View Full Version : Oh My Gosh!
So my roomate left a copy of the Febuary Issue of Spin lying around and low and behold, they have a whole article on COSPLAY! No joke, and they even had pictures and I think I recognized some people. So if you went to the anime fest in New York, go check it out. Heck you should check it out anyway although 1/4th of the article talks about hentai....yeah that was great. Yet another retarded american insitution that fails to see that any other country has anything good to offer other than the sick and twisted....eek dont get me started.
So anyway just thought you guys would like to know!

It was kewl. Then I chatted with Pocky Darcy and discovered the truth.

*plans letter to editors of spin*

Well the line about trekkies is true. We are lower on the food chain.
Well I think thats a fact that is made true just by how people look at us.....we know we arnt because we work alot harder and have to be a great deal more creative....Its unfortunate but hey I dont know about you, but I didnt get into cosplay to impress some fansy magazine which then proceeded to inform me what the best bands were (which I didnt agree with either). Oh well...silly american media...

I remember that!
I bought that SPIN back when i was hardcore No Doubt fan, and i saw that article and was like ACK! Cuz i didn't know there were NYC cons, and i remember i found out about it the monday after on NY1 and got all upset cuz i had NOTHING to do that weekend. And i was all enamored with the whole cosplaying scene and had already joined COSP, and dreamed of when i could be one of those people too. I thought y'all were too damn cool for school. Ha! I never realized that i knew the Ranma now!
scans for all!

Well, according to this link, most anime fans are actually on a higher level in the hierarchy than Trekkies ::grin::

I remember this whole discussion of cosp mailing list. Ahh I think i remember somebody said this. "Its a magazaine for rich preppy like people who want or pretend to want to be on the newest trend of pop culture."
Its not written by cosplayer so indeed it won't represent us cosplayers. If every cosplayer just does a costume in a pool of say 50 or so costumes, wouldn't our stuff be cosidered big as well instead cosplay can represent almost anything depending on creativity and limitless bounds of potential thats coming out of japan.

DV, I believe Derek said that and he's right too.
Trust me rheanna, we aren't.

Indeed. Like my friend Brian said, "We are lower on the food chain than trekkies."
