I love Trinity Blood, and after watching the anime I decided I wanted to cosplay Esther. Of course, I saw the artbook illustrations way before I saw the anime or knew anything about the series and knew I had to cosplay from it. The designs are just that gorgeous and the anime is totally my style -- a little bit gothic vampire and a little bit sci-fi. Out of all the characters I was able to relate to Esther the most hands down.
I decided to use velveteen for the dress and headpiece, and all of the bias tape was also made out of velveteen to match and handsewed to the edges since it was too thick to machine sew. I painted and drew all of the designs on the skirt by hand with the aid of stencils I made out of cardstock paper. And the armor and jewelry pieces are mostly model magic reinforced with craft foam, then spray painted and antiqued to its metallic finish. I recently re-made the cuff and collar arrows out of wonderflex.
All of the snaps on the front of the dress are also fully functional, and the front panel snaps completely on and off.
