View Full Version : Tetsuo Shima's Arm

Just seeing if anyone had any suggestions as to how to do Tetsuo's mechanical arm from the end of the Akira film. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Hmmm...How much mobility are you wanting with the finished arm? If you're ok with it being immobile, you might want to use some styrofoam glued together and cut to the right dimensions and shape. There would be small bumps and dents on the surface of the foam, but you could put a thin layer of paper mache over that to cover the imperfections, and then cover the whole thing with paint, spray paint, or fabric, depending on what you wanted.
Just be forewarned...don't mess with the foam inside the house or without a mask! I ended up coughing up pieces of it for a week and was finding bits of the crap floating around my room for a long time afterward.
Hope it helps!

Or you can go to the toy section of a wal mart and look to see if there are any mechanical toy arms there, and then decorate it the way you want with foam, paint, yadda yadda

Oh...and has anyone told you you kinda look like David Bowie? No? Maybe it's just me...

Thanks for the advice. I'll prolly go with making a cast of some sort and decorating it that way.
And yeah, I've been told I look like David Bowie, abiet only by one other person. People say I look like Sylvester Stallone in the pic where I'm choking the fanboy.
Hmmm... Interesting idea... use a thin cardboard, paperboard, whatever... like, cones on the fingers, and cylinders, certain places=... then use cloth to link them together... maximum mobility =D
Get what I mean?

Hey, that's a damn good idea! OMG. I've got the idea. I'm prolly gonna draw it out soon.
