Based on Joe Linsner's work, I pulled elements from several sources to create my own original outfit for Dawn. The color elements were intended to reflect the idea of a phoenix, a nod towards Dawn's basic concept of death and rebirth.
I spent a long while puttering with this idea...initially, I was going to try to replicate one of the Dawn Christmas ornaments, but then I found myself shifting gears very suddenly to the Phoenix colors. Luckily, I'd only been patterning out the costume at the time, and no material had been bought to make it.
Dawn's a hard costume to wear. Multiple pieces of armor, fabrics that don't breathe (the corset is made of barstool-grade upholstery vinyl), painfully pointy shoes..but she's one of my most visibly stunning outfits when put on, on par in my opinion with Redd. Travelling with her is difficult, however, and can even cause a little alarm with the TSA, based on the inspection tag I found on my luggage after we returned from Atlanta.
