I didn't use a pattern with my daughter's Sakura..but as for the shirt, I made it like a regular shirt, just with fun poofy sleeves..and guessed on the collar :/

The skirt, I folded the fabric like when you'd make a fan..just overlapping a bit. And of course, stitch the tops of the pleats about 2-3 inches at the top to hold them still before tacking them down to the waistband thingy. They'll retain their shape better that way. As for the gloves, I doubled up on some fabric and made them into a sort of...keyhole shape and stitched on straps. I don't know how you'd want to do those since your hands are obviously much bigger. If you want to make them puffed up, you could double up on the fabric so they make a sort of pouch and then use batting or what not to stuff with.

http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=337570 You can see the pleat lines when it flares out..to see how things overlapped.

Hope that helps a tad at least.

I'm going to pimp my good friend Imriela:

If you ask her for advice you'll make her day, she loves helping people. =)

The gloves are fairly easy. They're the same style for Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Dan, and Guy, in addition for Sakura of course. Here's what I did:

Two pieces of pliable foam about 1/2 an inch thick, color fabric you want to use, and hot glue

One piece of foam should be about two inches in width and run a bit longer than the diameter of your wrist.
The second piece should be about the width of the top of your hand (this is for customized fitting for yourself), and lengthwise it should be from where your hand and wrist meet to your middle knuckles on your fingers.
Cover both pieces of foam in the color fabric using the hot glue.
Once covered take the first piece of foam and glue both ends together. Make sure you can slide your hand in and out. Don't need a snug fit, but not a loose one either!
Glue the second piece of foam somewhere on the outer edge, so when you slide the whole assemble piece on your wrist is covered and so is your outer hand.
Finally, take some leftover fabric and make a loop to glue on the inside of the piece that cover your hand. Make sure you glue it on the end so your fingers slide in. This is to make the glove move with your fingers.
Repeat again for second glove! **lol**

That's all there is to it! You can view my one of my Street Fighter pics for a decent shot of how they look.

I've seen pics of them looking like this or an actual glove with the foam attached. This happens to be an easy, cheap, and effective way of constructing them.

Hope this helps!

Another cosplayer that I've seen in the Cosplay.com galleries who did SFA's Sakura is wantan; check out her Sakura cosplay here (http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=243728) (& here (http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=172885)).

You probably could also ask her about how she assembled her costume.

Actually, Sakura doesn't really have gloves, they're more like sparring mitts. This sprite sheet has some good shots of them: http://sprites.fireball20xl.com/OS/Capcom/Sheets/sakura2.gif

I just took a piece of half-inch upholstery foam, cut bits in the shape of the back of my hand, and sewed little red pillow cases for them. Then I wrapped a doubled-over piece of the red spandex around my wrist, and tacked a neat little strap across my palm from the top outer edges of the pillow.

However, make them any way you like. ^_^

And you really did make my day with your PM, kittie! Hope my suggestions helped!
