Hello!
Whee! The newbie's first post! ^_^

Ok, I'm planning on making a Mai costume to wear at CNAnime this year (it's in August, I figure that's enough time, even for me ^_~)
Problem is, I can't find any decent pictures of her to make the costume from! At least not from the front. Mostly all I've been able to find is hentai/cheesecake fan art, or photos of cosply costumes either from the side only or looking down at the chest rather than the front of the costume. Now, the side ones are usefull, but there's many of them, and frankly I don't need the cleavage shots ^_~

Anyone know where I could find some good pictures to get a pttern from (or better yet a pattern, but hey, I figure I should ask for something reasonable first, eh? ^_~) I'm just sick of slogging through the fan art porn in the hopes of finding something decent. :untrust:

PS Great smilies! ^_^ We've got some fun ones over at BPOI too! ^_~

A bunch of girls on this board have done Mai costumes. You could try browsing through the photos section and see if you can get any information about how other people have made it. I can see if I have any other sites which may be of use to you...

Thanks for the suggestion, Celine, I'll do that now ^_^
(Though that first link I followed posted by TheLoneWolf turned out to have a few good shots on it!)

Do bear in mind, though, Mai has actually gone through at LEAST 8 variations of her costume (not counting pallate swaps). So when you look for pictures, you might get some conflicting information if you don't know what version you're looking at.

If you can find the BBI 12-inch Mai Shiranui figure, that has a fantastic cloth costume on it, which is pretty accurate to her most recent costume (KOF '99 - '01). It's quality enough that one could even make patterns by scaling the design of the costume on the figure (making adjustments for personal measurments).

Here are pics of the figure... Bear in mind it was made for 16-25 year old male gamers, so it's a fan-service model, but it's decent.... Well, until you take the clothes off. The goofballs at BBI made it anatomically correct. So, maybe get her a Baribe robe if you take her outfit off (so she doesn't catch a bloody cold).

I think with Mai's Costume you should do it whichever way makes you comfortable : ) that's my moto when I made the costume! : )
