01-14-2003, 06:00 AM
Ani-Jam sounds fun! Maybe ...i'll check it out! ^_~

01-14-2003, 06:02 AM
great i cant figure out how to make my signature work *sniff*

01-15-2003, 08:24 PM
Central Valley CA is... where? Anywhere near the SF Bay area? @,@;;;

01-16-2003, 10:30 AM
I think I'll go. o.o; Mwee!

Miaka No Baka
01-17-2003, 12:44 PM
central valley = east of the bay area. It takes us like 1.5 to 2 hours to get to SF from modesto, and modesto is like 1.5 to 2.5 hours north of fresno in the valley. Quite a drive ^_^; I don't think I'll be going cause we'll be in canada and then at sakura con then.

Miaka no Baka

01-18-2003, 03:19 AM
It's Very very affordable...( if you bay cosplayers don't mind the drive :D ) It would be great you see you guys in action at the masquerade. It's going to be fun.

Aoshi Shinomori
01-18-2003, 09:36 PM
I think it might take 4 hrs from the bay area to fresno.

Ukayoru no Chou
01-18-2003, 09:59 PM
I might be able to attend, must see...must figure out things.. ^_^ *bounce around* ...ok, so non needed post..*skitter*

01-19-2003, 12:27 AM
NP, i appreciate any sort of replies. ;)
You all must come and cosplay so I can take pictures!

01-19-2003, 01:24 AM
If I can figure out the direction and travel time, I'll see. Depends on how long the drive'll be for me. Will it be worth it for the day? That's the major thing. *nods*

01-20-2003, 03:15 AM
i know directions if you tell me which city you are coming from ^_^ gee i havent been to any conventions in a while it seems!.. convention drought @_@

01-23-2003, 09:50 PM
Yeah. I live 20 minutes north of Fresno, and it takes me about 3 to 3 and a half hours to get to San Fransisco, so it's not incredibly terrible! ^_^ Whee~ I can't wait to goooo.......

01-27-2003, 01:36 AM
Hmm. Looks like they added a cosplayer panel and a new game. DOA volleyball? 0_o; :tries to stop the images:
Anyway, I'm glad more cosplayers are coming down! You've made my day. Like bangz, I'm dying for a con.

Aoshi Shinomori
01-28-2003, 03:06 AM

02-06-2003, 02:03 AM

- Lionel

02-06-2003, 03:39 PM
Aoshi: why you's going to Canada?

02-07-2003, 05:53 AM
The more I think about this, the more I'm thinking about going.... Frankly, I haven't been back to Fresno since 1995, when my sis graduated from Fresno State. (Haven't had much reason to come back, maybe save for Yoshino on Blackstone, and Blackbeard's, if it's still in existence, and if I'm courageous enough to brave going there again.)

But, seriously, this last month at work has been busier than hell for me, and it still is... I'd rather kick off my fun con season at end of March than wait another week to kick it off with Sakura-Con. If I don't take the entire day off, I'd take half the day off.

Still debating...

02-08-2003, 09:12 PM
Yep, Blackbeards is still in business--still busy too! :) C'mon over.

02-09-2003, 01:29 AM
*sigh* I don't think I'll be able to go to this - no ride :( Ah well, maybe when I can drive..

02-12-2003, 01:57 AM
i used to go to blackbeards every weekend ^_^ just to play video games and air hockey. that was fun.! there still is that yoshinos on blackstone, i was there 2 weekends ago.

lionboogie: (or anyone coming from afar) if you can, please try to come early!

02-12-2003, 06:10 AM
I will trrryyy~~ but YES. I will be there. ^_^

- Lionel

02-14-2003, 06:28 PM
Hmm....debating on finishing Popstar Yuna in time for this...

Aoshi Shinomori
02-16-2003, 03:59 AM

02-16-2003, 11:39 PM

02-17-2003, 12:02 AM

02-17-2003, 12:07 AM

college student = needs free stuff to survive = me :)

02-18-2003, 10:52 PM
Yaaayyy! me and Roth are gonna look totally awesome at Ani-jam! I know for sure now that I'll have my quistis costum ready by then, today my mom and I found the perfect color fabric! I thought it would take forever to find just the right one. Roth's costume will be ready too, but his hair won't be bleached. he's gonna wait til' AX to do that. But he'll still be cool as a raven-haired Zell.
Dude i'm so excited!

02-19-2003, 12:57 PM
my friends name is steve, he's half filipino and white. maybe you know him?

wow i'm glad to see that there are local people within fresno that are into cosplay! cant wait to see everyone at the event ^_^

Aoshi Shinomori
02-19-2003, 11:34 PM
hmm.. well my friend is steven.. so it might be him heh.. he wanted me to go to anijam but im going to sakuracon and stuff.. i would go if i was still in the valley during that time

02-20-2003, 02:08 PM
ah ha! i knew it! what a small world. steve is one of my buddies that used to live in lemoore, but moved to modesto.

a little update on ani-jam. we added a couple more rooms due to the expectancy of around 300 people attending (previously thought of around 150 - 200). for a first time, small convention there seems to be a lot of support!

02-20-2003, 09:49 PM
ANI-JAM 2003....I CAN'T WAIT!!! One more month!!!

Aoshi Shinomori
02-23-2003, 05:23 PM
yeah steven is one of my buddies too heh we talk about anime and stuff at work

02-25-2003, 03:24 AM
So what is this art contest I hear about?:bouncer:

02-25-2003, 04:08 AM
Sounds like a lot of fun, we'll probably show up.

02-25-2003, 11:39 PM
There will be an anime art contest for those creatively inclined.:D
Cool prizes (Drawing affiliated I think) will be given to the winners of the contest. You can bring your own mangas/art or you can use the provided paper & colored pencils.

Wow, really Aeris? We would be honored. :)

02-26-2003, 10:57 PM
How to Draw Manga/Japanime from Japan will be providing the prizes for the art contest! It's all good!

03-01-2003, 09:04 PM
Wow! Ani-Jam!!! This will be my first con! Can't wait....4 weeks and counting.....

03-05-2003, 12:46 AM
cant believe its coming soon. the first anime gathering in the central california area. i hope to see many great cosplayers!

03-06-2003, 01:27 AM
Who's going as who? So far it sounds like mostly game characters.

03-06-2003, 10:33 PM
Eeei~ I'll be cosplaying Shindou Hikaru from Hikaru No Go and Shindou Shuichi from Gravitation. ^^ (Keke, two Shindous!) And I may bring along my Li Syaoran cosplay just for kicks....

Friends accompanying me who aren't on this board are also cosplaying. My guy friend Jesse will be cosplaying Squall from FFVIII, and my friend Amber will be cosplay Honda Tohru from Fruits Basket and Sagara Sanosuke from Rurouni Kenshin. We're all very excited! ^^

03-07-2003, 01:21 AM
I'm going but I don't know if I can get a costume ready before then.

03-08-2003, 02:04 AM
ooh interesting! fruits basket cosplay ^_~

jubei you must have a costume by then! i'm counting on you! personally i think people have much more fun when they go dressed as a favorite character.

i was lucky in the past most of my costumes were already clothes i had in my closet. maybe you can find things around the house to help you on your costume

03-08-2003, 10:54 PM
Jubei02 has a costume....he's just being stubborn :argue:

03-09-2003, 12:13 AM
I want to go, but I'll be appearing in this talent fest at school.

Yet, anyways, hope everyone has fun!

03-09-2003, 03:51 PM
shonen star it was nice to see you guys at the meeting! what will you guys be dressed up as for the convention?

nadeshiko what will you be doing for your talent festival?? good luck on your performance ^_^

03-09-2003, 09:46 PM
yea it was cool seeing you too. (btw, you LOOK like a BANGZ, lol. your hair is awesome)
I will be quistis, and my boyfriend will be zell. Kim and I are trying to get chris (jubei02) to go as seifer.....but like I said he's being a cry baby about it. Kim is gonna be pop-star yuna!
how bout you?

03-10-2003, 12:14 AM
So what ARE the rules for the art contest? Does the work HAVE TO be directly related to an anime? Or can it be just miscellaneous sci-fi?
Do I have to sign-up? or can I just bring my stuff in a frame and hope no punk walks off with it?

03-10-2003, 01:34 AM
I think that anime is the theme, but it would be fine to bring your own original characters/drawings. You sign up at the con & I believe we will have the entries displayed in a special area. The art submitted has to be matted. :)

03-10-2003, 02:36 AM
oh, i though i heard dennis say that it could be matted or framed at the last meeting.......

03-11-2003, 02:43 PM
i love FF8! its gonna be really cool to have a FF8 group cosplay for ani-jam ^_^ sooo happy!!! i always wanted to make a squall outfit, maybe in future we can do a .. fresno all-star FF8 group cosplay! awesome!!!!! i look like a bangz =^.^= thank u *bows* you look quite familiar, do you know a girl named liberty by any chance?

i believe edward said that for the art show, any type of art is welcomed. i honestly dont know how he's going to run the contest part of it. as for your artwork, i'd probably keep an eye on it! but since edward will be at that section the whole time, its going to be publicly displayed and he'll watch over them.

03-11-2003, 04:01 PM
that would be cool to do the FF8 thing (^_^)
liberty......hmmmmm.....nope I don't think so.......
If I did where would i know her from?

03-13-2003, 03:46 AM
you very much reminded me of her although i only saw her once or twice. it must be the hair and the eyes or something @_@

how is everyones costume going along? shonen_star, i forgot to mention earlier, i'm doing a costume from the anime fruits basket. but i wont tell you which character =^.^=

quick update:
for a small convention we sure are being attracted to by some big names in the media. i hope to see everyone will be looking spiffy in their costume for the pictures in upcoming magazine articles and news coverage!

03-13-2003, 04:45 AM
hello peeps. im goin zell. this is going to be my first time dressing up as any character from anyof the ff games. i usually go as dbz characters ^^ (goku mainly). but im really exited about it. only problem is that i'll be there a bit late cause i have to work. But hopefully i make it in time for the ddr tournament!! what time does the ddr thingy start anyway??

03-13-2003, 06:57 PM
fruits basket, huh.

03-14-2003, 12:50 PM
Ahhh. Pressure! It's coming down to the wire--only a few more weeks left! I'm trying my best to finish this Yuna costume.
Maybe I should've made a FB costume. o_0;

:D We all need to take a group pic at Ani-Jam! I can't wait!

BTW cartoon_hero, hehe, great avatar.

03-15-2003, 02:06 PM
katnap can u let quistis here borrow your fruits basket episodes so she can see how cool their costumes are? ^_^ maybe in the future we can have a group fb cosplay, that would be awesome. my costume is pretty much done woohoo. who would be uo-chan? she's so funny i like that character a lot!

cartoon hero sorry to tell you but there's no DDR tournament. we planned it long ago but due to the lack of interest we had to throw out the competition. but we'll have it out there so you can "show us your moves!"

03-15-2003, 10:39 PM
ahhh, bummer......
oh well, you still a BAD ASS DDR MAN, Roth.

03-16-2003, 07:51 PM
i'm curious to see you and katnaps FF8 cosplay pictures on here ^_^ do you have a link to them?

03-16-2003, 08:15 PM

03-16-2003, 09:05 PM

03-22-2003, 01:50 PM

I just want to say that you guys did a great job! Me and my friends had a lot of fun at Ani-Jam! I saw that you guys surpassed over the 500+ attendee mark. Congratulations!

I was talking to some of the attendees and everyone I talked to said they had a great time.

Definitely coming back for the next event!

03-29-2003, 06:07 PM
Yeah, yeah, yeah....we JAMMED last night!!!! 500+ attendees....whoohoo!!! Ani-JAM!!!

03-29-2003, 06:11 PM
And here you were the one that was saying that no one would ever go to a con in Fresno. Looks like all those that had stated that, just got proved wrong from last night.

03-29-2003, 10:10 PM
Weee! It was fun *^_^*

03-29-2003, 10:48 PM
Yuna-sama: I missed ya. I wanted to meet ya and everrybody else, but I kinda skipped work and I decided not to go. oh well...I guess until AX now..

03-29-2003, 11:53 PM
Awesome to hear that Ani-Jam did so well!
Props to the crew from NT2099!

03-30-2003, 12:35 AM
I would like to thank everyone who attended ANI-JAM and making it a success. I definitely want to thank cosplay.com for coming up to the Central California area and showing their support for our event.

Many of us attend so many cons and see each other at Fanime, AX, ReccaCon and Ani-Magic but in the Central Valley, there are so many people who have never seen a cosplayer or been to a con and their only knowledge was through a website or a magazine.

So, it was a great experience to see many people try to cosplay for the first time, to attend their first event even if it was a six hour mini-event, have fun and of course, to have cosplayers they have seen on websites, special guests, support from fans & guests from out of the local area and of course support from cosplay.com made the night even more special.

- kndy

03-30-2003, 03:09 AM
yes yes.... lots-o-fun

03-30-2003, 12:17 PM
Who's Auron costume were the whoreing out?

03-30-2003, 12:55 PM
Hi Nessa,

The Auron costume (used at Fanime 2k2) that was whored around is mine. Actually, inspired by seeing the cosplay photos of you, Hai and Yaya at Ani-Magic 2001.

03-30-2003, 12:57 PM
Oh wow! O_O; I'm so flattered that our photoshoot inspired you!! ::falls over::

Yay USA Musume!
Not a problem, I'm always glad to help

03-30-2003, 03:21 PM
Thanks to Cosplay Underground and all the people at Ani-Jam2K3 for a wonderful time. Congratulations on a successful convention!

Our photos are now up in the gallery.

03-30-2003, 03:23 PM
I saw the photos, they look great. There's some that I'm looking for for a friend, but so far there hasn't been hardly any of her around. She was dressed like Ash Ketchum from Poke'mon. She was also the one that was running the puzzle League game over in the video game area.

03-30-2003, 06:24 PM
Thanks for putting on Ani-Jam, guys! I had a lot of fun. (I probably should have worn a more "mainstream" anime costume
@_@, though... ) I did have a fun time participating and everyone was really nice. Just... crowded. But that's also a *good* thing if you think about it. :3 Congrats on it's sucess.

03-30-2003, 10:51 PM
lol~ I wonder why my head is always in the same position...maybe my heavy tail braid. o_0;
Ahh. Whenever I see pics of myself I see things I'm going to have to change for the next con. -_-

I had a great time! I can't wait for the next one--I'll be looking forward to it next year. :)

Edit: More pics

and for roth's zell.........
but, yea.
It was a bucket-o-fun. :D

03-31-2003, 08:05 PM
This is James R., the portrait studio photographer at Ani-Jam 2003. I just want to say it was great to see so many cosplayers come to Fresno. There were a lot of great costumes!! It was a bit crowded but we'll definitely look forward to a bigger event next year!!! Thanks for making the first Ani-Jam 2003 a huge success!!

04-02-2003, 02:43 PM
Yay! More pictures:

04-03-2003, 02:29 AM
i'm happy everyone had such a great time!!!!! *falls over*

all the hard work that was put into it was worth every bit of it. i kept running back n forth i wanted to spend more time with fellow cosplay-mates! but i was glad to see so many first time cosplayers and not to mention how well they did!

i would like to thank everyone for supporting ani-jam, we look forward to seeing everyone again in the future. HMM next event, fanime!

that reminds me of when i did tatsuya from persona 2, no one knew who i was! sometimes its not fun when people know your character but its ok! the next costume i'll be doing isnt tooo popular but it'll be a group thing so its gonna be coool

btw you did very well on your costume ^_^

04-03-2003, 03:57 PM
Eeeii! Sankyuu! (This is the second time it's happened to me. Why do I like stuff that's obscure in the United States so much? XD) And good luck on your next costume! I thought you made an awesome Yuki, but it was so crowded/you were so busy I didn't get a chance to tell you. ^_^;

04-04-2003, 05:51 AM
Wish I coulda gone, just like Fresno to have the cool things "after" I leave... bleh =P

Looked like a blast, hopefully I can afford Fanime.
