I called in yesterday (and yes, I am crazy for reserving early), but when I called, they are OUT OF DOUBLE BEDS. There are only single bed rooms left; plan accordingly. Just thought I'd share.

I'm glad I booked the hotel already even though Khene and I have yet to pre-reg for the con. I thought it might fill quickly just like the main hotel for ACen did. Glad I guessed right. I can't wait for the con though it will be my last one for the year.

I second the "no double beds" thing -- booked my room a few days ago, and there were only king bed rooms left. I highly encourage people to go ahead and make their reservations. It's a GORGEOUS hotel and you can't beat $88/night. I'd much rather stay there than at a neighboring hotel. ^____^

I brought this up last year that maybe the con was starting to get too big for the hotel, and maybe they should consider looking into a larger one. The Tyson's Corner area has many to choose from.

well I guess it just depends on how many ppl are in your room, but I got a room with a king bed last year in the tower with my fiance, and the rooms are HUGE, so even with a lot of ppl, you'll be ok...
so I wouldn't be discouraged with getting a king bed, the rooms are really great =)

I'm glad I booked my room 2 months ago. The funny thing is, I have 2 beds and it looks like there's only going to be 2 of us that are going to be able to go! ;_;

Whew! Yeah I read this thread just by coincidence and immediately booked a king with rollaway. Close call... I'm so wrapped up in plans for AMA and Ota that I forgot about AUSA! Oh well. So Kurzes, you said the king rooms are really big? How many people do you think you can fit in there comfortably?

And yeah, that is a fantastic rate!

Well, I don't know if they have any normal rooms with king beds, but the room we got last year was absolutely huge. This (http://img5.ranchoweb.com/images/fushigichan/ausa001.jpg) was our room last year, and that's not including a pic of the large area when you first walk in the room with a large closet, an extra table, and the bathroom which had two sinks, a very large counter area which would allow like 3 ppl to be getting ready comfortable at a time, and a seperate room with the shower and toilet. anyway, idk how well the pic shows it, but there was a considerable amount of room on the other side of the bed, and had the two extra chairs and small table.
In this room, you could fit at least 3, maybe 4 ppl in the bed dpending on how they sleep, and I would say another 3 people on the floor and would still have enough room for costumes and people's stuff spread around...

Unless someone I know has a room at the host hotel and is willing to let me an my friend Lee stay with them, we'll be somewhere else. The only thing you even need a room for is a shower anyway [why would you sleep at a convention?] so I'm disinclined to get an expensive room. Let them be full. It won't effect me.

It could just be that there are cancellations so that they are technically sold out, but if a person calls at the right time, they might have a room from a recent cancellation.

That's how I got a room for last year's Otakon. When I first called that hotel I was only able to get a room for Friday and Saturday but I really needed one for Thursday too. I called back later and then was able to book from Thurs-Sat. like I wanted because there was a cancellation
