안녕하세요 Korean Cosplayers! well, this summer i'm going to Korea for 2 weeks, and i want to go to a Korean anime convention, becasue i may want to pursue a career in manwha instead of manga, and because i know there are some! Korean cosplay people on cosplay.com have posted pictures of their conventions, so...yeah; does anyone have information on any upcoming 한국 콘밴션 in 3-4 weeks? i would like to know ASAP, just so i could fit it into my planned schedule for Korea, and thank you! ^_^

고맙슴니다!

hiyas... i've been to korea several times and from what I know, there really arent big conventions in korea like the ones in states.

the only things i have seen so far that are cosplay related was a group/party/picnic/meetings that are held in schools. but whenever there is an event like the video game release or promotions (usually in yong san), ie war of genesis, you would see cosplayers there.

ive also seen cosplayers at the comic event/pormotion for the release of new manhwa and pc game of yul hyul gang ho / 열혈강호. which also happened to be at yong san / 용산.

but then again, there could actually be conventions in korea just that the times i was there were not being held. so i could be wrong.

one thing i know for sure is that in korea and also in japan, cosplay is more like a "phase" junior high school girls get into and usually get out of when they reach later high school because of the grusome academics, pressure to get into a known college, and a simple loss of interest.

but i do think that there arent really conventions in korea nor place in korea where cosplayers gather like they do in japan everyday. but there are places where u can see koreans dressing up in traditional and folk dresses which i cant seem to remember but its a tourist spot.

sorry im no big help... T_T

wheeee! Korea was funn!! after 7 years of not being there, i had lots of fun!!!

haha, the only character i was able to bring was Belldandy, from Oh! My Goddess, cuz the jewelry and makeup take little room, and hair spray is small too, and i wore my normal clothes. i didn't really go to a con place tho, i just went into a huge bookstore and a few game stores. i got recognized!!! <3 haha

Hmm the first time I went to Korea, I remember attending a character convention. And when I say character, I mean that it was a place with so many cute booths set up with different new upcoming characters like Pucca and all that XD Some people were dressed up, but not many. They give out a lot of free stuff though =) My cousin loves cosplay and drawing. Dunno if they have conventions like America, but you can ask around once you get there ^^;

So, looks like no one has been in here for awhile, but I thought I'd poke my head in anyway. I'm going to be moving to Seoul for about a year starting in October and was just curious about Korean conventions and cosplay whatnot. I'm not sure if I'm going to bring any of my cosplays yet, but I'm thinking about it. I figured if I found some people to cosplay, I would definitely pack a few of them. :)

Hmm, I'm not sure about conventions during that time. I've been living in Seoul for that last 6 months and trying to keep my eyes open for any conventions, but so far I haven't heard of any (which is odd since I live within walking distance of COEX, the main convention center in Seoul. You'd think I'd hear about something). I know they have some here, I'm just not sure when or where. I'll let you know if I hear anything. ^_^
