Isn't there any interaction in here besides saying that we're korean? Anyways, I'd like to say DarkMoon Kiadara, I love your sugintou cosplay.

...I'm not sure. ^^;
Whenever I come in here, it's usually quiet.

There's a "cosplay from korean shows" thread in the "other" section. :3

I guess it's because not a lot of Korean (from Korea-land) come here to cos.com to post. They probably use cy-world or minihompy or whatever happens to be "in" at the moment. ^^;;

Ceres86
12-15-2007, 05:44 PM
@Raenef: Yeah I come in here once in a blue moon to see if anything has changed. I guess there's not alot of Koreans who cosplay in general. I've been checking korean cosplay sites on daum and cyworld but since it's so much of a closeted hobby there that there's not much to see.

Where are you located Raenef? Maybe we could meet up? I'm starting to travel different states for conventions.

Raenef
12-21-2007, 10:24 PM
Considering how commercialized Korean culture is (that is, "brand is GOD!" mentality), I'm not surprised to see a lack of ubergeekness or even the over-geeknesss that is cosplay. Those unwanted behaviors are corrected early. XD Though on the other hand, it's funny since DIY is (was?) so big over there...

I'm in the Baltimore/DC/Viriginia area and so go to Katsucon and Otakon. I might go to smaller ones in the area too. Hope to see you around! I still can't go far for cons... ^^;;

Y'know, I applied for a job in Houston... but got rejected. (It was for HP so maybe I was out of my league. ^^;; )

Ceres86
12-22-2007, 02:28 AM
Ah I know what you mean. It's a love/hate thing with Korea that I have haha. I was THIS close to going to Otakon but decided to cancel out cause a friend of mine didn't want to go (and i never go anywhere without him). I'm going to A-kon and AWA this upcoming year... Anyone going perchance?

Raenef
12-26-2007, 03:44 PM
Ah yes, I too have the love-hate relationship with Korea. I have a lot of pride in our past but am a little disappointed in our people. ^^;;

I might go to AWA. I was thinking about it but it really depends on my work schedule and how much money I have... ^^;;

I do see random people wearing hanboks when I go to otakon...

Ceres86
12-26-2007, 04:24 PM
People wearing Hanboks really?? I've been wanting to make a Hwang jini style one for ages.

Not all people but a good amount of them are stubborn, prideful, and materialistic. But I do love my country and the rich culture that we have. I have a certain love for sageuk (historical) dramas.

envirion
01-17-2008, 09:02 AM
Sorry for my late reply... anyway, I do too! I also like the shows that show you random stuff. XD And the sitcom Kimchi Cheese Smile is growing on me.

How'd you like Four Gods? (Tae Wang Sa Shin Gi) I found it a little wierd...

I think I like Yi San better...

Ceres86
01-17-2008, 03:50 PM
I've heard of it but honestly I haven't been keeping track of the sitcoms and dramas that they are churning out. Isnt that the one where bae yong joon acts in? My favorite drama of all time would have to be "Nae eereum eun Kim Sam Soon" XD Heelarious!

@Ceres86: Yeah, I know how you feel. There's always something new out of Korea. >.>;;

I recommend Hong Gil Dong, though. It has fusion of modern and historical and is quite amusing. (Aimed at the younger crowd. ^_~ ) Seriously thinking about cosplaying the main girl from that show. :3

Oh, new people! Hi~ ! Stay and chat (about cosplay).

Welcome M.J.Luna.
As you can see there is little to no activity here in the Korean cosplay section.
I don't see alot of K/J mix. Maybe Miyavi and Yuna Ito...

@envirion... did you make a new ID? I've had this ID for ages now, I'm thinking of giving myself a fresh start with a new ID as well. Some people know who I am now in the cosplay community.. I would rather be anonymous though :/

Does ANYONE in this thread actually cosplay? There are lots of new people and bystanders. Anyone know of good Korean cosplay webpages? besides cosplay.co.kr

envirion
02-02-2008, 07:55 PM
Yeah, I made a new ID... 'cause my ID is usually envirion. ^^;; Thought I might streamline things by making the name right.

^^;; I used to know a couple of korean cosplay sites but they're on my old computer which needed to be wiped cause a virus got on it. ^^;; boo...

i was reading comments on hanboks~ i would love to actually see some at any con/expo
and maybe wear one also. ^__^ ㅋㅋhavent worn one since i was like 10 years old.
i was looking through a korean vogue magazine (or at least i think it was vogue) and there were some shots of models wearing very beautifully detailed hanboks. i thought they were just modernized hanboks but my mom mentioned that they were korean shaman clothing style? i'm not familiar with the difference but still looked pretty.

@change: Shamans usually have ridiculously ornate hanboks because the spirits are usually princes and princesses (or otherwise up there on the noble scale) and the spirits demand it. DX
I love hanboks. x3 I wish I could wear them everyday!

@Forgotten: ehh... I think it went a little down hill as it lost it's funness and went into the realm of korean drama drama. ^^;; but the ending was great! Iljimae just started a little while ago and is along the same lines but attempts to be more fancy dramatic... (If you have a torrent client, you can get them from www.d-addicts.com ;D)

@Jualkyn: hiya! do you make or buy your cosplay? how's it going?

Seriously, anime in general is not all Japanese.

I remember there was this one convention that played alot of Korean artists like Epik High.

I'll so help you witht hat if you make one =]

Ceres86
06-14-2008, 10:53 AM
@Forgotten- Well sure I agree with you...but the general public associates anime as a product of Japanese for the most part.

what do you mean they played alot of K-artists? Like people carrying boomboxes that play that or AMVs with Koreans songs... If ever there was a convention that brought over the actual artists to do a concert... I'll be there lol.

You know the Hanbok doesn't seem all that hard to make provided you follow simple pattern instructions but whenever I look at the Hanbok pattern from Butterick or something it looks strange and unflattering. Shouldnt there be a pattern from Korea that tailors go by? You know, the ones you see in sageuk dramas and movies.... Now those are a piece of art!

Forgotten
06-14-2008, 02:43 PM
@Ceres: Basically at the dances and other parties withnin the conventions plus some other special events, they played some Korean songs.

But no the actual artists weren't there, but if they were, that'd be epik =]

Also, yeah!, We need to revolutionize anime for the society to make it worldwide instead of just Japan!

LOL... well given the price of a ticket to Korean and the jobless/hopeless rate in the US these days, i'm not surprised. I think I have a better job here in Seoul than in San Francisco, at any rate.

My mom is totally fine with it, she says it's good for everyone to have a stress reliever somewhere lol
I'm totally fine with being a child but my aunt keeps reminding/saying "you're an adult now! grow up!" etc etc on me playing games, reading comics, wanting/going to cons and all that @_@
and it would be best NOT to show her pictures of cosplayers on the site, she'd most likely not see the point and just insult everyone TTATT
