First off, thanks to everyone who came to the 2K5 shoot! Either to participate or to take pictures. (And to a few of you, sorry I didn't make the AWA contest, I kind of missed registration.)

Now, as some people may have noticed, I'm working on gathering together people for the shoot at D*C '06.

This time I'll be rockin' out the Red XIII action. (Yay flamey tail!)

Who else is in, and what costume are you planning on(if you've got a definite idea down already)?

Yay! I had a lot of fun at the shoot last year. Your moogle Lulu was awesome, so creative! ^_^ I'm not sure which costume I'm bringing yet. It's most likely going to be X2 Rikku..but I plan on doing a few of her outfits so I don't know which of them will make it yet. If Lenne turns out okay, that could be a possibility too. Good luck on your Red XIII costume!

Thanks Mocha! I'm really glad you had fun at the shoot!

And you're such a cute Rikku! I'd love to see you do another one of her outfits, but I'm sure you'd make a good Lenne too!

Kat claims to have an ingenious method for making poofy tails; if she ever gets internet service again (and assuming I get some of my work space back) we will have to exchange details pertaining to Cait Sith. For it will be a silly (and, most importantly, EASY) costume to assemble. I need to find that page with the Nightmare that was made of foam... I would like to use a similar method to make Cait's props (megaphone!) and possibly a costume based off of Ratchet Deadlocked, though that's hardly gotten past the "crazy notion" stage...

Yay for more FF cosplayers!

And pertaining to tails...What I'd like to have figured out most is how to attach it. One of my friends recently did Tokyo Mew Mew cosplay and she attached her tail to a belt-like thingy, and had issues with it being uncomfortable. My tail should be having batteries and wires in it so I definitely need some sort of support. Lemme know what you find out about for Cait Sith.

I haven't really decided what costumes I'll have with me, but I'll more than likely either have my Aeris or the FF Tactics flower girl costume that I'm currently working on. I'm also working on a Black Mage costume for my boyfriend that he will probably be wearing.

Yay again! It's nice to see some Black Mage love out there. Either way a flower girl for sweetvenus, nifty. And some VIII representation that's not Rinoa, I think that's a rare find these days.

Oh, and since I'm thinking about it...I'm going to a Rising Sun shoot this month, I'm thinking of asking him then if he could possibly come to this shoot.

At least Rinoa's cute. I just personally feel like the world needs more Quistises.

Yup, I signed up for the 17th and 18th. I'm making a winter faerie costume. And I'm thinking that I'm gonna see if after the hell that is finals is over if I can also throw together a White Mage(Chocobo Racing) in time. She's red and white, that's festive right? :toothy:

For the 17th I'm thinking of taking the Lulu/moogle and Miyuki 'cause I'd like some good portfolio-ish pictures.

I'm excited that you're coming! What're you bringing?

It's funny that you mention that because I plan on bringing (assuming I can finish it in time) White Mage Rikku. ^_^; Great minds think alike huh? I'm also working on an Xmas design from Sailor Moon manga. My friend and I are doing a Kill Bill thing.. and I hope to have Rei's manga uniform. You must bring your moogle Lulu! It definitely deserves some recognition. I'd bring X Rikku but um....it's waaaaaay too cold outside for that!

Hah! Well, hopefully we'll both have enough time to get them done and can team up for some White Mage action then! How're you planning on doing your red triangles btw?

I'm thinking that at D*Con maybe I might force one of my friends into my White Mage for the photo shoot. I love her and she's cute, but I'm more excited about Red XIII. I think I'll also see if I can't get some Kingdom Hearts cosplayers to join us. Cause I don't know about everyone else but I think of Kingdom Hearts as Final Disney Fantasy.

Final Disney Fantasy! lol Well I got my fabric for it today and I'm starting it tonight. Rikku's doesn't have triangles but it does have lots of circles and other wierdness. I'm using felt for the different shapes. It doesn't fray and the bright pretty colors show up well in pictures! If you make a stencil you could just trace them onto the fabric with a pencil. I think it should turn out well. ^_^ Are you making a staff for your mage?

You should definitely convince your friend to join! The more the merrier! I can't wait to see how your Red XIII turns out. That's a good idea for KH cosplayers. I saw a few roaming around last year and didn't even think to invite them to the FF shoot.

I'm pretty sure I won't have time for either, but eventually I want to have a staff and flying carpet for White Mage. For her carpet I'd like to make like a giant skateboard type thing and paint it up like her carpet. Hrm, I'll probably use felt too, that'd work well with the fleece I'm using. Now, should I go the quick easy route and glue them on(I have glue that I love that I discovered during the belt-skirt making process), or go the long route and applique them, and then line the robe to hide the applique stitching..hrm...

Flying carpet? That's a cool idea. ^_^ What type of glue are you using for yours? (I always wondered how Lulu cosplayers pulled that off!) I thought about applique too, but it's kind of time consuming isn't it? Besides, I'll eventually remake it one day with different materials.

Alene's super fabric glue. The regular stuff comes in a bottle, but this comes in a purple and grey tube at Walmart for a few bucks. I think I used almost two tubes of that, some vinyl glue, a little hot glue, and stitching on the sides for the belt skirt of doom. And ya, I've only done a little bit of applique, but felt does seem to be a bit easier since it's already stiff. I think the trickiest part is just to take your time with the zigzag stiches so they look good.

I got a response, and her recommendation is to use a long bit of sturdy wire attached to some sort of belt/harness thing, and tightly packing circles of black fleece is a good way to get short-hair cat tail, and it'll boucne to and fro... though for cait sith she recommended a plush tail of some sort with a wire in the middle.

Hello all, I'm gonna have Advent Children Cloud for D*C 2006, and hopefully my SeeD Gunblade specialist(NOT Squall OR Seifer, original character, I want a gunblade of my own design). But I definitely will have Cloud, I wish I coulda joined in on the 2K5 FF shoot at D*C, but I had no costume, so ya know. Who knows, I may even have Yojimbo done by that time.

The new game coming out hopefully soon(right now its March) is including Mulan, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Tron. I really think including KH cosplayers would give us an even greater variety. So if you know any Disney/KH cosplayers who are coming to D*Con please invite them. I also like the different designs for FF characters in KH. I think it'd be nifty if we had some of those character versions show up too. Oh, and Auron should be joining in the new game too.

vamphunterx, wow Yojimbo cosplay, I'd like to see that. But of course I'm also all for more AC love, and the original design idea sounds interesting too.

well, i've been doing soon talking with evil dr. axis... he was auron last year, and i was squall.

while i was a little satisfied with my costume and gunblade, i could definately construct a better gunblade (more realistic) and find better materials for a better, and more matching, jacket and pants. i will more than likely bring that costume again this year. as for auron, that costume may be getting retired. i'll talk to axis, but last year really wore the jacket out. it can be repaired but we do have plans for other FF costumes this year.

so... would two days, or at least two sessions of Final Fantasy, be a good idea?

on to the big deal...
axis and i are planning to do some advent children inspired costumes. axis is looking into procuring a vincent costume. i, on the other hand, will be trying to put together a sephiroth cotume. i've seen people selling costumes on ebay, but they are not up to my personal standards. not to mention, for those of you that know me, i'm a pretty skinny, pretty tall guy. i'll have to do it all myself. fortunately, my build makes me ideal for sephiroth. the biggest problem will be tracking down the perfect wig. IF YOU CAN HELP ME WITH THIS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW! my costume is inspired by ALL versions of sephiroth, including kingdom hearts... okay, not the big monster thing from nintendo. the sword will also be huge and impressive. i'm kind of tired of seeing all those tin-foil wrapped things that others have been willing to carry around...

let me know what you think.

As I said in the previous planned costume post, count me in! I'm still debating which costume to take: it's a toss up between Lulu and AC Tifa. I'm more inclinded to take Lulu if I am unable to attend AX. I put a lot of work into that costume and would love to show it off. :)

TheWickedOne, are you planning to style Sephiroth's wig yourself? If so, I can help you with extensions and the like.

i'm a little twitchy with wigs... i normally stick to costumes where i can style and color my on hair. going so far as to plan ahead just to grow my hair out.

this ofcourse won't work for sephiroth, his hair goes down to like... his knees. and considering that i'm 6'4"... that's a lot of growing.

so, do me a favor, vespertinal. if you can tell me where you think i should find a wig that long, could you? i'd appreciate it and if i find out i need styling i'll keep in touch. i can style hair pretty well myself, but it's more of a punk thing, you know... mohawks, rooster crests, liberty spikes, horns, etc. i've never messed with really long (like 'girl' long) hair.

thanx

Wow you're tall. My hair reaches to the back of my thighs and I'm only 5'4". I can only imagine how heavy and long it would take you to grow yours out.

Hmn... I don't think I know of a wig with the correct length for you right off the back (I'll check my sources for you), but with a good wig base and extensions, you can get it to the appropriate length required.

Try looking on ebay for a 40 or 60 inch long base wig. Amphigory.com carries one that's 42 inches in the appropriate color. Cosworx.com also has one, but I'm almost positive the Godiva wig doesn't come in white. Just make sure the synthetic wig isn't made from cheap Halloween plastic (it looks horrible).

Depending on the shade of white, purchase the longest extensions you can find (drlocks.net is a good source) and attach them to the wig; you'll get some nice length.

There is a Japanese wig site which caters to cosplayers and the special long hair required for characters (sephiroth is one of them) but since I am unable to read the text, I couldn't tell you how long the wig was or if they ship overseas. Would you still like the site link anyway?

Great ideas everyone! Can't wait to see them all!

About Sephiroth...Personally I think lenght isn't the most important thing, 'cause for one thing long hair can be a pain in the ass to keep up with. Like when I do Chobits cosplay I use a much shorter wig than Chii/Freya's hair is portrayed to be, but it's the right style and color. About style, Katie Bair has done some Sephiroth wigs. And again, personally I just don't think the VII hair really looks right on real people.
http://www.pettingzoowigs.com/wig_accurate_sephiroth.html
http://www.pettingzoowigs.com/wig_sephiroth.html
AC Sephiroth looks much much more realistic.
http://www.rpgfan.com/pics/ff7-ac/ss-004.jpg
I think that if you just got a white/silvery wig with no bangs this could be pulled off pretty easily. You could maybe just cut some wispy bits in the front. And if I remember right Katie gets her wigs through Amphigory.
http://www.amphigory.com/wigs_enchantment.html
So, maybe the Enchantment wig in Lily?
One other thing to think about. I have a white wig I got off eBay that I was unhappy with, it was way too thin. Then I ordered some white wefts from ragdolly.net and sewed those in to thicken it up. It ended up giving the wig a really cool effect because it was two different shades of white, a more natural and a more silvery. I think I really adds a lot having the different colors. Maybe you could try the Sharpie method(with a silver one) on a white wig as well to give it highlights/shadows.

Swords, I dunno. The only one I've ever helped make was my Ashura sword which was made out of clear acrylic for the blade and wood for the hilt. And that's one I'd like to redo 'cause it was done in kind of a rush and not enough detail went into it.

Two photo shoots? Hrm, maybe. We'll have to see what everyone else thinks. I'll have two other primary costumes 'sides Red XIII and whatever else I can manage. Speaking of which, omg, I got my wig for Red. It's ridiculous, I love it. And, I'm planning on at least bringing my White Mage(it's the comfiest thing ever), so it's an idea to keep kicking around.

Oh, and I might have one of my friends talked into cosplaying Kairi. Yay KH!

TheWickedOne
01-16-2006, 01:45 AM
so i've done a little thinking. i'm thinking we should do a final fantasy shoot one night, but just kinda hang out and have fun, not take that one too seriously. that would be the shoot where we wear the costumes we already have, you know, nothing new. then, like last year, we'll devote a morning, that will turn into an afternoon, of our great new final fantasy costumes!

also, i've done a little researching, and window-shopping for sephiroth. i'm going to try the uber-long hair. i'll get a very long wig, like 40 or 42 inches. then i'll get the extensions and clip them on, under the back of the wig, that should actually satisfy the style of his hair. if there is a difference in color, i'll tint/blend with my airbrush. i've found the boots, they are black leather, and the extact style of his boots(thigh-high and all). as for the jacket, i'll be sewing it myself, it's the only way to insure that it'll fit my lithe frame. i'm also going to pound the shoulder armor out of galvanized aluminum flashing. that'll make it look more realistic.

the jacket will be tailored in the fashion of FFVII. changed in advent children by the addition of extra buckles in the front, and other minor additional details, that will be added to my design. the split/splined style of jacket worn in kingdom hearts doesn't appeal to me, but the red to black fade of the interior lining does, so it will be added. also, the black angel wing, which never seems to appear until the later stages of battle, will be a permanent fixture in my design. his sword, ofcourse will be the best possible replica i can devise.

here's another dilemma, i'll need to wear some make-up. so, my moogle-ish vampirate, what was the shade of lipstick you had for moogle lulu? and where can i get it? also, what do you think would work bbest for any eye make-up i may need? reply soon? please?

I used some Ben Nye Misty Violet. It comes in a little tub. I used a brush to put it on. I should be bringing my makeup kit to D*Con. Ben Nye stuff can be ordered at a lot of places online. Maybe just a little liner and neutral brownish shadow on the eyes. I really like Almay self sharpening liner. Just put a little powder on it and it's staying. My biggest issue I've had in my makeup classes so far has been my eye makeup getting all smeary when I have a lot of creamy makeup on.

Hrm, that schedule doesn't sound like a bad idea. We all also have to figure out if anyone is doing any contests. There's a new costume contest I think um, Friday night. So now the Masquerade can be the more skit orientated contest and there can be one just for quality costumes. And there's the anime contest which I think is normally Saturday afternoon.

Oh, and don't forget Amano art. There's some out there for Sephiroth.

Argh...wish I looked enough like an FF character to do a costume. This year I'm probably going to have to stick to DOA and Resident Evil...I wish Sabin wore more clothes or FFXII had a guy that looked like me, but I haven't kept up enough with it to know.

Bevandera: I think you could pull of an awesome Seifer (FF8) or maybe even Cid (FF7). ^_^

I like the idea of two shoots. It means more costumes! More people can participate too if they can't make one or the other...

As for my cosplay, it's definitely going to be X-2 Rikku. I'm thinking about white mage since it's almost done and I'm not sure what the other class is going to be yet...I keep changing my mind! ^_^;;

Bevandera, if you wanna go FFVII, cid is a way to go, or maybe reno? there's also wakka from FFX...

either way, when you from kingdom hearts I & II in the mix, you open up a ton of other costumes that can be done... it's actually forced me to go back and redecide on costumes that i want to make

i'm begining to feel like i don't have time for this, but it's my only real vacation every year so i need to make it happen.

First off, welcome selphy kitty!

And ditto on the Cid for Bevandera. I could so see that!

Now is anyone thinking of entering in any of the contests with any of their FF costumes?

There's going to be a new contest, Friday night I think, that's actually based on the costumes and not the skits. *gasp*(what a concept) I'm thinking I might want to take Red to that, but there's another costumes I might be making in class I might consider too. Otherwise I think the anime costume contest is usually Saturday afternoon. I know there were some FF cosplayers at that one last year. Of course there's the Masquerade, which to me has always just seemed like too much hassle so I've never done it.

That costume contest sounds pretty cool. I might enter the anime contest this year. Last year it was too close to Dawn so I didn't have the time. It was fun and all but it took up way too much time. Do they allow groups in the anime contest? If they do, what do you guys think about entering as a giant FF group? ^_^

TheWickedOne
02-01-2006, 03:54 PM
as far as the costume contest goes, i'm game. that is ofcourse if it's not going to take an inexplicably long time. if i'm going to have to miss out on things because i'll be stuck in a boring staging area, i might not be too interested, you know what i mean? last year, in the masquerade, me and the rest of the x-men group decided that there were other things we'd so much rather be doing than stuck backstage for hours. not to mention, there are kids running around back there, and people practicing their skit or action sequence without any regard for other peoples space... that tends to tapdance on my last nerves.

i know i sound like a pesimist, but i do think a big FF group entering could be fun. we'll have to see how the whole things going to work when we get there.

Yay for FF lovin' at D*C!

I normally reserve my non-anime costumes for D*C, but this year seems to be breakin the habbit. If I have time in between stuff, I've always wanted to do Rosa from FFIV. So if she gets done, I'd love to pop in for the photoshoot ^_^.

We'll have to do some more research on the contests then. I think we'd have a better shot of entering a group in the more low-key anime contest. And then we'd all have each other to hang out with during the contest and be able to meet up with anyone who didn't enter afterwards for photo shoot action.

I'm still thinking about the one Friday night too. I agree with other things said too though. I hate missing out on fun stuff. Maybe if enough other people I know enter it'll be worth it.

And, IV and KH2 action! Awesome!

sephiroth on the other hand, is a different story. i've got the pants... and that's it. i'll cut the sword when the weather is drier. when i've got the money, i'll buy the pleather and thread and needles to make the jacket. i have decide that 100% custom is the way to go on that, to insure a perfect fit on my lithe frame. i'm still trying to design a light-weight wing that will move a little, and a rig to hold it that will be sturdy enough. i've got tons of stuff to do, fortunately, i'm thinking about it far enough ahead of time this year, i should be able to get things done.

we'll definately have to see which contests have which rules and how long they'll take. i'm interested in entering whatever one, just not the masquerade. i'll avoid that like the bloody freakin' black plague...

Hey everyone, long time first time :-p

My fiancee and I are working on Sephiroth and Aerith for D*C this year. Unfortunately we had to miss last year, so we didn't get to meet anyone but I've been the previous 3 years and can't wait to come back.

While I someday dream of being able to finish (and have the guts to finish all the detail for) Kimahri, Sephie is something of a lifelong dream. Though I lack the freakish long hair, I am 6'8" and sometimes find very tall human(oid) characters to cosplay hard to find, but characters like Sephiroth, Kimahri, and to a lesser extent, Wakka and Irvine, somewhat call to me as just fitting. Maybe Kimahri for D*C 2007, but this year we hope to present Seph and Aerith.

I'm heard about that through various boards, but the information I've have is limited. Do you know if they plan to incorperate some of the rules found within the International Costumers' Guild. I'd love to participate, but since I'm considered a professional, I can't always enter.

I'm trying to get my brothers to dress as various FF characters, so if there is anyone in particular you guys would like to see, let me know and I'll pass it along to them.

Vespertinal, I think if I remember right there is a professional level to enter in. Someone posted what will probably be the official info on the D*Con live journal.

Guys, hrm. I'd like to see Guadosalam hair done really well. So even though Seymour kinda creeps me out(he sounds like Him from PowerPuff Girls I think) I think having a really good Seymour in the group would be nifty.

And vamphunterx...Miss Square Enix, hah! You have to make a little beauty queen sash to go with your Wallmartket costume! That would be just too funny.

LOL yeah it would. Not a bad idea, I might just do that. I've now decided that I'm not going to do "Wallmarket" Cloud...

...I'm gonna do Advent Children "Wallmarket" Cloud!!! I always like to be different somehow, so I'll use elements of Cloud's AC costume and mix it with the Wallmarket look. I'm also debating on another "Wallmarket" cosplay, but who is a secret for now.

Ooh, I've got a couple of ideas. Maybe you could find ribbed fabric like his shirt to use, although I think that could only look right for the top part, not the skirt. I think having a little necklace of his wolfy head thingy would be cute. And/or you could change the red bits to black to be a more AC color scheme.

I've finally got a pic of my Red XIII prosthetic I made in class. I don't think I'll be bringing it to the con. It's a fair amount of trouble, but then you can read the description for the pic if you want...

As for me it's looking like I'll be having even more FF/KH costumes than Red for the con. My friend, aiuchi, and I are now planning on being Namine and Kairi Sunday. And I'm thinking about doing a new moogle costume, cause I've got a new idea and it's kind of getting to be a tradition for me. I've always been too shy to do cosplay in the past, plus having little to know knowledge of sewing doesn't help. Still, I've always thought if I ever did, I'd have to go with either Final Fantasy or one of the Shadow Hearts games.

Does anyone have suggestions for an FF costume for someone who is tall, winter-complected (almost Welsh) and an inexperienced cosplayer?

I'll be there in my very first FF/anime/whatever related costume -- Yuna, version 1.0, a.k.a. FFX version. I hope to have some pictures up soon on my profile, but I'm pretty proud of the way the costume looks now. I'm not too experienced at cosplay...I was Professor McGonagall from Harry Potter at last year's D*C. If any of you remember a lady in a witch's hat and a long green robe delightedly squeeing over seeing Auron...yeah, that was me. :D

mintytrina, good luck with Kairi especially the zippers. If you haven't been there yet check out the Kairi thread, everyone there is really helpful if you need anything: http://forums.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=73378

Clarion, male or female costumes? But in general you could always go 8-bit and go for a FF1 character class. I suggest that fairly often, but then I just think it would be funny to have a generic fighter or such. (I obviously used to read 8-bit Theatre.)

Good luck working on your Yuna swishnflick! And yes, definitely bring your friend!

Contests and planning: I've e-mailed the person running the anime track to try and get info on their costume contest. I haven't heard anything back yet. Last year we had the shoot Saturday afternoon after that contest. Does this general plan still sound good to everyone?

Also last year we had the shoot in the Marriott, but I think there's more construction going on there this year. Does anyone have suggestions of easy to find places to meet with a lot of open space?

Fabrications contest, anyone thinking of entering? I was originally thinking of making my boyfriend enter in a costume I'm making for him. But now I'm thinking that I might want to enter Red if I want to change my plans around a bit. I've got fairly eleborate tail plans for Red. If I do this I still might wear Red Saturday afternoon, if not I'll have a new moogle costume. Anyone have any opinions for me on this?

Vampirate: I like the Kairi costume, Awesome job

Thanks! I think I'll be wearing Kairi to the cosplay.com shoot.

Sunday: It looks like Sunday is sounding good, yay! As far as location I like the lower floor of the Marriott just because it's not swamped with traffic. I would like it if maybe we could be somewhere um, prettier for pictures though. Anyone have any input on the matter?

the only thing that comes to mind is that area where the cosplayers gather for the parade but I doubt that people would be willing to walk over there Sunday

How many people are we talking about? You could always go out to the fountain outside the front of the Marriott -- that's big enough to handle lots of people and offers lots of posing possibilities.

On the side facing the Hyatt where cars pull up to drop off luggage?

Oh, and is there anything else going on Sunday afternoon that we need to schedule around? I'm thinking we need a specific time.

everytime i check cosplay.com i see all the gearing up you are all doing for d*c. it's going to be very difficult, but i'm going to try as hard as i can to come this year. i really won't have the money to do anything really dround-breaking. but i will bring squall back. i may do something different, but right now i don't know what it will be. so if i show, it'll be a surprise.

Well, I hope our Squall can make it!

Clarion, hrm. That could look nice, but would we be blocking traffic enough for us to have to move. It is a pretty high traffic area. Or if we clung to the fountain enough would we be out of the way? hrm...

Ack! I really gotta start logging in more often. I think Sunday would be a great time for the photoshoot mainly because I like the idea of meeting everyone and saying hi at the cosplay.com gathering.

If our group remains the size it is now, we shouldn’t have a problem blocking traffic. I'm not a hundred percent sure on that though. But meeting by the fountain sounds like a good idea. Do you have a specific time you want to meet?

I hope you can make it TheWickedOne!

Well if the weather is nice that day there a place at the Marriott at the back of the main level where a nice patio area where i took this shot of a pirate

if not we can meet in main lobby of the Hyatt but that time might be heckit due to feeding time/

vampirate

Darkkyo, oh I like that! How does everyone else feel about this location if Darkkyo will be good enough to describe to everyone how to get there? I also think meeting in the Hyatt would be crazy. And when I think more about the fountain I'm worried the lighting might be weird due to it being in the shade.

What's a good post lunch time but not too late time for everyone? Maybe 2ish?

AshleyV
07-14-2006, 01:59 PM
I took pictures at that location last year. If need be there could be a couple of people waiting with may-be a sign or something to help point people in the right direction if they get lost. 2 pm sounds like a good idea to me.

Hey all! Count me in for D Con as both a Final Fantasy and a Kingdom Hearts cosplayer! I'm a D Con newbie, btw, so take it easy on me - I have no idea what to expect.
I'll be in Tifa (AC version) mode one day and Riku mode (KH2) the next, so this should be interesting. Also, one of the people in my group is going to be Summoner Yuna, so I guess add two people? lol

I'm still reading over the older posts, but what are the solid plans for photo shoots, etc. so far? Are there going to be seperate days for FF and KH or are they being lumped in together?

I'm the moogle/Lulu from last year. And don't worry I've got my feet done for my FF costume this year and I'm in-progress on my tail, so I've got a lot left to do. :toothy: At least my clothing for it should be fairly simple. Speaking of which, I'm thinking of binding for Red XIII. I think it makes sense since if you think about it, it is crossplay, opinions?

I say go for it, if you want the accuracy - which I'm assuming you do...
I'm going to have to do some major binding for Riku. I didn't do it for previous crossplays and majorly regretted it when I saw the pictures - it just really distracts from your portrayal. I'm still working on the best method though. Going with a sports bra and ace bandage combination at the moment...Do you know of anything better?

And I love the Moogle/Lulu costume! That's fantastic! ^_^

I'll try to be there to take pictures, since my flight is at 6pm and I'll be leaving by 3:30-4:00pm. Sunday is usually slow for cosplayers, but if everyone still plans to have the gathering, I'll be happy to take pics. At 2 there was a large crowd of us right inside the door to the patio waiting for everyone to show up with a couple of us running around trying to find people.

I realized I left my sign, which I put out probably fifteen minutes before two, I figure some nice hotel staff had to deal with it later. I was hoping it would help people find us.

Anyways, even though we missed a few people we had a good turnout. And I did really like the patio as a location. For future reference it's on the lobby where the check in desks are. The steps in it seem to go up to the pool.

vamphunterx
09-04-2006, 08:39 PM

vampirate
09-04-2006, 09:51 PM
Yeah, I did think it would last a little longer since it did last year. I think the reason it didn't was because we were a little out of the way and not smack dab in the middle of everything. But sometimes inside hotel pictures with random other con/hotel stuff going on in the background just drives me nuts! I thought the patio made for nice scenery.

Plus thanks to Eurobeat King we had a photographer to organize us. I'm not complaining at all, but I think that cut down on the time a little bit too.

Speaking of thanks: Thanks to any Final Fantasy and/or Kingdom Hearts cosplayer who came to the con! Even if the shoot didn't really work out for you at least we were well represented at D*Con! And thanks to friends, and fans, and photographers who came to the shoot, we couldn't have such things without your support!

And now I've already got three more ideas for FF/KH costumes I want to do...

Just wanted to say I had a great time seeing everyone in their amazing costumes this past weekend and I'm already looking forward to getting to attend some future cons in the Southeast (gotta stick close to home!)...if you have any rec's, let me know!

Eurobeat King is putting pictures up of the shoot right now! Here's the most current page right now before it gets lost in all the Sunday pics: http://images.cosplay.com/gallery.php?cat=53024&member=18

Thanks Darkkyo! And welcome to the forum swishnflick!

Hey everyone. I was so glad to hear about the shoot, I actually didn't know about it till Sunday after EB took some pics and said "Be in the Marriot later for the FF/KH shoot" So It was awesome that it worked out, and I just loved everyones costumes! I totally look forward to another one next year!

Oh, btw, I was the Gunner Yuna there ^^ Anyway, it was wonderful meeting and posing with everyone! *huggles for all* Have a great day!

Spectral Fire, can we hope to see you there? My life-long dream so far is to Hug a Sasuke-kun, and I'd love to add Riku and Sora to that list. =3

Are you going the whole weekend?

Thanks for joining us Hanime! I guess we'll get to see you again next year!

WickedOne, I was so sad we all missed each other. Hopefully everything will work perfectly next year.

Great gallery Hikaruchan! Thanks so much for posting the link!

So does anyone else have an idea of what they might be wearing next year?

I know for sure that I'm doing ANBU Temari and I /hope/ I can do Nanao Ise from Bleach.

They're all pictures I stole from one place or another, but I put together a gallery that I felt represents the shoot pretty well.

Damn, looks like I missed a lot of fun stuff this year. (As it turns out I'm STILL clamboring out of my traveling debts, so D*C was a no-go for me...) However, I still have more neat costume ideas and a whole extra year to work on them, so hopefully D*C 2007 will have some awesome set aside for me.
