I'm new here. I've tried to search for this for many hours, but I'm not having much luck. I get the feeling that this isn't a popular costume or else its so simple that everyone willl think I'm silly for not being to come up with it on my own. However, I'm not a dbz fan at all (I'm a ff girl all the way...heh!). I tried searching google images as well. argh! anyhow, my bf wants to dress as son goku for halloween. He's got the hair for it...it wouldn't take much to make it look pretty authentic. Also, it seems the pieces for the outfit would be fairly easy...dark blue t-shirt and orange jumpsuit with some modifications here and there...and boots. But I can't find any good pictures of the details...design on back and front???? Does anyone have any? Are there any dbz fans who could point me in the right direction??? Thanks much!

Let's see what I can do to help. Are you going for the version with or without Master Roshi's insignia? Below are some pics that should help you out. They're in various stages of SSJ-nes but ah well, still the same basic outfit.

(For the last one, head down to the bottom, there's a good shot of his insignia there. pic of Goku and Vegeta)

The King Kai logo is the only one not an actual kanji character. The others he's worn have been Kame (turtle) and Go (as in Goku, or Gohan). And then he just stopped wearing them altogether. So, technically, depending on how "late" in the series your bf wants to take his costume from, you might be able to get away with not having any symbols on the orange top at all.

And, don't know if this will make it easier or harder to craft the costume or find parts for it, but it's a lot easier to wear the costume if it's a shirt and pants instead of a jumpsuit. Trying to take the whole thing off for a bathroom break would be a nightmare. Besides, he has either a belt or a sash around the waist anyway, to hide where the shirt meets the pants. :)

There is a tutorial on my website for making Goku's boots out of bedroom slippers, if you were going for total accuracy and good quality detail.

just talked to the bf...and yep, he wants the boots. as soon as i described them his voice got excited. thanks so much for the link to the tutorial. thank goodness, his costume is not all that complicated. i've got two weeks and counting to make his and my costumes...and i still don't know what i'm going to wear. *sigh*

I imagine the boots would be the hardest. Don't forget that Goku wears wristbands and a belt too. They are identical color to the shirt. It shouldn't be too difficult. Good luck!
