I'm going to my first cosplay convention in october as Yuna, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I can find a summoning staff...I've been viewing the pictures, and just about everyone who came as Yuna had one...

Someone help, please!

most people make their own. after a small breakdown of the pieces, it's not hard to put together. ^-^

some people go with her default rod...others with the sterotypical yuna one....some with unique choices ( like heki-chans water rod ( ? ) ) so look through them all first, take your pick and then maybe ask for suggestions on how to make it, if you need to. ^_~

Well, my friend made the default staff. We got a think wooden pole from the Hardware store. Then we took a ruler and carefully decided where to draw each line. Once we drew the design on we cut it out with a saw and made the holes using a drill. Then we sanded in down. In the wooden pole, we cut a notch in it to put the top piece.

Vikee then painted it and added a screw on hook and tyed a bell to it.

Edit: Here is a pic of her staff.....and her. She remade her Yuna costume though already. Looks a million times better.... too bad she has no new pics.

I made one of Yuna's other staffs... basically just a wooden pole like everyone uses, some metal sheets for the accents, and fabric strips braided and glued around it for the rest. The crystal ball on the end was found in a craft store, (it originally was just blue) and required extensive painting. ^_^

Yeah I made my staff as well. I pretty much did the same thing as Collie did, using wood and all. The bottom tho on mine is metal and of course, the bell is as well. Depending on which staff you're doing, you might not even hafta do any wood carvings or crazy designs. Like for the one with the circley thingy thingy at the end.

since my staff design was all curly and stuff i decided against wood, and just foam-cored it then papermached it^_^ then just used acrylics to paint it--several layers. Then added shiny glaze to make it look nicer^_^

sorry for the crappy photo

the tassle thing at the bottom was attached by a paperclip LOL
and for the plastic rod, i used an old devil'spike thing from halloween and then gluegunned fabric and ribbons to the plastic so i wouldnt need to bother painting it :)

XD i just made the rod spur of the moment, without even having a plan on a Yuna costume. I made the common wand. i had alot of cardboard lying around so i cut the shape out of that then glued on lots of layers to it, so it was thick. then i spraypainted it gold. then i found this lil pipe thingy and covered it in newspaper so i could paint on it, then i glued it to the top then paper mached it to the top. then i found an old broomstick and paper mached the entire thing. now i just have to paint it. so yea, i'm cheap, it hasnt cost me a dime yet! and i still have a *ton* of cardboard left over
edit: although, i have no clue how sturdy its gonna be, its really really light!!
