Any ideas for a strider Hiryu cosplay?

~edit~

What is that japanese symbol on his chest?
Does anyone have a nice, clear picture of it?
What has he got on his feet anyway?
I thought it was that slipper-ish thing, but every strider cosplayer I've seen does boots?

My questions are:
Any ideas about the belts/straps on his back?
Any pics of his grappling hook and light sword?
What to use for top and pants?

I PM'ed pictures of the old Marvel vs Capcom Strider Hiryu figurine... I hope it helps since my friend 'Bueno' doesn't have his Strider Island Moralos website completed yet.

Unfortunately, no... it's too close to JACON and another cosplay project I've got set. :(
However, if you're going to be at Anime Expo or possibly Otakon or AWA, you might see it there.

Second question, what material(s) would you reccomend for his outfit? I have no idea what to use for his sash, but I'm thinking about heavy cotton for his top&pants......

It is a kanji read "Hi." (Pronounced "hee") Considering his name, I suspect that the second character in his name would be "Ryu" as in dragon - giving him the name Flying Dragon.

So,it's a "Hi" in kanji?
