Does anyone know how you would construct wings like these?:

I don't really need to make anything that fancy, but I don't know how to start going about it.
They seem to be formed with wire, but I don't understand how the "mesh" is attached to the wire. Also, what type of material would you use for the "mesh"?

I also don't understand how you would attach the wings to your back.

lillyxandra and her sister take care of www.firefly-path.com and they used to be on the msgboards, not sure where they've been. You should try pming her and asking for some tips.

Having helped Meg make a few pairs and watching her many times at work, I can tell you that it's simply wire with fabric over it :) You can either glue or sew the fabric down, and you have an infinite amount of different types to choose from. As for attaching the wings, you can strap them on or tie them on with ribbons, just make sure the wire frame is sturdy.
Let your imagination loose and go for it. I ADORE the fire-fly path wings as well and especially their crisp edging and beautiful photography. I'm sure that both girls would be happy to help out.

Where does everyone get their wire and what gauge do you use? Everytime I go to Home Depot or Lowes they can't find it. Any suggestions?

I bought the wire for my Ginger faerie wings frame at Michael's. It was one of the thickest ones found- about 1/4 inch diameter. I just bent them into shape. The actual wings (much simpler than those shown there) were then made with green tissue paper and glued around the frame. Then I had ribbons tied to the center of the wing frame and looped around to make straps. They did get a bit bothersome on my neck and shoulders after a long day, but they did work AND they did survive without getting any rips.

Go to a Hot Topic, I bet you van find it there. I saw some of my friends buy some wings like the ones in the picture there, and they look simular, so go there and try your luck.
