Like a million other people, Rinoa was my very first cosplay costume, given the fact that I enjoyed the game, liked the outfit, and found that it was very comfortable to wear. The duster is ribbed even though its difficult to see it as such in many of the pictures, and its pretty stretchy so it fits snugly for the arm warmers. The duster is buttoned at the chest with a metal button just like Rinoa's is in the FMVs, and her wings are fabric painted onto the back.
After getting the duster and arm warmers, I began the hardest part about putting together Rinoa costumes: the million-and-one parts that she needs to complete the ensemble. The necklace I found really easily on-line, but the rest took a lot of time to hunt around for. The tank top I ended up getting at H&M for $4, while the ribbon I ripped off a Victoria's Secret box. For the skirt I hemmed a peice of denim that velcros in the back, and attached three silver buttons to the front. The shorts I created by recycling a pair of old dance pants and sewing silver zippers into them. Finally the boots, which turned out to match almost perfectly sans the belts, turned up at my local shoe outlet for about $25. The belts I picked up at Target, cutting them down so that they strapped securely around the boot width. Finally, a black wig I found at Karen's Wigs on eBay completed the look.
All and all, it was a relatively inexpensive costume to make and is extreamely comfortable to wear. Because of all its various parts, it's an outfit which I will probably always continue to tweak here and there, but on the whole I'm pleased with how it came out.
