View Full Version : Got a weird idea about complimenting cosplayers. Could use advice

There are so many great costumes at Cons. So far at Connecticon that has been true as well, and if I had a camera that was good enough I'd take pics, but sadly I don't so I had another idea. Rather than just tell cosplayers they have a good costume, I could give em a card which says so as a keepsake. Does that seem good or bad....I can see either side of the coin. So I need Cosplayer opinions!

That sounds like an interesting idea, tmchiba. If someone liked my costume enough to give me one of those, I'd be puzzled at first (what? no camera?! :D ), but ultimately I'd feel kinda honoured. Like, I'd remember you more for the card than if you just took a picture and didn't say anything.

On the other hand, if EVERYONE started doing that, my bags would be filled with cards and I'd get sick of carrying them around. But if that's the only downside to your idea that I can think of, you should go ahead and try it.

Good luck with your idea!

Thanks for the insight. I tried it out yesterday. It basically worked, though people in general seem suspicious of cards. But...I hope it worked. ^^;;;;;

I think you gave me a card, it was surprising, but nice. Thanks!

Yup I did. It was a good costume. Yeah everyone was surprised. That's the only downside, I was scaring people unintentionally. "No no it's a compliment!!!" lol Oh well, people seemed to be glad to get em.
