View Full Version : Zhang He (DW4) Sash

Okay... I am TOTALLY clueless on how to do Zhang He's sash from DW4.

The design is rather strange and I know I would not be able to find a pattern pre-made for it easily either. I have very limited sewing abilities (VERY LIMITED) and I'd prefer not to use Chinese silk for it, though I'm not too sure.

Any tips period would be most appreciated... just something to help me get started even would be fine. Thanks alot. ^_^

Do you mean just the purple sash that's tied around his waist? Probably just a tube of fabric would do, perhaps tied in the back, or else velcroed or something (even though you can't see it, I think tied would look better and be more "in style" with the art).

Polyester Chinese brocade is one of my favourite fabrics to work with, and I have made a few Dynasty Warriors costumes out of it with no troubles at all. But if you really didn't want to use brocade, satin would do just fine.

If you don't want to draft your own pattern for his sash, Butterick has a wonderful kimono pattern (http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/butterick/shop.cgi?s.item.B6698=x&TI='kimono'&page=1) that has a very similiar, gathered sash/obi. :)
