[not sure where to put this]

I've been scanning the photos around the site, and I've been seeing alot of costumes of something called "Dion Roger's Rinoa". This is completely new to me.

So the question is this: Who was or is this Dion Roger's, and how did her costume come into being? What's the history behind it and how it became so popular and reknowned?

Dion Rogers did an illustration of Rinoa, imagining her as if she had been in X-2. People saw this illustration and liked enough to make costumes of it.

hmm, I was told that the design was for Rinoa in Kingdom Hearts. Oh well, either way it's a very cool design! It's one of my favorite cosplays to this point!

From what I know of it was to be her 'Gunner' form as if she was to be a part of YuRiPa, like a 'what if?'.

A lot of people have made there own designs of different dress spheres from characters outside of Spira but I think Dion Rogers Rinoa was the most popular because he (I think it's a he, lol) did it in 3D CG.

I know Lainey has a very nice repilca of this costume she commised, and she got permission too.

I heard Kingdom Hearts, but who knows. I'm beginning to think the X-2 explanation makes WAY more sense.

I can tell you for sure that it's NOT Kingdom Hearts. My brother knows everything there is to know about KH2 without spioling it for himslef and Rinoa has never been mentioned as a character, Aeris and Yuna yes but not Rinoa, I don;t think she has ever been considered for KH.

No, Rinoa was never supposed to be in Kingdom Hearts II, but when the original KH came out, Dion Rogers designed a Rinoa for KH to go along with Leon, although the design itself was based on the X-2 designs. There was no plans for KH2 at the time, but that was what the fanart was for. She did such a good job, that when KH2 was announced, it began rumors that it was a real design for KH2. The fanart was made almost 4 years ago now, I think. At any rate, the Dion Rogers Rinoa is considered Kingdom Hearts, as far as I know.

Here's the artwork in question:

Ah, I see now. Thank you very much for those explanations. I learned something today.

Oh, and by the way, I'm a dedicated KH fan and I can confirm that there never has been nor will be any Rinoa in KH or the soon to be release KH2.

Well actually, if you keep your eye on what Leon/Squall does during the KH II ending credits you can see a very subtle hint of her existence, but I doubt that they'll ever actually put her in KH.

Actually the design was made for a contest on a 3d modeling site. Contestants were suposed to make characters in the FFX-2 style. Nothing to do with KH in any way, the design was just so good that people thought that was what it was for.

I read about that, too. Squall was reading the note and something was on it. Some said that it was feather or something else, but all I see in one of the videos is just a pink buterfly. I really hope she comes out in KHIII, if there is one.

Oh, okay - that explains a lot. :bigtu: I'd always wondered what originally inspired such a complex rendering. However, its a huge compliment to her that it has taken off, and was mistaken for a KH rendering for years. ^^

He wanted to make a FFX-2 styled Rinoa.

See for yourself, there are even some pictures showing how he made it, etc.
