View Full Version : Speaking of Yuna...

There has been a lot of Yuna talk going on lately, so I figured I'd post this. I've recently come into some beautiful yellow raw silk, something that would be perfect for Yuna's obi from her original FFX outfit (yes, I know the other one is currently more en vogue, but I think the first is still quite pretty). I've actually been wanting to make one for a while ^^ I was wondering if there was anyone out there who was in the market for a Yuna obi - for a new costume, to replace an old one, whatever.

I'm an obsessive perfectionist in my cosplay ventures, both for myself and commissions, so I can assure you it will look good ^^ I'll make the Crest of Yevon and two dangly beaded cords as well.

I thought I'd ask around here first, so I could make something that would exactly fit the buyer - if noone here is interested, I plan on making one that will be adjustable and sell it on Ebay.

If anyone is interested, feel free to check my cosplay site, pretty with a pistol (http://www.moonlotus.net/cosplay/cosplay.html) - I have up examples of all of my costume work, as well as my commissions, which include a Yuna skirt and Crest of Yevon as well. Thanks!

Gorgeous layout and costumes! In fact you costumes are so dead-on I've been making a Zidane costume for my brother by looking at pics of your costume^_^

As for the obi, I bet it'll be perfect for whoever you make it for.^^ Good luck^^

Hmmmm, well, I'd certainly consider it - might get me to finally use all the fabric I bought for the rest of the outfit.

Wink - Hah, really? That's very flattering! I can't wait to see how it turns out ^_^

Koumori - Excelllent *smiles* If you decide that you would like to commission it from me, I need to know pretty soon, I'm afraid. I'm itching to make it ^^ (and I need the money, besides). Do get in touch if you're interested (india@moonlotus.net) and thanks!

Dia, you Suu freaking BLEW MY WORLD AWAY, btw. I saw the AWA pictures and various sites and I was just floored. XD I'd *love* to see pictures of the final obi!! A good obi REALLY makes or breaks a Yuna costume, imo, that and the top, as simple as it seems.

Nessa- wow, thanks! *blushes* I agree on what you said about the Yuna costume, though. Too many people completely screw up the fit of the top, and it ends up looking frumpy. The same applies to a saggy obi, bleaugh.

OoOoOo, so it's not just me who sees the awkward top and saggy obi... no body likes a sagger.

Just a notice to say someone has contacted me privately for the commission, so I'm kind of taken, so to speak ^^ However, if I decide to make another anytime soon, I'll definitely post a notice.

What would you suggest one do to keep the obi in shape?

I plan on using some stiff but flexible interfacing, and also a layer of thicker fabric for the lining. I'll probably put in some light vertical boning as well.

And thanks, everyone, for the compliments on Suu ^^ I adore that costume so much, even though it's cumbersome and tends to occasionally poke people in the eyes ^^;;

I used piece of flexiable craft plastic. It held the shape well and is only slightly uncomfortable.

Someone told me that they used cardboard, but I am not too sure how well that will work.

Suu- If you get the chance can you send me a template on how you created the obi tie. Mine is...well not as great as it could be. I love the shape you managed to get.

Minna- What has everyone found to be the simplest of Yuna's weapons to create? I have thought of a couple but I really want something that is easy in construction that I can do lots of detail work in.

Also what has everyone found to be the best way to do the earring? Use an actual earring, or a hair ornament?

Shape I managed to get? I, um, haven't made it yet.. ^^;; I believe I'm a bit confused...

^^;

The Obi Tie that you did for a commisson. I saw it on your website. With the skirt. Sorry if I wasn't too clear.

Hah, I just can't read, apparently. Nyer. Here's the image I used for reference, which also provides a lovely view of the vines encircling the obi itself. You could probably just enlarge that picture of the crest and use that, but if you'd rather have me draw one, just say so, and I'd be happy to ^_^
