Yuka Takayuchi

Alternate Costume

Last Updated: 08-10-2007

My sister and I really love all the VG characters, but her favorite has always been Tamao. After she completed her Tamao costume I decided to surprise her by making a Yuka costume so that we could wear them together ^_^.

SKIRT & SUSPENDERS: I used Simplicity patten #8952 as a base, altering the skirt to make it straight and added the apron along with the thick sash. The bow in the back was made out of foam which I cut to the proper shape and covered with pink fabric. The two white stripes were painted on with fabric paint.

SHIRT: I bought a men's white shirt and altered it by pouffing out the sleeves, adding the lace and bows, removing the collar, and fitting it to my size.

HAND & FOOT PIECES: I bought some champagne-colored opera gloves from "Claire's", cut off the fingers, and hemmed them to the proper length for Yuka's gloves. Then, using the leftover material from the opera gloves, I fashioned the foot pieces. I used a glue gun to attach small squares of packing foam to the insides of both the hand and foot pieces.

HAIR BOW: I made my own pattern for this.
