Hello all,

Since i haven't seen anything on this i decided to start this thread to see if anyone is planning or has done a cosplay from any one of the blizzard games. Including but not limited too: Warcraft 1, Warcraft 2, Warcraft 3, Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne, World of Warcraft, Diablo, Diablo 2, Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction, Starcraft, and Starcraft: Brood Wars.

I myself have made a pandarian Brewmaster cosplay. I'll be bringing it to otakon this year i hope to see more Blizzard cosplayers.

Well Starcraft and Warcraft were a fair bit inspired by Games Workshop's Warhammer/40k games so it's a bit of a stretch for my current idea. However, I'd love to find a way to go as like... Mannoroth from Warcraft III, or an abomination (though the fatsuit would be rather... hell-like).

Starfighter

Don't forget The Lost Vikings, one of Blizzard's first games. [If I remember correctly]

Pezzle

Or it would be cool to go to a con as a generic warrior and go around saying "The sanctity of this place has been fouled!" in a rough, rugged voice. Or dress up as Angus the Blacksmith and go around telling all sorts of war stories.

...Though I must admit, if somebody went in a full (well done) Diablo costume I'd absolutely drop my jaw.

@Omega Dragon: I like your Pandarian Brewmaster costume. He's always the hero I get when I decide to actually purchase one. Nothing like a raving drunkard to supplement your army :)

It would be awsome to cosplay as the DII LoD Sorceress or as the Priestess from the Night Elves in WCIII

Omega Dragon
06-01-2006, 01:08 AM
Well I totally forgot about The lost Vikings, thx Starfighter. Now that would be kinda amuzing to see three vikings walking around the convention lol.

Well Pezzle your right warhammer was the basis for some of blizzards games. now it would be great to see some chaos marines or the eldar costumes. But I can't wait to see the finished Khorne Berzerker that your working on =).
I can definitly agree with you that Mannoroth would be amazing to see some one do , though it would be like some one doing CatBus but thats a whole nother thing.

Now from wc3:FT if i saw a Spell Breaker from the blood elves(insane detail) or and Infernal (glowing) that would make my year.

The Mer

I've been tempted to make an Orc Warrior cosplay for a while now.

Pezzle
06-01-2006, 01:26 AM
Oh wow, yes, a full Infernal costume wired up with LEDs and whatnot? It would be hot and heavy (much like the Abominations) but quite amazing!

I usually play as the undead but the creatures from that race are usually so malformed that I would have problems creating costumes for them. I mean I just couldnt see myself walking around hunched over like a Ghoul all day -laugh-

I'm gonna go prop myself up and draw some more. Peace yo :D

A friend and I have told ourselves someday we shall cosplay our night elves from WoW :3

I did a Keeper of the Grove centaur from Warcraft 3 for Blizzcon -- it's in my gallery. :D

Omega Dragon

Fireshark your cenaur is quite impressive job well done, i couldn't make it out there for blizzcon. guess i missed a good showing...

Lol pezzle that would be great to see an undead cosplay, perhaps the dreadlords... somewhere i saw some one cosplay an....a....undead peon??...omg i can't remember what the undead worshipers are called....ack can someone help me out here. lol =)

No problemo friend. The undead peons are called Acolytes. Those would probably be not so hard to cosplay at all.. perhaps a wise choice ^^

Mokoni
06-03-2006, 03:47 PM
Alcolytes are probably very easy to do...it'd be hard to be a wisp though ahah...maybe a Night Elf Archer...

Omega Dragon
06-04-2006, 03:20 AM
Yeah trying to cosplay a wisp i would think would be rather difficult. Although it could be done maybe a giant plastic head lights in it....lol.

I have Maiev Shadowsong/Warden from Warcraft III planned for next year. Wont be starting it till I've got ..income...lol need...job....though most my money will be be eaten by my Zelda TP costume. But I do have that costume planned out *nod*

I think i will cosplay a Troll Witchdoctor!

Houdinimachine
06-04-2006, 03:08 PM
This thread just gave me a great idea for how to do a wisp costume.

You could wear a tree costume then use wire to put a beachball shaped glowy blue orb rotating around you. Technically you'd be dressed as a logging wisp, but... same thing. :P

Omega Dragon
06-05-2006, 12:51 PM
Houdinimachine that is a great idea, i never would of thought of that one lol. =)

Pezzle
06-05-2006, 01:00 PM
I was going to say just buy a million LEDs and sequens and make a really bright body suit -laugh- but that would be rather silly.

Omega Dragon
06-09-2006, 12:37 AM
Omg Pezzle I can't stop laughing, although if anyone actually did that they may actually win an award for the most leds on a human body lol.

Sweet SeishinKibou, a Maiev Shadowsong would be an awsome costume though if my memory serves me right that outfit is very detailed. So good luck to that =)

yep, I'm going to be so poor next year -o-; though I have an idea of what I'm doing already. I'm going to be fusing both the character artwork and the in-game model for my costume. [Like her wing blades will be in-game and her cloak will be artwork based] Wont be starting till later this year though so yeh watch out for progress shots through the year *nod* :D

Oh yay I'm glad someone made a thread for this kinda thing. ^_^ I plan on making a generic human mage (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/downloads/wallpapers/wallpaper20.html)costume for Halloween this year, seeing as how I have nowhere else to wear it. Blizzard is an American company, and their costumes would be out of place at Anime conventions. ;-; And there's no possible way for me to get to Blizzcon because I'm on the other fricking side of the country with no monies.

I'm really looking forward to it, actually. I've never sewn together a skirt before, let alone the other little details around it, so it should be a lot of fun... that is... if I get that fricking sewing machine for my birthday this year. :O!

Oooer, sorry for the late reply, but I only just discocovered this thread!

For a very long time I've been planning cosplaying the Assassin from D2:LOD, and the Sorc from D2. - I think they would be a lot of fun to make (and wear! )

I also have my eye on doing a Night Elf cosplay from WoW. Although, not the standard armour that's flashed everywhere, I'd prefer to tackle some in-game armour, just to make it more.. personalised.

Back to D2, I was actually contemplating Crossplaing a Necromancer, however, on closer inspection I realised it would be WAY too hard for me to try and tackle such a thing.

For those who are interested, heres first progress on Maeiv Shadowsong/Warden.
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a206/Weasle_Kibou/warden_cloak1.jpg

It isnt 2 different colours lol its just the flash. It's actually a whole lot darker in person. If you stare at it for too long it goes black! trippy XD. The fabric is double velveteen, which was on sale. Yay for velvet sales! [It still wasnt cheap >_>;;;] Man this thing is like a curtain on me at the moment but I'm fitting it to my size when I get the armour and such done since I might end up builkier by the end of it, which is what I'm hoping hahahah dont want to look like stick Maeiv hahaha But yeh 'alot' of progress to go yet, this is only the beginning.

haha StarCraft would be great for cosplay.

I can see it now: You are in the convention, and as you look back at the entrance, you see half a dozen Zerglings walk in. Pretty darn scary, but I'd love to see it. Or you could do a group of Hydralisks. As a last resort, you could also make Kerrigan(Zerg form).

Again, I say: http://www.thetworivers.com/avatrix/sword/sword.htm

[I would link to the thread I found it in to give credit where it's due but I can't remember where I found it lol.]

I figure the same method could be used for various type of armor and some of the gaudy weapons and mantles in WoW or w/e else game.

There's a couple of WoW cosplays that I want to do now. I doubt I'll do my character in the Scarlet Crusade set, just because it's going to be my default armor in the game when just playing around, or a murloc anytime soon since I'm not that good of a cosplayer yet. Plus I'm afriad it will cost a lot of money to make real/ish armor and a foam rubber suit.

I'm planning on creating night elf druid armour,, howeer I'm stuck between a choice of three, I'm going to use one of the armour sets

If this link works then yey ,,, if not,, the armour sets r on the WoW web site anyway

Don't forget the ever lovable Monk from the Diablo expansion ^.^ Ah, genericness at it's best :P

It would be neat to see people do various monsters or demi-humans from WoW (like those crazy Satyrs).

This thread rocks :P I'd write more, but my brain died looking at the Zergling

Anyone got any links to any really good Succubus Cosplays? I've seen a few but most of them were just girls looking for body attention and they didn't really pay much attention to the details. I wanna see one that looks similiar to the one in WoW right now.

I kinda wonder why you have red fur floating around, but on the other hand I'm scared to ask >.<, a Satyr would be awsome, though i would imagine getting the shape of the legs would be interesting, good luck if u ever do attempt one and I'd luv to see a pic of it :bigtu:

Vessa-Sushi
01-11-2007, 04:45 PM
Bought the fur originaly for Trance Kuja (FF9), and then some of it (shorter fun fur) was used for the making of the pirahna plant head ^^

But yes! I actually have a good tutorial on making the legs for digitgrade creatures, and it's one that allows you to stay flatfooted. It is really neat, and the costume the guy made using the technique looks really good too!

I was looking up Satyrs from WoW, and the only really red one I could find is...Zenn Foulhoof. Kinda got pink buffed skin and such ^^

Reading up on them, it seems they are decendants of...the night elves? There was something about drinking from a certain well that warped them into what they are now..so really, I could make a female Satyr and be alright..except that you don't see them in the game :P

But yes..I have a picture, and I have the fur...all I need now is to lose the boobs and get ripped in my upper body :P

My friend and I cosplayed a night elf and a blood elf at anime expo, and I'm probably going to help someone start on a full bloodfang set soon. The hardest part of being a night elf is finding something good to hold your eyebrows on. We used super glue as a last ditch attempt to get them to stand up right and lost half of our eyebrows at the end of the day D=

Silantre
01-12-2007, 12:55 PM
That sounds kinda painfull,, though I can guess that would be about the only way to pull it off (and i don't mean pulling off litterally),, from the night elf costume in ur pic I can't w8 to see you do the bloodfang set I bet it will be awsome. I was thinking of using a blue/purple version of the bloodfang hood on the wildheart set, not sure how it will look but hey I'm game :)

I thought I'd point this out as we have found it VERY helpful:

Download that and it's cosplay references to the extreme haha.

Soon I think I'm gonna do a Night Elf in the Cryptstalker set and a friend in Wildheart. I love love the Draeneis too and they are tempting cause they are pretty :3

You can tell which side I play on, haha.

SeishinKibou i'm glad that ur warden costume is coming along, can't wait to see it finished.

Leadmill i'm sure that u can make that costume it just will take a while, its a bit detail lol

Vessa-Sushi A satyr eh, that would be something new, hmm your right can't find any female versions, but i'm sure a bit of tweaking and yours will come out looking crazy good. Though if you wanted the buff look get a bunch of those strong man suits lol :bigtu:

Seems alot are going with the WoW versions, well there are alot of combinations out there. I'm still one of these cons going to do an Infernal just don't know which one.

It'd be a lot of fun to make one of my favorite armor sets from World of Warcraft, but I'm not sure when I'd get around to it. I'd like to do one of the rogue pre-expansion armor sets, or maybe Transcendence, but we'll see. ;D

So yes...seriously debating doing the female Satyr...looks like it would be fun. Also looking at some of the other creatures in WoW...I don't get to look at it a lot (I only see it when I am at my friends place, cause he plays the game), so I haven't really gotten the chance to see what other cool looking creatures are in the game.

I could just cruise the WoW wiki I suppose :P

I've recently begun work on a set of the Paladin's "Judgement Armor" from World of Warcraft. While I have plenty of time to finish it (more than a month until SakuraCon in April), I've been having a lot of trouble trying to craft the immense shoulder-armor.

Judgement Concept art (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/underdev/1p9/images/general/ss6.jpg) and Game Implementation (http://www.goblinworkshop.com/gallery/albums/goaq/normal_pally.jpg)

I've got everything ready to be made into final pieces except the shoulders, and want to be sure I can actually make them work. My plan thus far has been to use generous amounts of craft foam, but I'm having issues with keeping it firm and suspended (between the two pieces of shoulder armor on each side).

Would anyone who has worked on this piece before please contact me?

Wow..complicated ^.^

Have you tried making them so they hold on with backpack type straps? Perhaps with a chest belt piece. the straps would all be hidden under the rest of the outfit. Just one idea ^.^

~Vessa

Kadino
02-21-2007, 07:10 PM
I've got the straps (yes, using straps) figured out. They'll attach to the thick-foam chestpiece, and be hidden in the back behind a cape/cloak. Really, there aren't many things that I'm undecided on.

Also, note that there's actually two pairs of shoulder armor, one is a simple pair of pauldrons that lies under the oversized decorative layer. I'm just have issues figuring out how I'm going to form and support them; I don't want the top layer drooping, or coming out the wrong shape.

I figure the best ways are either firmly attaching them together as one unit, or strapping them on as completely independent parts.

I made a seperate topic (http://forums.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=104439), as to not pollute this one.

Leadmill
02-22-2007, 03:47 AM
If you made that Judgment armour it would quite possibly be the most amazing cosplay ever.

Kadino
02-22-2007, 11:40 AM
Hah, that was exactly my reasoning! It's not super-hard, but is very elaborate and will consume a lot of time. Luckily there's a lot of places where I can hide/ignore things, like the lack of back armor (cloak hides), the lack of legplates (skirt hides), and making a mask instead of helm (cowl hides).

I'm pretty sure I can make it work really well if I can just get the shoulders to turn out right.

hey uys I'm going to an expo in may as a night elf (WoW) in the wildheart set of armour - (http://www.worldofwarcraft-alliance.com/fileadmin/images/WOW/Image_Articles/set_d_armure/setwildheart.jpg - except I'll have lon white hair instead) But I was wondering what I could carry round the expo with me to make any picture more interesting,, I've already thought of:

- Map of stormwind (printed on material, so It looks kinda like parchment)
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/downloads/wallpapers/images/stormwind/stormwindmap-800x.jpg

- Amberseal Keeper staff - (which will be used in my masquerade)
http://www.goblinworkshop.com/pics/renders/376-948.jpg
http://images.cosplay.com/photos/10/1045194.jpg

- Also I wanted to possibly carry around a banner that is shaped like this:
http://www.wowwiki.com/images/thumb/4/45/Kul-tiras-flag.jpg/180px-Kul-tiras-flag.jpg

buuut I wasn't sure what picture to put on it,,, I was thinking either the alliance lion (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/7/7f/Warcraft-azeroth-kingdom-flag-perfect.jpg/150px-Warcraft-azeroth-kingdom-flag-perfect.jpg)
or the night elf coat of arms (http://www.fondosescritorio.net/wallpapers/Juegos/Warcraft-3/Warcraft3033wallpapers.jpg)

plz help me decide, and If you have any other ideas I'd be more then happy to listen

(soz for all the pictures)

Have you thought about making a mount? Maybe out of cardboard or even a plushie? Not necessarily life size, but it would be different :P

Or, are you part of a guild? Does your guild have a mascot or a symbol or something? You could put that on a banner (or make one for your Guild).

How about one of the sacks you can buy or make in the game, and put some potions or food or whatnot (you know, that look like they are from the game) and pull them out at random and sit down and do the action you do when you eat or drink ^.^ That could be fun :)

Just a few ideas...tis all :P

Ooooo I think something like a Dreadsteed or one of the tons of dragons would be cool to see! :) And a little pet dragon whelpling plushie!

i agree with Vessa I think some unconventional props might spice up the cosplay. A full size mount might be tough but how about making one of the non-combat pets as a stuffed animal?

I was going to try and get the stable I go to let me just take a picture on one of the horses, trouble is it's impossible to sit on a horse with a skirt - I wonder how those night elves do it,, they must wear shorts underneath the skirt or something :)

I might try to make a tiger mount (full size) but I'd never get it to the con, so I'd probably take pictures at home of it,, if I eer get round to it,,,,, hmmm I think I've sold all my toys from when I was younger,, so I'll have to go out and buy a pet,,,,,,,,

I never thought of the pets. That is also a neat idea ^^ You can even make the cage that shows up in your inventory that holds the pet if you wanted :P

That game has a lot you can work with, especially small items (like ones you craft etc etc). I am also all about the obscure or not done a lot, so that's why I thought of those things first, instead of weapons and armours (though WoW does have some pretty swanky gear ^^)

Seeing pictures of you on a mount would be awesome :P I know you can buy GIANT animal toys at some stores, so you could check that out if you wanted ^^ Thing is..what would you do with it after? ^.^

ah WoW...a group from our club went to the local con recently as a party of Horde: male undead lock, female troll mage, male blood elf hunter, male orc warrior, female blood elf pally. quite fun, too bad we couldn't get the tauren down...lol

anyway, it was a bit of work, but theatrical makeup and airbrushing is DEFINATELY a good choice.

they turned out pretty well, had a bit of trouble with the lock's sleeves...that and the hunter's pet was a plushie domo...lol

Thanks to playing as a warlock in the cosplay.com guild thread located here (http://forums.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=108819) I now have another WoW cosplay I want to do. Since it might be hard for me to pass off as my character, being as it's a sweet looking girl, I thought I might try to get one of my friends to cosplay as her and I would do a voidwalker or a felguard.

I was thinking of making a Blood Elf in a full Bloodfang set, myself... Reference picture. (http://www.wowwiki.com/images/thumb/d/dc/Forsaken_Bloodfang.jpg/250px-Forsaken_Bloodfang.jpg) I'm trying to figure out how to make the shoulders look shiny, but durable. I was thinking wonderflex, but it's textured, and I've read that Syntra isn't, but it's not as easy to bend and mold. Any ideas? Actually, maybe Wonderflex would be fine for a textured leathery look, but I'm not sure because I've never used it before.

Plain Wonderflex has the texture/look of duct tape: a little grid of threads running through it. You can cover it up with layers of gesso, though.

Maybe craft foam? There's a couple (http://amethyst-angel.com/armormaking.html) good (http://entropyhouse.com/penwiper/costumes/helmsdeep.html) tutorials on making awesome foam armor (that won't get destroyed just by wearing it!)

I second this for anyone making a WoW costume! It's even easier than taking your own in-game screenshots, especially for situations when you don't have the full set of armour you want to recreate, or if you want to really zoom in and get clear details without your character going transparent.

~Vessa

I was reading through the thread and I spotted this. I'm currently making a Blood Elf Rogue costume atm for the next Blizzcon (gonna miss this years cause I'm in New York :( ). I'm going with a group from my guild and we've been playing around with the idea of wearing tabards or carrying banners. Another idea was to wear cloaks and have the guild logo on the back, so that they were'nt obscuring too much of the costumes themselves.
I'm also making two plush Imps for my warlock mates and I can't decide whether to make a Netherwelp pet or a Mucky pet for me....so many choices which shall I do?
As for carryings stacks i thought of doing the same thing lol :D. I've made a belt with an 18cm x 18cm bag / pouch which not only can hold everything I need in RL for the day, but I was also thinking of taking some bread and a small flask of water :D There are also slots on the belt to hold minor health potions and poisions which I'm making out of plastic test tubes and coloured water.

My difficulty atm is that i can't seem to find the right wig or long enough ears. Where's the best place to buy wigs? I need it to be just longer than shoulder length, fairly wavy/cury but I need it to be white blonde.....looking at a $60 / 30 budget for the wig....and sugestions?

Vessa-Sushi
06-10-2007, 11:54 AM
Shop around online and off for wigs. Here is the thing though: if you want a really good, quality wig, especially of longer lengths, you will end up paying a lot for it. In the end though, it is usually worth it.

Another idea is to check out party stores and stuff, if you want to go for a lesser quality (but cheaper price wise) wig.

As for ears, check out the cosworx store or cosplaysupplies.com, as those two I know carry those giant elf ears (or last time I looked they did). There is also several other online stores that sell or do comissions for those kinds of ears ^^

cheers :D Coswox have stopped stocking the ears (they're the ones I wanted as they're the ones I had for my Night elf) but I'll looks around at the other place.
As for wigs, it's a better quality wig I'm after as wigs look bad enough on me as it is so the more realistic i can get, hopfully, the better it will look....in theory :P

I'm currently doing a Succubus Costume and going the whole nine yards to make armor for her. I'm using the craft foam technique. For the corset armor however, I have an actual strapless corset type bra that snaps in the back. I am wanting to put foam over it so I can have the same effect for the entire costume.

How would you suggest I fashion on the foam to the corset? Would sewing it work or would that just rip the foam? I hate hot glue cause it only fails if you really need it to keep something together. What would you suggest?

Maomao
06-12-2007, 04:05 AM
It would take ages, but hand sewing it might reduce the risk of rippage. If you wanna give it ago though a machine, you could just make the stitches really long and sew really slowly. Another way (and I know it's alittle odd) but stapleing might work. You can glue ribbon, tape, marerial, piping or whatever you fancy over the top. I've used stapling on leather, but not on foam, so I'm not sure how well it will work, but it's an idea :)

I just figured with Blizzard Con coming it got the old brain turning and I got inspired to think of some way to pay tribute to Blizzard and all of their wonderful games. I am especially interested in a character that showed up in 'WarCraft 3' know as the 'Orcish BladeMaster'.

Hmm you might be able to carve foam and then use something like bondo over it or something else to smooth it out. Youd prob have to attach it somehow closely to your body so it wouldnt be hanging off you back too much.
Id do it either way...I guess it would depend on how much time you want to spend on it. :)

No problem! The links I sent you are know to everyone who has ever been on the Props thread here on cosplay.com. I look forward to your progress. Remember quality above quantity my friend.

As for me I still have a ways to go, which is fine since I am not in a rush, on my Orcish Blade Master. I think I will take the Wonderful Sarcasm-hime's advice and go with a body suit to cut down on having to paint my entire body green. I'll just have to find a way to air brush some muscles on the out side. Kind of sad since I work out, but I really don't feel like scrubbing my entire body every time I wear this costume.

On to finding how to do the face, teeth and hair. Anyone have any suggestion?

Pazuzu: I believe there is one person who has a wicked WoW cosplay on cosplay.com, and I think she said they used spirit gum to keep the eyebrows on. I'd make them out of wig hair or some such fibre, maybe formed with some clear caulking or some type of glue that dries clear. Not too sure on that one. Do a search for WoW type costumes, and see if anyone commented on how they did the eyebrows ^.^

I was thinking of using fimo (since it's bone-like in color and feel), but I'll probably need to go to Michael's first to "weigh" that much clay. My underdress will likely be fitted so hopefully it wouldn't sag too much. I'd like to make all the vertebrae individually so it'll be flexible (to bend over, slouch, twist, etc.)

The only thing I would warn to anyone wanting to do WoW costumes is that you really can't enter them in most Anime costume contests. We didn't really think about that until we were well past finished, and now we have a set of very nice costumes that we wont be able to stick any trophies to!

For those asking about buying the ears...

An easy way to get the big long ears for elves (since just attaching them to your ears usually wont work due to the weight):

You can attach a wire out from a headband and use sculpey to mold the ears out from that. As long as you can find a hairstyle that covers over the base of the ear, to cover the seam, it turns out looking pretty nice.

Unfortunately, we didnt realize until we were well past finished that you really can't enter wow costumes in just about any Anime Convention costume contest :-(

So we have some really nice costumes that we will be unable to attach any awards to. They're still really fun to wear though!!

Depends on the kind of long ears you get.

The latex ones I got from http://www.aradanicostumes.com/elfears.php stay on just fine using regular prosthetic adhesive (like spirit gum).

Thanks for the compliment!

As far as the ears go. The ones you linked look very nice, but are they long enough? The WoW elf ears are grossly overextended, nearing a foot in length.

Though I suppose you can always get away with a little bit of sacrifice in the name of practicality, finding a way to cover the massive seams caused by the headband trick are not always easy to do.

(Note: Im new to this forum, and It seems like every time I attempt to post a reply with a url link in it, the post dissapears. Am I doing something wrong?)

Heres a neat trick that I used for the Troll ears, which would work really well for orc ears too (actually better, since the ears are actually a little too small for wow troll ears)

I cant quite recall the brand name of ears I used, but they are one of the standard common brands (we picked them up off the shelf at our local costume shop) They are basic shaped elf ears, very similar to the ones under heading "F" that Taipa posted. You can take them, and reverse them (put the right one on the left ear etc...) This will make the ears appear to swish back, rather than upward, and have a very orcish look to them.

Out of real leather, Seijin? Quite impressive!

I'm still struggling to make craft foam do what I want, I would never attempt actual leather (except maybe for a cape or something)

I have my fabric, a pattern and some clay... now how the heck am I going to get into this dress when all is said and done? Can't put a zipper in the back (spine), I don't think I can put it on the side (hip bones). Should I try to put it on the front and make it hidden?

KittyCanuck
07-19-2007, 07:42 AM
Can you fit a zipper in above the hip bones, or beside the spine?
How tight is your dress (ie how long does your zipper need to be)?

I forget how you decided to do the spine... what if you made the spine on a small flap, and put the zipper right under the spine? Not sure if it would work with what you're planning, but it would hide the zipper while (possibly) keeping your spine looking normal.

Devi 1313
07-20-2007, 02:26 PM
it won't be super skin tight, but it will be fitted, and long sleeved, if that matters. So the zipper on the side might work?

Thread I GIVE YOU LIFE!!...well mabey. Im planning to do a cosplay as an alliance gryphon master. I may be getting a little in over my head but oh well im gonna try. I plan to of clothes do the armor and stuff but with alot of extras(thus where i need help). For instance i want to have a bunch of like character accesories like i want to have a belt bag and potion viles and a samurai style flag on my back with the alliance, and gyphon masters flags on them. any other accesory ideas are welcome. my main to problem is that i want like a baby gryphon plushie to go with it and the whole character name and stuff over my head, but im not exactly sure how to do either. also does anyone have any art or models of the costume and does anyone have any idea what weapons most of them have, i cant say iv ever fought a gryphon master in the game.

Wow, just came accross this thread.

I myself have been debating going old school and making a cosplay of "The Butcher" from the first Diablo. The hard part is trying to find some kind of body suit to make me all red!

Vessa-Sushi

"Ah, Fresh Meat" oh man, Diablo for the win :P

You could always buy a red bodysuit (try cosplaysupplies.com I believe or search around the net for a store or online store to your liking). You can even buy suits that have the full head part, including the face! Course, how you see out of those, I have no idea, but that's not my problem at the moment :P

I'd love to do a rogue from either D or D2, or even my Necro from D2. Classics are awesome ^.^

If you do end up doing The Butcher, can you promise me you'll do that 'Ah, Fresh Meat' that he does? ^.^

The rogue is a wicked idea....but I've always wanted to do Baal (D2) from his video intro. But I don't have enough friends to carry my fat ass and making his bone collar/headdress thingy would also be a pain.
Sigh.. my broken dreams. At least the sorceress would be easy....but I would have to have an Oculus...obviously...

Thanks for the ideas on how to put it together! The spines he had would be easy to attach to a body suit I think.

Heh, as for the "Ahhhh... Fresh Meat" bit, I have become a bit notorious in my circle of cosplayers for being able to do a perfect rendition of it (and creeping the hell out of everybody when I do so).

Okay, so I found a bra to make the corset work, now I am moving on to the wings. I can't find a good terminal online for demon type wings.

I need to figure out how to put them on without being shoulder strapped since WoW succubus don't have anything on their shoulders. I thought about having them on a stripp up my back and have it wrap around my waist so that the corset covers it up and the other side connecting to the metal choker succubus wear, but I'm afraid of choking myself if I end up having to use heavy material for the wings.

What would you suggest Blizzard Fans?

Well, there is always the clear plastic straps if you needed to attach to the shoulder. Perhaps building it out of chicken wire, some light vinyl or other leathery light material would keep it light too. I would also suggest hitting up the costume and thrift stores now and seeing what kind of feather wings they have and how they attach. If you find a good set you could just pull the feathers out and put on your own material.

Do a search in the Props forum for "wings corset harness" and there's a few good methods for making wings stand up using th corset itself to provide the support. I do not recommend using any sort of strap around your neck to hold weight; it's a bad idea all around.
The corset methods range from just a big loop of wire (the part that joins the wings together) down the back of the corset to using a flag pole bracket.

Although I was wondering if the robe I want to do has a specific name? http://images.orfay.com/i/photos2/2008/01/02/13/0/4/2/0427ebe2695f7968cdc14cb071d423e50_large.jpg Oh, and is her skin color specific to her? Nothing looks right when I try to make a PC for reference but I love that pretty lavender color. I'll probably still do it either way.

I'd really like to make it to Otakon this year even though I live on the West Coast. If I can make it I'd love to join the group!

A tabard is really just two rectangles of fabric with a hole for the neck worn under a belt. I don't see an extra tall tee being a good alternative. I would say just get some fabric, cut it the right size and sew under the edges. It would be super easy. ^-^

When I wore my Blood Elf, there wasn't much of a reaction either way, but the con I wore it to was an expo that included sci-fi and gaming, so that may not be typical. Still, I don't think anyone would give you any grief about it.

Last year they didn't really announce it until pretty close to the time of the con, but still...I'm hopeful, but I'm feeling like it's not gonna happen unless they have something to announce or release. I mean the first one was for Burning Crusade, and then last years was to announce Wrath of the Lich King and to demo Starcraft II in the US, so unless they are planning on releasing either of those...or coming out with World of Diablo...I'm crossing my fingers, but not holding my breath.

and I'm planning to clean it up and add all the details I couldn't get last year. I'm also planning on making my girlfriend Sara Kerrigann's human ghost armor :D

I know I am so hyper with excitement, but looks like we will have to wait a while for the final game.

I'm partial to the Barbarian. I have played other character classes in Diablo, but rocking the Barbarian through the world is just to much fun for me. I defeated Diablo in Diablo 2 with my Barbarian and the concept art they have for him this time around is just to much to ignore. I will have to wait and see what other character classes they reveal in the days to come. Maybe after Comic Con they will show us one more. One can only hope.

That would be great if they revealed more. I'd really like to do a cosplay from Diablo III for next year. It's so exciting that they have male/female for each class this time around! My husband was all about the Barbarian also :). I was partial to the Amazon, but I didn't play as much. It was hard for me to get into the graphics of old (I played it like 10 years later). I'm looking forward to being able to appreciate the series more with the new release.

BlizzCon Goody Bag Sneak Preview

"For everyone contemplating a trip to this year's BlizzCon (October 10-11 in Anaheim, California), we'd like to give you a glimpse of just a few items you might find in your goody bag when you arrive at the show.

If you've ever been on the verge of finishing off a paladin, only to be foiled at the last second, you'll appreciate the 16 inflatable divine shield ball, complete with a paladin inside in the midst of hearthing away. Half of the goody bags handed out will contain the bubble-hearth ball, while the other half will have...

Frostmourne. The very name of Arthas's runeblade strikes terror into hearts across Azeroth. Now it comes to you in a more convenient package, and you don't even have to travel to Icecrown Glacier to get it. As you go about your daily activities, whether they be raising legions of the undead or just brooding on your throne, carrying this 48 inflatable Frostmourne will grant you an extra touch of sinister majesty.

That's just the beginning, though, as both the goody bags and the on-site store will be stuffed with sample products from our licensed partners and plenty more fun and unique Blizzard-themed trinkets, such as Diablo health and mana stress balls, pandaren brewmaster bottle openers, zerg creep, and much more.

And of course, a new BlizzCon brings with it a lovable murloc to welcome into your heart--but murlocs don't always come alone. This one has developed a taste for speed, and sits astride an exclusive polar bear mount, waving a BlizzCon flag. It's the perfect way to cruise Northrend in style.

BlizzCon features an array of contests, tournaments, discussion panels, hands-on playtime, and other events, not to mention plenty more treasures waiting to be unearthed from the goody bag, so make your plans now before tickets go on sale August 11."

Not sure if I will... the major problem with it is it's mostly make-up, plus I plan to replace the shirt for body make-up for a more realistic look eventually and THAT would be a bigger pain! Though I may bring it to Anime North one day.

They do have contacts out there that cover the pupil, it just really freaky because you would see everything tinted green (or depending on the lenses, you might not be able to see at all). I've seen green ones advertised, but honestly, they just look like and ugly yellow. I've been looking for some as well and I can tell you if they are out there, they are really hard to find. :(

Hey guys... I've been wanting to do a Terran Medic cosplay for a really long time, and I'm so excited by Starcraft 2 coming out soon, so I bought a few styrofoam sheets (as well as some 4 bottles of fast-cure Gorilla glue, of which I've used 2 already) and started working on it on the weekends last month. I've been using a graphic of the new Terran Marine in Starcraft 2 as a model to work from, as I would rather it look like the SC2 Medics, even though they have been taken out of the game. Oh well... They're still the only female units in Starcraft, even if they're only available in custom maps.

I can take harsh criticism - I'm a gal who's a bit on the large side, and if you think what I've made is not that good or just wouldn't look good on me, I should stop wasting any more time on it. My intent was to make it a little more bulky so it sort of hides my weight. What do you think? I'm fairly happy with the overall design itself, but if you have any suggestions for small or minor modifications, I'd appreciate it. So far, I have 1 lower leg 40% finished, 1 lower leg 85% finished, and the torso is about 75% finished.

The boot looks really good. The Terran armor is really bulky, so everyone will look huge in it. I imagine that people who like Starcraft will be thrilled to see a Medic, and the other six people in the world who didn't play Starcraft will be impressed by a huge suit of armor. I say go for it!

P.S. What's this about Medics being the only female units and only available in custom games? Is this just in Starcraft 2? I'm sure it's not the case in the original.

Although I'm making a targ (in siggy) I plan to get him some armour later so he can double as Agam'ar ( http://petopia.brashendeavors.net/html/mobs/mob_agamar.php ) or as a hunter's tamed boar pet. Might make for a neat skit at the next Blizzcon.

Or the other option is to add spikes and turn him into a helboar or a felboar.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. While there is technically Kerrigan and Nova, a female ghost from Starcraft: Ghost (which never made it to shelves, as far as I know), I really don't have the body for that anyway. I'm pretty sure all the ghosts in the original SC were male, but I haven no idea if they will make any ghosts in SC2 female. I would hope that they'd keep at least one unit in the game female, but I don't think I'll hold my breath. Under all that foam though, it might not matter too much if I paint it red and white, or if I paint it red and black with a big honkin' gun instead. :)

I've done some more work on the costume... The torso is now around 90% complete, and the 2nd lower leg is now about 65% complete. All that's left is to cut it to size, add the knee cover, and glue on the sole of the foot. Is there anything any of you think I should add or change before I move on to the upper leg armor?

Got tickets to blizzcon in the first wave of the lottery, I was way bummed when I epic failed at getting them on the initial sale, Sorry to all of you who want to go that can't :(

any who, I've decided that since I'm going I may as well have fun and what better way to do that then to cosplay. I've started working on my costume, Troll priest, in Frozen Shadow Weave, with Destruction Holo Goggles. I'm hoping to be able to make a staff of infinite mysteries, though I'm worried about how to get it down to the con as I'm flying.

Just thought I'd say hi as I've been anonymously trolling these forums for a few days.

:) I started making it a few weeks ago now, finally feel like im getting some where. There's lots of design on the robe itself and i had planned on making it all tube (another layer sewn on top) and filling it with poly stuffing. I started the design on the sleeves this evening and I want to shoot myself. 3 hours later and I'm maybe 1/3 of the way done. I think I'll just have to give up on the 3d portion of the design and just leave it flat (gotta finished the sleeves though or it would look funny

Prolly doesn't help that I've nvr made an article of clothing before. lol and I'm modifying the pattern i have. ah well breaks over, back to cut, sew, stuff, cut, sew, stuff......

Edit: oh yeah, i'll try to get some pics up when i get a chance just a modified duster w/o sleeves atm.

and another 3 hours gone by. I'm getting much better at shoving polyfil in to the tubes. Oh and I added pics to my costume thing here (only one sleeve pictured but they are both to the same point). The thickness of the tubes is taking up more cloth than i had anticipated, I intended for the sleeves to be a bit large but theyre actaully gonna be a tad tight it seems. I might try to add a strip of cloth to loosen up a bit.

Feeling much better about my progress as I like the way its turning out.

Talk to strangers

Go ahead and say hi to people you don't know, because at BlizzCon we're all part of a big happy family - as long as they're not from the opposite faction, that is. Odds are that the person standing next to you in line has the shared experience of playing World of Warcraft, and thus you will have a lot to talk about right off the bat.

Okay first off thanks for anybody who can help us.

We've tried searching around and really havent found all that much available.

Were going to a halloween party and i was looking for something sexy for her to wear and whats more sexier than a blood elf right:)

Im looking for a costume i can just buy, or hints as to an outfit that can be easily manipulated into what were looking for.

Ive got the ears, make-up, shoes, and neon green contacts.

Now i need the outfit.

Heres a couple of links for what kind of outfit were shooting for.

Also this is just something we found that may be easily manipulated into what were looking for. But its rather on the expensive side for what you get.

I also know its kind of short notice for this and we might be pressed for time on certain options. We had the idea of maybe trying to find a local dress shop and taking one of these pictures to them to see if they can throw something together>? But im not sure how much that would cost or if there would be enough time for that either.

Once again thank you very much for any help that is provided. :)

That is what I could find. Never let it be said that a Ghost doesn't do his/her job. Sad part is there are more shots of Nova than their are of male ghosts. I guess all the male ghosts are shy. :P

To late for Blizz Con this year as it is a day or so away. However, there is still time for some one to make this for other cons and evens. Star Craft is under represented anyway and needs some love from some costumers/cosplayers out there. HURM.
