your chi cosplay! go on google.com , click pictures, type in "chobits" and you'll atleast get hundredes of pictures of chi and her beautuful outfits ^.^

Everyone: Sorry to nag...

Try www.animegalleries.net They have a huge gallery of Chobits stuff there. Just make sure you don't use .com since I think thats a porn site.

I wasn't putting Chi cosplay. I am just saying there are a lot ppl who don't put effort into cosplaying her. It's true. You read a lot of cosplays where they even admit,"oh!I didn't have a costume so I made Chi ears."

yes, i know. But most people who dont put the effort into it, are usually new and can't really sew. Put you see alot of people at cons dressed up as nothing, and have chi ears on. just because they like the manga, and like the ears and want to buy it.

I have a friend who attempted to cosplay Freya... She didn't make anything. She didn't even make the ears. I did, for my Chii, and she won because she has blond hair.
