View Full Version : Mononoke Hime Cosplay: San

All in all this cosplay is going to be fairly easy to complete. The only two real concerns I have lie in: The mask and the boots...

The Boots: Light brown/olive cloth boots, obviously.. Fairly loose fit thus tied around the ankle. I have material already purchased for this but my main concern is comfort. What might someone suggest to build a cloth boot that not only doesnt look like a 'tube', sock or sack over your feet but also implements a soft sole? (Such as putting something into the bottom for comfort? Sewing the material to a soft base..?)

The Mask: Just what should I attempt to make this out of for the proper shape? Its not 100% round, tapered at the bottom almost in a similar shape you'd see Majora's mask from Zelda in. A few people have suggested various methods, but I want some more opinions from people who might have had better success in making props like this. If nothing else, anyone have a suggestion what to use as a -base- to build from? Someone suggested to me to get a plastic bowl and attempt to melt the tapered end in, but I dont have access to anything high enough power for that kind of melting yet (no heat gun :( )..

I would recommend building the shoes over a sandal or slipper for comfort and support. Walking around at a con all day, YOU NEED a good support for you feet or you could really hurt yourself. At the very least maybe some thick foam sheets for a sole?
