Higuri You's Seimaden is becoming one of my favorite Manga, after a friend telling me to check it out and sending me a few images. I'm very in love with the art and addicted to the story, and slowly trying to decide if I want to cosplay ( as much as he annoys me , but I love him anyways..^^; ) Teteirus...still considering it..not sure him, but I would love to cosplay someone from it. So anyways, I was just wondering how many of you have heard about it read about or something. Oh, and do any of you know where to get the Manga for my own possesion? I've had to borrow it from my friend, and she's bugging for it back ( ><;; )

Goodness. ^^; You posted this in the anime forum and I thought they were making a Seimanden animation. *_*;;
Sorry can't help you. ^^;; I've heard about it and read the first chapter, though.

Same here. So I moved it to manga chat. =)
> slowly trying to decide if I want to cosplay ( as much as he annoys me , but I love him anyways..^^; ) Teteirus...
I really like Tetei! He's so pretty! Although his outfits are generally more on the boring side compared to a lot of the other characters...
Sadly, being the tallest of my cosplay group, I ended up as Laures. *laughs* That and I imagined all the people asking me why my Rosiel costume suddenly had two wings.
But it would be great to see more Seimaden cosplay.
> So anyways, I was just wondering how many of you have heard about it read about or something.
I've read most of it, minus the last two books, but I already spoiled myself somewhat. (too curious for my own good)
> Oh, and do any of you know where to get the Manga for my own possesion?
I got mine at Mandarake. (used) You can find them at all the cons I've been to, and probably on a lot of online stores. Try googling for it.

I bought the manga years ago in China, then ordered all 10 volumes in Japanese... my God my obsession with Higuri began at least 5 - 6 years ago *feels old*. Since then Higuri-sensei's style has evolved drastically and she's done numerous very cool manga series, all involving beautiful bishounen. Two very good titles are Zeus and Lugwig II. In Germany Seimaden is a known and loved series thanks to heaaavy advertising by a Magazine I was part of, and it seems like it's becoming very popular in the US as well. I think for the general public it's still rather unheard of, but anything is possible so if you want to cosplay from it - go for it!!
I once saw a picture of Rauresu and Tetei in anime style but believe that it's only a Fanart, so no anime in the making yet that I know of.
But there is a Drama CD revolving around Rauresu's transformation from a human prince into the Demon he is throught the Seimaden series. His predecessor Marion is voiced by no other than Hikaru Midorikawa (I was lucky to get him to sign my CD at Otakon *dies from happiness*), and he even sings a couple of songs on the CD!
There is also an artbook out by Higuri-sensei, called Poinson, and I've seen it at cons galore this past year.
Gosh I could go on and on about this artist *blushes*...
To get some AWESOME cosplay ideas, check out Rosiel's and Die-chan's costumes!!!

Ooh~ Yaya, you reminded me! A friend of mine was a big Higuri fan, and I got to read some of Ludwig II.. I'd love to get a copy of it. *_* It was lovely..

I ordered mine in Germany in a Jap. bookstore and it took a few weeks to get there. I'm sure that if you found the right store, you could get your hands on them as well. You'd just need the ISBN numbers. Let me know if you need help finding them. :3

Hey, Yaya, I'm always up for good manga, even if *cringe* I can't read Japanese. so if you think the art is really good, (ie good enough to warrant a buy regardless of me understanding the dialogue) shoot me an email or something, cause I'll go by kinokuniya (sp?) and order them. Alichino, which I got mainly due to your recommendation, was DEFINITELY worth the buy.
(and luckily now I'm finding online translations so I can understand the story.)

Gosh what can I say, I've been in love with Seimaden since the first time I spotted Rauresu's cute floppy ears *grins*...
Definitely get it if you're up to some eye candy + interesting fantasy story. Her men are just... YUMMM!
Higuri's style changes a lot during the volumes so it's quite interesting to see where she's heading. I honestly enjoyed the style the most during the 5th and 6th volumes.. it seems like as she became more popular and forced to produce more art faster, her style became more and more simple and angular. But still, I highly recommend it *_*

lol, I think you've sold me then, my next manga I order will be that then, I think! How many volumes are there? and do you have an ISBN? helps when ordering from that store, sometimes they have a problem finding titles. ^_____^

I couldn't find the thread, now I know why ^^;;; *lol* Sorry about the wrong fourm..
Rosiel > I really like Tetei! He's so pretty! Although his outfits are generally more on the boring side compared to a lot of the other characters...

Lol ^^; , Well im not pretty, but I love him anyways so..ha ^_^ No but really, oh do you mind if I ask how tall you are? Just wondering, I'm 5'6" myself... I'd cosplay Laures becuase, I mean I've got a thing for the ears *_*, but you made a wonderful Laures and I'll leave that alone ( *sing can't touch that * ) .
Yaya : Two very good titles are Zeus and Lugwig II.
Oh yes, I've been looking up on those as well, starting to fall for a lot of her work!
Hmm, I'm still not sure what ..er rather who ( backspace wont work!o-o;; ) I want to cosplay from said manga. *wanders off to think*
03-25-2003, 03:53 PM
CUTLASS. YES. I've read some of that, too. Ludwig II appealed to me a bit more, though. Argh I need to get to Kinokuniya and see if they have any, or just try and order it.. @_x;

> oh do you mind if I ask how tall you are?
Just shy of 5'7" but my friend are all shorter... *laughs* what are the odds of that? But on (borrowed) 5 1/2 inch heels I managed to be rather tall.
> but you made a wonderful Laures
Thank you. ^__^ I do need to take better pictures... all the ones I have are after spending a few hours dying in the costume and stressing about the cosplay. And none really show the sequined ears.
As for "Cutlass"... I did not know about this one! I have to find it, especially since I am on a swashbuckling kick at the moment!

Rosiel, I have not had chance yet to tell you how much I appreciate you bringing one of my fav. characters to life. I think I forgot to breath when I saw the first picture of you as Rauresu/Laures (funny that in Germany we all called him Laures, but on the Drama CD he was Rauresu... I'm pleasantly surprised you call him Laures as well ^^). You, Die-chan and Katan looked *amazing* and I am SO SO happy that you guys did that group. Please do take more pictures, I'm dying to see more. Of all the wonderful costumes you've made, I selfishly proclaim this one as my favorite :3... so thank you a lot.
Oh, and do check out Cutlass please *hint hint* ^_-

agh too many sexy mens comics to choose from, what should I get first, Cutlass, Seimaden or Ludwig?
I have to agree with Yaya about those costumes though, Rosiel. but then I thought they were lovely even without being familiar with the characters!
03-26-2003, 12:49 PM
I'd start out with Seimaden and move onto Ludwig if you want something even more decadent and dramatic ^_-. I LOVE the character of Ludwig, he's such an brat, heehee.
03-26-2003, 02:30 PM
It's also very interesting that they based Ludwig II off an actual person. I often wonder whether the manga somehow tells of the real King Ludwig II's secrets.

I feel like such a fangirl.. posting so much pertaining to Higuri ^^;;;
She is and has been very interested in European History, especially Germany. Laures was a German Prince before becoming a demon *grins*...
Ludwig indeed was accused of having an affair with his servant/friend and there are even love letters floating around from back in his days (not sure if I believe them though). It was pretty much said that he was at least bi-sexual. I think Higuri was intrigued by him and explored that possibility in her manga.

I don't blame you. Higuri's a great artist! Her art reminds me of Kouyu Shurei's, that's why I love them both.
I thought he was obsessed with Wagner or his works rather. We toured his little castle in Bavaria before and I thought he was just heartbroken over the marriage of Sissy. Had I only known what could have transpired in his bedroom. XD
