Aw, man, I wish I could fix this.

Walter, Hellsing (http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=880962)

I need help, this picture is awesome, I took it, but there wasn't much light and I would like some feedback or tutorials on how to improve it and make it look better. I tried adjusting the contrast and colors, but nothing seems to work. Any tips?

Here's what I did.

Go into Photoshop and play around with the Levels. Mainly I adjusted the gray slider because you did have lights and darks.

Once I got the background to show up again, I went into the Hue/Saturation settings and increased the saturation. This helped the washed-out colors to brighten.

To fix the red-eye, I created several layers on top of the picture. On one layer, I added some dark brown over the pupil of the eye. Below that, I added a light green around all the red parts (green and red cancel each other out). Finally, I added a very light white highlight on the top.

If you decide to use this version that I adjusted for you, please give credit to TR Rose.

I actually do this sort of thing professionally, so I've had experience fixing problem images.

Oh, this feels already better!
If I wanted to add more hellsing drama to it, what should I do?

How about a sample image from hellsing, so we can have a better idea of the feel youre trying to project.

Well, what I meant was really like a gloomy aspect since the character is kinda gloomy...

Almost half an hour later, I can up with this rendition of your picture:

If you want to have a step-by-step on how I made it, IM me at MikkouKoneko or MSN me jademoonstone4@hotmail.com

Note: I do photo manipulation and work with photoshop for a living. XD

photoshop is your friend, try messing around with hue and saturation before anything else.

Brightness/contrast can be your friend too, if you don't overdo it/

Wow, is it possible to do anything like that with Paint shop pro?

I wouldn't do hue and saturation.

Best thing to do is to do Image (first drop menu) >> Levels. Move the black arrow to make it darker, white to make it lighter. Best thing to do.
