I'm thinking about doing a Ruby Moon, cosplay, not sure for what convention,but since I'm doing Kikyo, I decided my creative juices need a bit more of a challenge for a second costume. Ruby Moon springs to mind because I personally haven't seen very many at the cons that I've gone to.

Though I need a bit of help finding reference pictures to start with ~_~

That and any suggestions for the wings would be nice because I've never done a costume with wings before.

I did Ruby Moon a while ago, and I'll be doing him again.

Here's a nice reference pic, although it isn't in color:

My wings were made of some organza/crepe translucent fabric with black ribbon channels sewn around the edges, and they are separate pieces each held in place with a combination of plastic poles and wire. The rigging is really weird, but it worked. I can try and find a picture that shows somewhat of how mine attach, if you want to use my method.

Eh? No picture showed up in your post. And yes I'd like to see how you rigged your wings if it's possible, it would be a huge help since I"ve never made wings of any kind before.

I really like the idea of a semi/translucent fabric though.

I'm so sorry! I fail at bbcode. ^^;;

Here's a link to what I meant to show:

Here's a pic that shows my wing rigging somewhat.

The wings attached together near where my real waist was, and they had an elastic strap that went underneath the corset-top thing and fastened in the front of my waist with a safety pin. I then pinned my collar to my top and the wing casing to the collar. It worked quite well, but it was a pain to deal with.

c.com user Oselle and I made her Ruby Moon costume years ago (it was our first big project). I lost the link I had to good referene pics, but I'm sure if you search around you'll be able to find something.

For her wings, which I made, they're 4 separate pieces and made in a similar manner as well (no ribbon channel - the organza is double layered, sewn in the shape we wanted the wings, then handsewn around the wire once the wire frame was inserted). These were sewn to a blackfabric square, so that none of the wings overlapped. This allowed us to actually fold the wings for transport - in half and in half again - which was very helpful, as we had a full car, and she had to transport them in airplane luggage as well.

It just attached with elastic around the shoulders, but it wasn't that noticable from the back, either.

I'll see if I can find pics of her costume... (the wig was a last minute borrowed from a friend thing b/c she couldn't find one she liked enough in the time before the convention). If you have any questions, just ask!
