View Full Version : Games SO bad, they're good!

01-24-2003, 01:05 AM
OK, so I thought of this while talking to Rey-Rey (madness). Has anyone else out there played a game that is sooooo awful, that it's actually a lot of fun? I don't mean awful in the MKA way, where there just aren't any redeeming features... something that just fails as a serious game, but can still be enjoyed.

I would nominate Giga Wing for the Dreamcast. It's the worst shooter ever. The graphics are on par with the SNES, the music bites, and there are so many bullets on the screen at once that you can't see anything *but* bullets. The game pretends to have this deep and engrossing story which just comes off as hilarious (for example, there is a scene where one guy is sad... because he can't figure out how to work his AIR CONDITIONER). The final boss of the game is not a huge death machine. It is a square. A two-dimensional square. Which fills the whole screen with bullets. The highlight of this game is definitely the scores. Even if you suck, you can easily get a score of twenty billion points. I kid you not. The numbers are gigantic and frightening.

...and I'm SO cosplaying from that game... hehe. We have a whole group planned, probably for Tekkoshocon. ^_^;

How can you miss this one, Celine?

Michael Jackson's Moonwalker

Come on, we get to lead him on his child-rescuing escapades. And he DANCES his way throughout the whole game. It sounds ridiculous! It sounds like a really bad game.

But this bad concept is thrown away when you find out how well the game is really played. O_o It had silky-smooth control and had no problems doing the moonwalk. =O

Anyone play unison on ps2? hehe

01-24-2003, 10:07 AM
LOL @ Moonwalker... ;_;

I must nominate FF: Mystic Quest because it was amazingly easy and the plot was just downright silly but I had so much fun playing it.. ^____^;;;

01-24-2003, 10:35 AM
Aw, poor MQ!!! ^^ I actually liked that game, and thought it was great. The plot was silly? You mean, you don't know any old dudes who can turn into crystals? XD

Hehe, Moonwalker sounds great. Maybe I should try it. Anything with Michael Jackson is automatically funny.

Celine, to say Giga Wing is bad is so wrong... ^^; It ain't no Gradius. :D

And FF:MQ is known in Japan as FF: USA.

Blasto its got good gamplay and Phil Hartman (who voices Blasto) is funny but there is just too many "Uranus" jokes, and the story is horrible.

01-24-2003, 07:59 PM
Night Trap :O

01-24-2003, 08:25 PM
XD XD XD Night Trap!!! HAHAHA

Long live the Sega CD! I wonder how many people actually played that game, after all the commotion it stirred up. Nowadays, we have BMX XXX and GTA stirring up trouble... back then, we had NIGHT TRAP. XD

zombies ate my neighbors

yeah you remember that crap, i know you do

01-25-2003, 02:34 AM
Anyone ever heard of "Deception"? It's where you set up traps and try to resurrect satan. Reeeally interesting, but very fun.

01-25-2003, 03:16 AM
Dude, Deception is a weird, strange, and messed-up game. I gave it credit for being interesting in that you got to be the bad guy, expanding your evil mansion and setting up death traps to kill all the good guys. Everyone's secret evil dream, I'm sure. However, that game had a pretty harsh learning curve (er, at least, if you don't have the instruction book). Did you ever try the second or third in the series?

01-25-2003, 03:26 AM
LOL. The concept is crap on Zombies Ate My Neighbors.

But it was a DAMN GOOD GAME.

Pong advance for gameboy advance. I don't know what it is, it just the same game, compared to the games now a days, this should be pure crap. But I went fours hours on my friend's cartiage. Come this is like the first video game created and yet I put away Final Fantasy 8 for awhile to play it. Maybe i'm just a freak.

01-25-2003, 04:30 AM
Zombies didn't need a damn concept...
I loved killing chucky dolls with Soda
pop projectiles... I wish I could
find deciption, being the bad guy rocks...

But i'll never forget.... regetfully...
Altered Beast and Primal rage...

Sega makes all the silly, can't take too seriously games, that usually end up pretty good. Toejam & Earl, Seaman, Space Channel 5, Samba de amigo, Night Trap, MJ's Moonwalker and Typing of the dead XD

01-25-2003, 10:43 AM
That's why Sega is the greatest company of all time. They're not afraid to try any weird premise, and they keep dishing out strange things.

Speaking of weird games, has anyone ever tried Mister Mosquito or Irritating Stick? Those are strange.

01-25-2003, 10:51 AM
Toejam & Earl are the best, I loved throwing glass bottles at people, especially that naked guy in the cardboard box that sings opera, he was the hardest enemy. No wait, the duck on the flying carpet was harder.

01-25-2003, 10:52 AM
My friend has Mr. Mosquito, that game is HARD, but fun.

01-25-2003, 11:04 AM
MORTAL KOMBAT!!! What a terrible game! I love it!!

And yes. Sega is the best. Forever. Period.

01-26-2003, 03:32 PM
you know what was funny about zombies ate my neighbors

it was a Lucasarts game.

i wonder what George Lucas was thinking....but who cares it was a fun game, very hard at times...when you had no more ammo and your life was low...and you couldn't find that LAST KEY!! AGGGGG....my head hurts

01-26-2003, 05:15 PM
Probably the same guy that makes all the monkey island games for lucas did it, those games are crazy and hillarious XD

01-26-2003, 07:13 PM
Monkey Island...

wah, that reminds me of LOOM! I wanna play Loom ;_; Grass green, I hate that color!

This random post has been brought to you by...the girl who never plays bad games because she doesn't play ANY games! XD

01-26-2003, 09:06 PM
TO THIS DAY every time I go to my cousin's house we play Zombies Ate My Neighbors. I grew up with that, damnit. And nothing beats running around a grocery store with popsicles and soda cans trying to flee dolls with axes...

and rescuing that damn baby from the clutches of all the chainsaw guys in the hedge maze.

*sigh* those were the days.

01-27-2003, 03:03 AM
There was a game right before zombies ate my neighbors...you had to command characters what to do & where to look & what to touch. The plot was about some teens sneaking into a freaky house of a blue-skinned family... It's killing me--I can't remember the name. That game was so hard. 0_o;

Another game I DO remember the name of was the SPY VS SPY game for the nintendo. It was so stupid & fun--I kept walking into my own traps!

One word.. Guardian Legends for the NES.. if anyone has beat that.. i have a respect for you.

01-27-2003, 07:34 AM
I remember playing this ninja twins game for my SNES when I was younger..I can't quite remember the game but I remember it being oddly satisfying in a horrible horrible way.

The twins would jump and do the little combos and the midi music would play..and the bad guys were like..hovering balls of rice or whatever xD

It was grand at the time.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors.....I own that, hehe. C'mon though, it IS cheezy but in what other game can you destroy GIANT BABIES!? None.

What about that game for genesis.....was it called Poltergeist? Where you have to scare that guy Vito and his family because he was responsible for selling you a cheap skateboard that killed you? That game was cheezy like nothing else but it definitely tore ass!

01-30-2003, 11:17 PM
Blood Kain....horrible....absolutely horrible...you are supposed to be a vamire...looking for fresh blood...so you kill people to get it....problem? everything is so freaking tiny and complicated to see that you get lost easily and rarghhh....I hate that game...it was soooo complicated I got lost after the first few minutes...and then I traded that game in along with Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust for PS1. It was an okay game....but the controls were a little weird...and the overall battles were pretty bad....oh wait can't forget this one...ever heard of Silent Bomber??? It was a game made a while back....it was cool but also complicated....after stage 8 it gets so hard you wonder how you can beat a game like that.....ughh...never playing those again!!

01-31-2003, 03:19 PM
I have a few.
1) Earthbound. It's probably the weirdest RPG I've played to date. It's not really awful, but it's pretty cheesy at times. But that's what makes it so cool!!! :D

2) EVO: Search for Eden. Not very intelletucally stimulating. I remember first playing this game and saying, "This game is so awful. You're a bucktoothed-mouse fighting off lions for heaven's sake!!!" But I said the same thing about 3 hours into the game too. :p For people who don't know about that RPG. it's a game where you start out as a pre-historic creature and Gaia, spirit of the earth, guides you to create a peaceful world by evolvoing into better creatures. Fish to birds to mammals, etc. Oh yeah, Ironically, the best evolution, (in my opinion) isn't human. :p

3) Spy Vs. Spy. Another cheesy but great game. Go, Go Backstabbing!!! :D

4) Oh yeah, and who could forget, pokemon. It's a game that you get bored of real quick, but can't seem to stop playing for some reason.

01-31-2003, 03:22 PM
james camrons dark angel its so good its crappy. the controls are awsome but the game its self sucks, you can run up walls and jump kick guys a la matrix but every level is timed grrr
