So, as you may heard, we're designating Sunday as SW day. We've got a workshop planned to help you build your own light saber prop, for example. (We might have to borrow a shuttle van to get us over to Home Depot and back for this workshop...)

I was going to ask you guys, what would you say to a Jedi Robe workshop? Sue Dawe's got a pattern that works. She says you can put together your own authentic robes in about 8 hours; obviously we're not going to have an 8-hour workshop, but I'd ask her to bring copies of the pattern and samples of a robe in progress. And she'd explain the whole process so you can go home and make yourself one.

Good Jedi robes are expensive, because you have to start with 11 yards of brown wool (and then wash it - and wash it again, because it shrinks both times and becomes thick and heavy). But we're talking about something that matches what you'll see on display at FIDM if you go see their big, big, "Dressing a Galaxy: The Costumes of Star Wars" costume exhibit. (You better go quick, it's only on for another 2 months. See http://starwars.fidm.edu/ for details.)

Anyhow, any of you hardcore enough to want to make the real deal? Should I ask Sue to come up from San Diego for this?

Please make sure to stop by http://www.animelosangeles.org/bbs/ and post a message under Workshops so that we know how many people are interested in the panel...

Sounds great, I'll be there for it.
I have also started a thread for a SW gathering on Sun.
