View Full Version : How does being the Masquerade work?

What's it like to be in the Masquerade? Has anyone been in it? Was it confusing to know who to give a tape to... when to go on... etc?
I know it's mad crazy early... but my friend and I are thinking about it... depending on how well our costumes turn out... :)
So if there's anyone who's like to share their CNAnime Masquerade experience, I'm all ears!

it's pretty simple, when you register for it you fill out a form and give them the tape/cd with the form. It's really fun, but alot of waiting and such. There are a certain amount of entrants aloud in the masq so you have to get in the line to resister really early.

Is there a time limit for the CN Masquerade? I can't remember.

Presentations are limited to 45 secords for one to four persons, and 60 seconds for five or more persons. Groups are restricted to 12 participates at a time for any one presentation. Entries exceeding the time limits may lose points on judging.

thats what it says on the website, to read more about the masq go to www.hobbystar.com thats where all the info about CN is.

Masquerades are a blast!! For me it's the climax of any convention (at least from the POV of a costumer.. ahahhahaha).

Hmmm... a few things I'd point out.

Don't talk on stage, no one can hear you (though I don't really see this happen that much anymore)

Try to stay within the time constraints or it could hurt your group (and cause you a presentation award).

Make sure you have a costume that is made by you and not a collection of clothes you got off the street. Since the masq. is capped now there is nothing worse then spending hours making your costume, and having someone in jeans and a t-shirt take the last spot from you.

I also highly suggest all those who are new to masquerades to enter workmanship judging. It's not only for master level costumes, the judges will look at your costumes from the viewpoint of the level you are entering it at.

But most importantly... Have lots and lots of fun!!!

Hi Everyone,

As a general rule of thumb, please keep your presentations to a minute or less. Because this is a very large masquerade we cannot have presentations over a minute long. Sorry.

We are only accepting music and sound on CD this year. Please test your sound on several players, including a traditional CD player before submitting it to us to make sure it works. Also don't forget to make a back up copy.

PLEASE LABEL YOUR CD'S CLEARLY WITH YOUR ENTRY TITLE, and your name. (both the CD and the case itself)

If you have been to Anime North you will be familiar with the general check in proceedures. Sign ups will be Saturday Morning. Times are not posted and are dependant on the expo times.

This is a muli genre expo so don't forget this is a great time to pull out all the non anime costumes you may have been wanting to wear or create. ALL genres including original creations are welcome at this show.

Nice I cant wait to be on stage. Although I am nervous in front of an audience. As I said on MSN I'll probably be hiding behind someone lol. Naruto hides behind Kakashi :P My friends brother is going to be Kakashi. :)
