For those who play World of Warcraft (Or have seen) you know what I'm talking about. =]

http://img66.imageshack.us/img66/1964/screenshotwj8.jpg

I need advice on what kind of makeup to use to paint my skin a light purple. Can anyone recommend something to me and tell me where to get it?

I also need help on the ears.Should I buy them or is there a way to make them?

Oh man, forgot to add this. For the eyebrows, I was thinking of using feathers, cutting them to look good, but would that really work?Is there another way to make them?

Thanks for taking the time to read this. =3

As for making your self total purple I would recomend the Krylon stuff the sell in the cosworks shop(any good costume shoop should have it too.) Along with a makeup sealer.
The ears well if you can buy them I would opt for that if you; aren't sure on making them right/crunched for time/not haveing major buget issues. Making them might be intresting I would think a plastic would do what you want(I'm thinking wonderflex) and then use a bit of spirit gum to place them on your head.
The feathers could look really good and the only way to know for sure is to go and buy a few and try it. I would recomend covering your own eyebrows and then useing eyelash glue/spirirt gum to hold them on.

Good luck with yoru costume I'm sute it will look really good. =^.^=

Okay, I've gone through stuff like this before, so I know alot of the stuff you'd need, and where to get them.

1. Skin tones- You can either get a spandex outfit thing, which covers your entire body (elastic suit example (http://cgi.ebay.com/ycra-spandex-silver-blue-zentai-catsuit-UNISEX_W0QQitemZ120013881635QQihZ002QQcategoryZ484 4QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)). OR, your other option, is to get this stuff called liquid latex, which looks a lot more like it is your skin, and feels like it too, since once you paint it on, it sticks there, and moves with your skin (example of liquid latex (http://www.inrubber.com/ProductDetail.asp?ProdID=41&nPrdImageID=&CatID=5)). Sorry I couldn't get better pictures of the liquid latex. It's hard to find good ones of them.

2. Ears- I HAVE THE ABSOLUTE PERFECT EARS FOR YOU: Anime Character Ears (http://www.costumesandprops.com/graphics/Elf%20Ear%20-%208%20inch300x250wcr.jpg)

for more details of those ears, go to http://www.costumesandprops.com/specialeffects.htm , and scroll down until you see that picture. To purchase them, you will have to E-mail or call that company, however, I only have only had successful communication with them when calling.

I hope this was helpful! ^_^
If you want more information on the liquid latex or anything like that, (cuz there is some more stuff you should know about it before you use it, I just didn't wanna make you read about stuff you may not use anyways) just PM me.

As for the eyebrows, I don't know what to tell ya.

GOOD LUCK!!!! ^_^

rawr, I had a giant, long, nice post all detailed and stuff, but it screwed up when I tried to post it, so here's a short mean one.

Skin- you have two options. Either:

A. Spandex suit (http://bodyweaver.com/pics/gallery/ours43/DSC00381.jpg)

or, B. Liquid Latex (http://www.inrubber.com/ProductDetail.asp?ProdID=41&nPrdImageID=&CatID=5)

Ears: http://www.costumesandprops.com/graphics/Elf%20Ear%20-%208%20inch300x250wcr.jpg

http://www.costumesandprops.com/graphics/Elf%20Ear%20-%208%20inch300x250wcr.jpg (<---scroll down near the bottom.)

If you want more info on any of these products (cuz there IS some stuff you should know about them before use. Especially the Liquid Latex.) just PM me.

and don't worry, I'm not so mean in person, I'm just mad at my compy.*slams it into the desk*

I think I'm going to go with body paint.Does anybody know a good brand?I know there's cosworxs here, but I just want to get a good idea of all the other kinds out there.

Any suggestions?

I've heard cosplayers swear by Ben-Nye face-paint.

I wanna cosplay my night elf someday and was gonna get the bodypaint Cosworx sells. I've heard better things about that than Ben-Nye.

Eyebrows: I think I've seen people use feathers and that looks fine! Just cut to shape and you can dye them with RIT dye! OR I thought foamies wouldn't look so bad if you cut then real fine and kinda feathered like and painted them nice. Spirit gum to face?

Ears: I was gonna just sculpt them and attach them to a headband to wear under a wig.

Go here for ears:

http://www.aradanicostumes.com/elfears.php

They are cheaper than the other ears that were posted AND you can paint them with paint that is cited on the webpage. They also have ears that are pre-tinted in flesh tones.

OR

If you want to try to make ears of your own, I found a page on making gelatin ears like they did for the LOTR movies:
http://www.alleycatscratch.com/lotr/Article/Ears.htm

Gelatin ears are time consuming to make, so be warned about that.

I would go with body paint. I think the best thing to do is if you have a theater/Halloween store near you, go in and ask the people working there what you should use for the weather and body parts you plan to paint.
http://stageandtheatermakeup.com/ is one place to go to if you do not have a store near you. Call or e-mail if you are unsure what you need to keep your make up on and not melting if you sweat or keep from rubbing off.

I also was going to make a Night Elf costume and thought the same thing about the eyebrows out of feathers. You will need to cover you eyebrows then glue the feathers in place as stated in the other posts.
Something like this stuff:
http://www.mallatts.com/$spindb.query.listallshop2.mallatts.201.Eyebrow~20 Plastic~20and~20Sealer.5
OR
There is a putty that is skin colored that you can put over your eyebrows, no glue involved. It's used to make scars and other raised parts of the skin. You can color it over with the paint that you will use for the rest of your skin.

As for Night Elf eyes, don't get the contacts that you need. I already looked up contacts that make ALL of your eye white and you WILL NOT be able to see out of them. They are also $300+ for one pair. They also need to be fitted by a Doctor which will make it that much more money. I found the white contacts that leave your pupil black are much cheaper, but still need to be fitted my a Doctor. I do believe those can come with a perscription on them also.

If you want to make a costume out of light leather that can be sewn on a machine, go to: www.tandyleather.com You can get 10sq feet of suede for around $25. They also have leather sewing machine needles (item # 11194-00) and a sewing with leather book (item#61945-00). They also sell sheild and armor leather by the pound.

I hope that this helps!

I stumbled across this post while looking for poison elves ears. I love the ears mentioned here. I need them about 12-14 inches. That link to that company doesnt work. Did anyone here manage to buy or make them?

For the eye brows try Kormerant feathers. I find them at JoAnns near all the feather boas. the are long, thin, and mildly irradecent so all you would need to do is cut them to length.

Do a search in the "Other Costumes" section - there's a nice long current thread about WoW costumes.

This is where most people get their ears these days:
http://www.aradanicostumes.com/elfears.php

Though the link to http://www.costumesandprops.com is working for me now, which is odd since it hasn't worked in about a year. They have a minimum order of $100, though.

the Anime ears they have on there only cost $75.00, and we bought those alone, so I don't think the $100.00 rule is true in all cases. So.... yeah. :)

That's good to know!

Has anyone outside the USA purchased from them? I know they don't ship internationally, but does anyone know if they'll let me place an order if I have it shipped to a friend in the States (who can then ship to me in Canada)?

I sent them an email asking, but I'm interested in other experiences as well. ^_^

first offf please please please try to avoid ben nye its stage makeup and oil based and any prolonged exposure to it will ruin your skin seriously ive seen actor use it for about 3 hours a day 3 days a out of the week and by teh second weekend of production they start breaking out really badly and if u plan on wearing it all day long the results wont be good... u might want to check out MAC though i heard they werent too bad and if u have seen "Wicked" the green body makeup that they used for elphaba is from MAC....mineral makeups are the best though but if u absoluetly must go for ben nye cus even though it has negative sideeffects it is the best....

I might be able to use those ears for my Poison Elves costume

http://www.pitt.za.org/images/tattoo/pe-jml.jpg

This costumes ears are different though, they curve forward, not back like the ones you posted..I wonder if I can flip them around though and use the left ear on the right ear, so they curve the opposite way.

Id like to try to make my own, but not sure how I would get them to stand up, the ears are very long.

I don't know if it still matters to you anymore, since this is 3 years later practically xD (almost 4)

But I cosplay a Blood Elf and I went out to buy feathers, and they work just fine. :3 I bought normal paint for them (to match my blonde hair color) and waited for them to dry, and just glued them onto my eyebrows. No biggy.

However the problem I've encountered is that the eyebrows fall off if you sweat a bit with your bangs nudging the feathers with each step you take. =___= Being that I live in the desert of the United States (Arizona) I did sweat a bit. :sunburn:

For the ears, just buy them off of eBay since Blizzard released their own line for Belves and Nelfes. c:
