Does anyone have a list of masquerade winners? I missed the award presentation and would like to see who won :)

Yay! Someone got a picture of the extremely helpful Stage Ninja Choir! :)

Although I'm thinking now that I should have seriously kept my mask on all weekend - I'm not very happy with my Phantom make-up at all - I look like a peanut butter and jam monster. :(

It's not done yet, but here's a link to the in-progress page for my photo sessions:

(warning: may eat your bandwidth)

Still have a few (mostly shorter) photosessions to go through, plus a few general convention photos, but hopefully I'll have them up within a week or so too. Thanks to the brave souls who braved the cold for shots and I hope to get the people I missed at another event...

My con report is kinda irrelevant this year cause I couldn't bring myself to take pictures of any of the costumes I saw. Nothing really looked new or visually interesting to me. *shrugs*

I broke even on my art show sales and the room parties scared me so I hid in my friends hotel room all weekend and watched anime. They had better stuff on tv than in the anime room. The lolita party seemed especially scary. And the pirate room party that didn't happen but all the pirates showed up and showed everything anyways.

Every time I went out someone told me "I like your costume" In fact I went through the con suite looking for someone and was told the same thing literally six times in less than five minutes.

I was not wearing a costume. I didn't bring a costume. I was not even wearing my usual make-up, I was totally dressed down in a pair of black cargo pants and a black tank-top, with a black sweater over it. I'm just a natural goth or something. Were costumes really that scarce that people felt they needed to comment on what I was wearing?? >< And by the end of that con I seriously wanted to strangle something.

Ad Astra is still my least favourite con and yet I will probably go again next year just because I always get sucked into it. C'est la vie.

Novaraven, I really don't understand why you insist on going to a con that you hate. You say that you never make much money because people there don't appreciate your art style, you find the atmosphere 'scary' or 'boring', and you never have anything positive to say about it, so WHY go every year just to complain about it afterwards?

Do you just feel the need to complain? If so, kindly confine your whining to your LJ. We've all heard many, many times how AA is such a terrible experience for you, so if you feel the need to 'force' yourself to go yet again, then please keep your gripes to yourself from now on. But really, if you hate the con so much, maybe you could just NOT GO, hmm? I'm sure there are other ways you could spend a weekend.

Err, in regards to your "natural goth" wear, just politely tell them you aren't in costume but take it as a compliment anyways that people were at least noticing you? Think how many people wear costumes at conventions and get no recognition. There's no need to complain about it since it's no harm done, just take your fashion sense in pride and be thankful people weren't saying mean things. Complaining about it here will accomplish nothing nor is it anything that's wrong with the convention. It's just your own pet peeve of sorts.

I don't attend Ad Astra but I keep up on the threads.. I have yet to hear you say one positive thing about the convention... If I were you, either stop attending or at least stop complaining about it here... By now you're just preaching to the choir. I think we've all heard your input on Ad Astra by now and it doesn't ever seem to change.

Dude. i'll admit it - the con is for slightly older less spazzy people. we're boring and unnattractive and we're not 14 anymore and don't run around in day-glo broadcloth. sure, it's unfortunate, but different strokes for different folks, ok?

if it's not your scene, for the love of god, why don't you just DO SOMETHING YOU LIKE? you *can* say no to your friends and stay home alone, you know. it's not the end of the world.

if you get forced to do something you don't like, then by all means, you're fully entitled to complain and you have my sympathies - but if you are aware that you hate something from the get-go and do it ANYWAY? how on EARTH is anyone supposed to have sympathy for that? please, go beg for attention elsewhere. i can't take it anymore.

=_=???

Hi, I don't know why you keep insisting on posting posts like the above.

While it is your opinion, you express it in an insulting way. If you wish to post in that manner, please keep it to your personal journal or something.

Cosplay.com does not tolerate posts with the intention of causing flame wars or just plain insulting others. Please consider this a formal warning and use better judgment in the future, thanks!

Found through the Ad Astra lj community:

BTW - Elemental, could you post up the Masquerade winners list at some point? After seeing the video of the show I'm intersted to know who won in the classes other than my own (was too jittery during the awards to remember anything more than the other Journeymen).

I haven't uploaded mine yet. I was hoping to take a few full shots of my costume before I upload them all. :bigtu:

I have some pictures from Ad Astra in my gallery, but they're mostly of the same bunch of people, since I am but a cosplay initiate, and lack the courage to ask random people I don't know for pictures. Also, I didn't have my camera on Sunday.

I doubt that I'll get around to putting the finishing details on my Peacock Yűko costume, so rather than holding my con photos hostage - here they are :)

I've uploaded them HERE (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v249/archangeli/Ad%20Astra%202006/)

Sorry to re-interject, but I've updated the gallery with a bunch of shots. Getting close to done now, so if I took a pic of you, it's probably in there...

Is there an official list of the winners from the masquerade somewhere? I'm sure that it's been posted somewhere around here before, but I can't spot it and I'm not particularly inclined to wade through all the comments on the Ad-Astra LJ again. Can anyone help me?
